  1. The cash tickets are rebounding in June, but if you have miles with anyone and any confidence in this thing resolving, there's never been a better time to book awards. The availability to just about anywhere is better than I've ever seen even 11 months out.
  2. That was one of the saddest parts of being down there. The field was beautiful and had all kinds of equipment on it. It was ready to go. Don't believe they leave the entrance tents up all year but those were up too. I keep thinking about the abandoned Citi Field in Avengers.
  3. I think you are right on the edge where it might work out OK. I think April is shot. My next flights are in June. I'm worried, but not going to do anything just yet. If you actually can't/don't want to pay the bill, I'd wait until right before you have to. Time is your friend at the moment.
  4. Probably washing hands 40x more than the average person as well.
  5. I have to ask if you any of you still saying this is an overreaction know any nurses or doctors. I do, and they are all describing nightmares at work already.
  6. Makes me glad I bothered to go there on Saturday (team store) on a whim that this would happen.
  7. I won't pretend to know the financials well enough but I would guess with the 162-game season the money is up and down a lot throughout the year for many teams. If you play 60 games and only 8 are at home on the weekend I'm guessing that may be a problem. There's a lot of expense involved in a season and it might be hard to pull off, but IDK. I know the TV is a much bigger deal than the attendance. I think a 50-game baseball season sounds like a lot of fun. Just don't know how realistic it is.
  8. If we don't have baseball before the ASG I don't think we're going to have it at all. That's mid July.
  9. We'll have to adapt as we go but if the sicknesses are dispersed evenly we won't have to be in full isolation mode for the duration. Any news coming out of China is kind of hard to gauge in reality but it feels like people go from not taking this seriously to overdoing it and back again every other day. We'll have a better idea within a couple of weeks.
  10. You usually can even if PT, I imagine right now most UE requests are getting rubber stamped.
  11. I haven't let my kids watch TV yet which feels like some sort of triumph at this point.
  12. Probably a good point. I supposed you could make it so people have to claim it and anything unclaimed could be re-dispersed. Although I guess if people who don't need it still spend it, still achieves the goal.
  13. Should the situation get any worse, the federal government needs to step in and guarantee a basic income of $1,000 for every adult for 6 months. That’s $6,000 for 200 million adults or $1.2 trillion. Rates are so low right now, the US could finance the stimulus at < 1% for 10 years. Considering the national debt is $23.3 trillion another $1.2 trillion for some semblance of stability seems prudent. I keep seeing this floating around and can't we just do this with qualifiers? Do software developers really need $1k a month? I mean I don't need it. I think we can come up with something helpful and a tad more responsible.
  14. I'll go with the MDs and people who've dedicated their careers to infectious disease over baseball fans on this one.
  15. It's so refreshing to have a GM that finally just lets people go and doesn't retain them solely because he drafted them. Draft and develop is great until you're consistently drafting mediocre players and refusing to sever ties with them. We can discuss Gute's abysmal '18 draft but at least he has shown an ability to move on.
  16. Yeah that's like impossible unless they are planning to move to warm climates and climate-controlled environments entirely and playing until Christmas.
  17. I don't know. But here's one thing I feel is likely to happen: TSA will develop some kind of health screen that annoys everyone and doesn't work.
  18. Why did Houston do that? I don't follow NFL personnel all that closely. They not want to pay him or something or what?
  19. I mean I don't disagree. If for no other reason than mental health, I'll never try to say this isn't better than sitting in your house.
  20. If that happens I'll jump for joy.
  21. Something tells me that air quality was quite different in 1918 than it is now... The parallels to 1918 are just ridiculous and need to stop. The entire reason Bill Gates has been harping about the need for a pandemic response plan for 10 years is because of globalization and the ability of laymen to travel around the world in 14 hours. We can't glean anything about how a different strain is going to behave by looking at one from a time when wealthy people were driving Model Ts. Much smarter professionals address the "summer will fix this" rationale here: https://ccdd.hsph.harvard.edu/will-covid-19-go-away-on-its-own-in-warmer-weather/
  22. Well if you believe that the problem is getting inadequate care, you should be concerned about the US because the healthcare system is taxed on a regular day. In the article above, the county they used had 21 available beds in 32 facilities before the pandemic struck. It's not going to take an insane number of cases to tax the US healthcare system.
  23. Your guess is pretty much reflected in this expert's scenario. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/coronavirus-may-make-millions-of-americans-sick-but-we-only-have-about-100000-ventilators/ Article also goes into the problem we are potentially facing and why it's different. There are some people leaning way too hard into the US stats right now to gauge the seriousness. They are thought to be weeks behind reality and only painting a very small part of the picture.
  24. I think June is still in play for MLB if everything goes perfectly. The 8 weeks pass and the thing is becoming a memory, you can get everyone back together in mid May. I think that's doubtful but not out of the picture just yet.
  25. Even a week ago I would have thought this to be virtually impossible, but now I agree that it's a valid possibility that can't be completely dismissed. Though we absolutely will know more in the next couple of weeks. Yeah it's insane. I was at the Bucks last home game. While this was all very much in the news, the idea of them not playing a week later is just crazy and I would have laughed at anyone who said it. It was probably spreading like wildfire in the US while everyone felt the same way I did. What it seems like some people are dismissing is that pretty much any delay beyond what we're hoping really puts everything in jeopardy. If Opening Day is pushed to July 8 you are getting really close to making that decision I would think.
