  1. I feel as though the doc has been quite clear that Krause was instrumental in building the team. Getting Jordan help, trading for Pip, firing Collins, etc. That's all there. It's also obvious though that he wasn't Belichick, he wanted some spotlight, and that he was getting tired of Phil and MJ getting the glory. He was a very insecure guy that needed to be acknowledged. It comes across even more during the scenes where Jordan is making fun of him and it's clear he doesn't know how to handle it. That a third party forced Phil and MJ to separate prematurely is just the perfect example of what happens when a suit gets an inflated sense of self-importance. I don't see any of it as a bitter undertone though. It's a story about the same human beings co-existing for 10 years. There are going to be some stories about conflict. They're mostly laughing about it during the show.
  2. That was my plan anyway if we got the offer. Let them roll my SSH money over but I want the single games back.
  3. I don't see 2009 as very different from 2018 as Joey suggested earlier. It was one star WR, 34 y/o Driver and a bunch of guys finding their footing. The biggest difference is that Rodgers was a lot worse. Even in 2010 their offense was very blah through much of the season. What hurt the Packers more than not drafting WRs is the picks simply sucking regardless of position. I'm looking at Datone Jones, Derek Sherrod, Damarious Randall, and Rashan Gary to this point. You can forgive mediocre WRs if you're drafting studs defensively but there are way too many crappy early picks in their recent history. WR hasn't been a problematic position to me. They simply leaned on draft and develop way too much for how crappy they were drafting.
  4. In 2003 the Packers became a run-first offense behind Ahman Green having a monster year. Favre was still productive (but turned the ball over way too much). You can make a case they're doing the same thing now. Dillon, if he as good as advertised, will push them more in that direction. I liked that pick a lot simply because Jones is not just that kind of back. I like him as a player but he's just doesn't give you the same skillset. Having them both is exciting to me. Williams is more of a bruiser than Jones but he's not 250 pounds. Personally I'm excited for their offense. I'm hopeful about the development of the WRs, but they can be a good offense in ways other than Rodgers throwing 45 touchdowns.
  5. I agree except Cook. He was not over the hill and it was a huge mistake not to resign him. That really is one of their most underrated bad decisions. Compounded by the money threw at Bennett and Graham.
  6. Driver played one true year with Rodgers, he was phased out after 2009. Last year was by far the worst WR group they've had with Aaron, I won't argue that. But there have been plenty of star QBs rocking their one star WR and a bunch of scrubs throughout league history. What irks me is that the whole conversation was getting Rodgers a defense. They improved it a lot, then it moved to "he's never had WRs." So basically he needs help on both sides of the ball and is given a complete pass on everything. It's an amazing Favre deja vu experience. They've shorted Rodgers in some areas and he's blown his share of opportunities as well.
  7. It is entirely debateable. He threw 40 touchdowns in 2016. He's thrown to Jennings, Adams and Nelson, who were some of the best WRs the franchise has ever seen. The only season this argument holds any weight is last season, the one where he had a habit of chucking it well over open WR's heads. Even now, he has one of the elite WRs in the league on his team. They were trotting out a #4 as a #2 last year, it's being grossly exaggerated outside of that. Like someone said, watching this conversation move is incredible. It's been nothing but defense, defense, defense for a decade and all of the sudden he's had no help on offense, ever. I'm of the belief Rodgers has a resurgence in him yet, and he will have better seasons than the last two, but this "no help" narrative needs to end. There are a bunch of all-time QBs who've done as much or more with less.
  8. I don't think anyone thinks Jordan Love would take us to the top of the mountain in 2020 if Rodgers got hurt. But in 2022 you would hope it wouldn't be grounds to write off the season, which it has been every other time.
  9. It's rather convenient for Rodgers as his level of play has dropped off a lot and all of the sudden the drafting of WRs has always been a huge problem. Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson were just hacks. Adams too.
