  1. Well I sure hope I'm wrong because Miller Park is great during the playoffs and nothing like going in the regular season. I would love to get another game there this year, especially if we can bring an NLDS back to MKE at 1-1.
  2. Another reason why Knebel is so missed. I've said it a few times but I really do not like Hader closing things out with one-run leads. He is just way too suspect when it comes to the long ball. 5-2 is fine, even 4-2 because he's at least got to let a guy on, but I just do not like him when the margin for error is zero. If I had Knebel I would be bringing Hader out first without hesitation.
  3. He's a backup for injured infielders and a LHB on a one-game roster where the pitchers likely won't hit ever, so it's not all that surprising
  4. I would honestly like to see Hader be the first guy out, assuming Woodruff goes 2-3, on the hope that Hader looks good and can eat 9 outs. Maybe I am being ridiculous, but that's how I would play it. And then hopefully you're bringing someone into the 6th or 7th with a few run lead. Of course, that brings letting him bat into the equation, which probably has about a 0.005% chance of happening, but maybe if you time it just right you can get at least 2 from him.
  5. Strasburg and Colvin are part of the roster that is better, so yes they are the reason. Look I really want the Brewers to win and think they can. But if we had those three guys this entire GT would be about how confident we are because they should all be up and ready to go at a moment's notice. I would rather have those three guys than Lyles, Suter, whatever we are throwing at the wall this week...they have been fantastic for us on this run but talent is talent. It's baseball though and it's one game. Orlando Arcia could go 5-5 with 6RBI and send us to the NLDS. I just think I would rather be WAS right now than us.
  6. How are the Nationals any more built for this game than we are? We have been bullpenning to great success both this September & last September & last postseason, it is nothing new to our team, just another game. The Nats bullpen is so horrendous they are probably going to throw two starters in unfamiliar roles to try & compensate, pretty out of the ordinary for them. Not to mention their "ace", hasn't been very ace-y of late. One way I choose to optimistically look at the Nats pitching situation...they are pretty much going to live and die by how Scherzer looks tonight. If Woodruff isn't sharp, quick hook and in comes someone else...probably before big run totals get posted. If Scherzer allows 2 or 3 runs in the first couple innings, there's just no way they pull him. While Scherzer is certainly capable of flipping the switch at any moment and being a superstar, I like that he's been struggling lately. Provides a bit more hope. So if Scherzer isn't sharp tonight, it will probably be 4-5 runs before that Nats do anything. By then it would probably be too late. What? If he looks awful he will most definitely get pulled. It's not like they need him to 6. They are trying to win one game just like us.
  7. Corbin, Scherzer and Strasburg. They have three star pitchers that can all go any length of time as long as they look good, which they are more likely to do than our guys. I don't think saying they are better suited than us for a one-game playoff, on paper, is even a remotely controversial thing to say. Their bullpen sucks, and they most likely don't need to use it at all tonight. The Brewers aren't the favorite in this game for a reason.
  8. Good thing my feelings count for nothing because I have a bad feeling about this one. They really achieved more than I could have ever hoped for in September and I wrote this season off at many different times, but I think at some point the injuries and weaknesses of the team become too much. I don't think they are really built for a game like this against a team that very much is. Of course, it's one game, so they always have a shot, but I am not expecting much tonight. My guy feeling is a 9-1 whipping or something. If they do win I'll probably pick them as the upset special to take out LAD. I really hope I can get to at least one more game at Miller Park this year.
  9. I'm sure there is some kind of stupid regulation where they aren't allowed the show the game at MP without paying 50% to TBS or something.
  10. It's those pesky other five months where Houston was better than the Brewers. I mean what is more likely? The Brewers not getting past any one of these 90+ win teams or the Brewers 18-2 stretch is an accurate depiction of how good they are? There is really nothing controversial, contrarian or even negative about thinking the Brewers probably won't be playing by October 10th, if this weekend.
  11. I would call a prolonged run a miracle. Winning a series may qualify as a small one. This is by far the worst team in the playoffs and there's a reason most places have them at 1% right now.
  12. Nope, not on Tuesday. There is no chance, 0% that he is allowed to pitch 7 innings, not to mention, he doesn't have the stamina built up even if they wanted him to go 7. If we get a solid 3 innings we will be doing great! That wasn't supposed to be a scientific prediction of where his stamina is, just that he has the talent to go toe-to-toe with any SP on a good day.
  13. Max will be yanked as soon as there are two guys on base though. They have more blue chip arms who are far less likely to fart and they can keep throwing them out there. Anything is possible but I think if the Brewers win it's going to be because Woodruff and the pen did their job. 2-1, 3-2, 1-0, etc. Doubt the Brewers score 9 runs tomorrow as that would mean they lit up multiple TOR arms.
  14. Seconded. I really don't understand this philosophy. Is this what the cool kids are doing or something? Built in depression protection. If they lose "This is what I expected", if they win "OH MY GOSH HOW AMAZING!". It's a defense. Not really. I don't know what I would be defending against. It's pretty unreasonable to actually expect them to win Tuesday. They could because it is one game, but I have no expectation of them winning. They were .500 all year, had an anomaly month and then got swept by an awful team at the very end. I do call BS on the Nationals being "exponentially better." They're not. The best player on our mildly above average team is the best player in the league and we don't have him. My hunch is just that our fumes are running low and an elite talent like Scherzer will shut us down. But Woodruff is also good enough that he's capable of a 7IP shutout and a HR. Nobody actually knows but I would never bet on the Brewers tomorrow. The only dumb reason I have optimism is that Nationals are due for a loss and we just got swept.
  15. I know the team isn't thinking like this. But last night's events have me pretty much resigned to losing the wild card game. That kind of emotional ride made me feel like the season is already over.
  16. Maddon and Theo were up all night drinking several bottles of wine and reminiscing about their relationship. I'm not making that up, that's what they said. And determined it was best for all to part ways.
  17. I'm not at peace and will be bitter about the choke job last night probably all winter, but if we do win the wild card game I actually prefer that first round matchup. Just play the top team and you only have to win three. Underdogs against anyone so I'd rather just get them and maybe get some flukey payback for 2018.
  18. Heard the Mets are already in on him.
  19. Everyone knew he wasn't coming back. But I think this all helped the Brewers because the Cubs players knew it too and wanted to send him out a winner. Unfortunately we sucked.
  20. There are plenty of bad takes on this forum but this one is especially awful... Too bad it's not. At his worst Turnbow was 8 long balls in 56 IP. So one per 7 innings. Josh is at one per five right now. His K% is lovely except that when guys make contact they are sending his stuff to Jupiter. He is literally worse than Turnbow at keeping the ball in the park right now.
  21. 20 pack, and I got the email an hour before it started, so I guess you're good.
  22. Going to accept our fate playing Tuesday and get a bunch of errands done. Hopefully we are playing tomorrow.
  23. I got a new email, but just looked at both of them and the code was the same.