  10. I agree. The core group could have commanded less money in 1998-1999 to keep the team together. Money was more important for the core group (and management) so the group was broken up in a salary cap and profits built world. Jordan had half the cap (30+ mil) in 97-98, and the team had the highest payroll in 97-98 (61 mil) already. https://hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago_bulls/1997-1998/ What realistic options did the Bulls have? Most say to pay Pippen, but how much would it have taken to keep him with an already expensive Jordan? I'm not an expert on NBA roster and cap management..... perhaps someone has a better plan that would work. I believe that the Bird rule would have applied to Pippen so the team could have gone over the cap to keep him. Then again, Pippen would have wanted a top 5 contract. Jordan would have wanted more. Rodman.. more. I was being sarcastic. The blame for the Bulls coming unglued starts and stops with Krause. He deserves a lot of credit for building it, and all of it for the unraveling. There was no need to chase Phil Jackson out other than his own fragile ego. They won six titles though so I'm not sure why anyone has to be "blamed." I also found the whole "should we feel sorry for them" quite odd. That hasn't been the tone of the show...at all.
  11. I'm fine with Love, but I don't think it's quite as simple as Rodgers was good so it was the right pick. When you consider the Packers won 13 games in 2007 and Brett Favre still had 5 years of mostly good football left, you can certainly make an argument that had they hit on another player with that Rodgers pick, it could have, possibly, gotten Brett Favre another title. Roddy White went four picks later, Frank Gore was picked a couple rounds later. I'm going from memory but I believe Tatupu went mid 2nd too. Rodgers was other-worldly good, so no one has issues with the pick now, but there's still an argument that a) someone else could have helped Favre win faster/more, and b) the Packers could have found another QB between 2005 and 2010. Probably not one as good though. I am not suggesting Rodgers was a bad pick, just that I think there's more gray area than how Love turns out. He can turn out fine and I think it's still OK to be upset with the pick. Personally I just never cared for getting worked up in the immediate aftermath of a draft.
  12. The sales people are working at home. You can still contact them whenever. No idea beyond that.
  13. Yeah, the Bulls players should have taken less money to stay together. That's where the blame lies. Scottie Pippen, after that 5/$18mm, should have taken less money... You can watch it bleeped on ESPN3, btw.
  14. Yeah, I don't see myself and my family doing things much differently than we do now. I'll still be working from home. Won't be rushing out to restaurants and bars, still only go shopping one time a week and only one person doing it. Maybe see friends if it is just outside on a nice day still from a distance. But yeah, I won't be doing much different. I sent my younger son back to daycare today. We are both working at home but it had just become too much to handle with work, the older one's virtual learning and managing a toddler. It was a combination of the stress, the fact we were paying 50% tuition for no care, and the lack of being around other kids. My older one will finish out the school year at home and go back to a summer program. He will be starting there this week for just 1 day per week. My office re-opens with the 5/26 order, but I was mostly remote pre-virus. We will still be taking our summer vacation out east if the beaches open, but they are currently closed. All the philosophical things have been argued repeatedly in this thread so there is little need to re-hash them. I'm just of the mindset that we need to start getting back to life as much as we reasonably can. Higher-risk groups should exercise extra caution but I am just not going to cocoon for 6 months. It's not that I can't go a few months without a restaurant, I can, it's just there's a point where we need to lean on data and be honest about the risk. If we quarantine for 6 months, an entire year or five years, we will still be scared to go back to life on the re-start date. With the infection rates looking much higher than thought and the mortality much lower, combined with how many people are at Walmart and Home Depot every weekend, I do wonder what we achieved if anything.
  15. The Brewers have been more generous than their peers in the past, when it comes to incentives and how they treat fans. I'm fully expecting some nice incentives offered simply because it will be crippling if most just want the money back. My guess is that they make it very hard to say no. Some people still will and I think they will do the right thing. I can't see myself NOT rolling my $$ over, but I just can't see them refusing to do so as a real outcome. That will generate so much bad press and sour community relations, it is just incredibly short-sighted. I can't see them being that stupid.
  16. I've got about a grand sunk into this season and I'm just not up in arms about it yet. They are waiting for some official direction. I would like the grand back, but I'm a bit taken aback by how many people expected something other than this. At some point they will admit none of these games are happening and then entice people to roll them over as 2021 credits. The Brewers are not in a large enough market to piss this many people off and survive it. People will be enraged over this and they will remember it. They will do the right thing when they're certain about what's going on. But I can't believe anyone really expected refunds to be issued for April before they've even announced a plan, cancellations, etc.
  17. My theory is that the draft is such an inexact science that more bites at the apple gives you a better chance of getting lucky. I think this is a very fair theory. But I do think some teams are undeniably better at it than others. The data that I'm too lazy to look up though, is very clear and compelling, that when it comes to QB, your hit rate is MUCH higher in the first round than others.
  18. The Packers knew what Rodgers was and that is why when Favre did quit they didn't let him back, then said he could be the backup QB (lol). They only erred, IMO, in trying to control where he went. At the point you've moved on just let the guy go. If Love is wheeling and dealing in practice in two years the same thing is going to happen. If he's "okay" and the Packers are competing at a Super Bowl level, Rodgers is playing elite football, they will probably ride him until 42. I don't think either outcome is a lot more likely than the other. Calling Love the "successor" is just premature at this point.
  19. It is not even close to this clear-cut. Rodgers getting traded after this season is almost definitely not happening. The Patriots drafted Garoppolo 62nd overall and he only saw the field due to injury. It is completely within the realm of possibility that Love gets traded entering his final season of his rookie deal. If by that time he has looked as good as Rodgers did in practice with Favre, then they will likely make the kind of decision you are suggesting. You are putting the cart a mile before the horse. Rodgers playing somewhere else is quite likely. He said a long time ago if it can happen to Brett it can happen to anyone.
  20. I am not that concerned about giving up the pick, it is the end of the 4th round and we still have a bunch of day 3 picks to move around and get some players we are targeting as projects to fill out the roster. I am OK with taking a QB too, we have talked about it here and it makes sense with Rodgers age and the need for a quality backup behind him. But thinking more about it this morning and watching some talking heads I am reminded of 2018 and the camera shots of Rodgers and LaFleur on the sidelines last season. Maybe the packers are a little tired of Rodgers and view him as uncoachable, he is not going anywhere this season obviously but he may see the writing on the wall. Will be very interested to see his reaction today. If I'm Rodgers, I lay low for awhile. No good can come from him reacting good or bad today, because if he's positive, people will see him as disingenuous, and if he shows negativity, he's a drama queen. At some point, it's not even worth arguing with the fans who are upset. You just gotta laugh at some of the takes being thrown out there today. It's literally 2005 all over again. Quite appropriate in a year where every day feels like Groundhog Day. He said he would be calling the player and 'welcoming them' no matter what, so there is going to be a follow-up on whether that happened and for his sake, I hope it did.
  21. $134mm for a guy you are tired of is a weird flex. I think people put way too much weight on this as it relates to Aaron Rodgers. It's probably still fairly likely Love starts his first game somewhere else unless they watch him after a year or two of practice and clearly see he is special. If Rodgers has a late-career resurgence and the team is winning and he's throwing 38 TDs with a desire to play to 43, this guy is never going to see the field in GB. They have an older QB and acquired some talent there, he may be a safeguard, maybe something more. I don't think it's more complicated than that.
  22. Haven't seen a whole lot of people making this argument. Both of those that you bolded have literally been made in this thread. "In theory we are set at QB for another 15-20 years" "Qb is the most important position …….. We now have two, two really good QB." Saying we are set at QB in theory for 15 years is not anointing. It is saying that if he's as good as they think, they have a starting QB. I don't think you are interpreting that as it was intended. And yes NCAA stats are empty. I would venture that those are not even mentioned in any scouting discussion especially as far as yards, TDs and QB rating. The variables like opponents, teammates, offense, etc. make it fairly useless. There are stat Gods that aren't considered pro prospects every year and vice versa. It's a "piece of information" that nobody takes seriously.
  23. Adding immediate help is great if sports were like Legos and I could just tack a piece on to something I built and let sit for a year, but that just isn't how it works. There are too many moving parts every offseason and changes around the league to get caught up in that. It is more prudent to trust your evaluators and take your best players.
  24. No one cares about stats from college. Talk about empty.
  25. I live in Hartford and it will make no difference. Downtown has been bustling this entire time. Yes the bars are closed but every restaurant does curbside and patrons are often just getting out of the car to walk in and pick up. Ace Hardware has been slammed every weekend. Walmart is as crowded as ever every Saturday.
