  1. That's kinda crazy, because people were going absolutely nuts that Braun wasn't up yet. Some were doing with Keston but it did not feel nearly as intense. I guess maybe because the team is better.
  2. Pretty ridiculous https://twitter.com/darenw/status/1128318929779208193/photo/1
  3. He said "thank you" to the guy holding the door. High character, no ego, high baseball IQ, probably going to be a legend
  4. I don't see that at all. He looks fine physically. I think his issues are on the mental side. He's always been a tortoise with those monstrously thick legs. I don't think he was ever an Adonis but he looks exactly the same to me as well. And I would agree with whoever said it that they need his bat to get right.
  5. Vlad Jr. turned 20 three weeks ago. I think his struggles were pretty predictable.
  6. Yea, shame on all of us for being excited about one of the best prospects in baseball! I'm just as excited to see what he can do. I'm just not expecting him to be Fred Lynn like it seems a lot of people are. I wasn't a month ago but he has been crushing the ball in AAA. I still have tempered expectations, but like I said, he could be pretty raw and still be a boost compared to what we've been doing.
  7. Braun looked horrible his first couple of games. I think he came up and faced Peavey or something and looked like he'd never played baseball before. Lucky for Keston the IF bar has been set pretty low for him so it won't be super difficult to be an upgrade.
  8. I think the 'family to feed' stuff is just a figure of speech players use to be succinct about why there is a contract dispute. It's just another way of saying "I'm looking out for #1." The owners get to play good cop and just say "we offered $20 million that's a lot" which is a much more sympathetic angle for fans.
  9. I would guess Shaw since he has options but given the timing right after Thames spent the night gritting his teeth I would guess it's him to DL.
  10. I think Thames can be traded for helpful pieces, we just aren't in a position where that is viable at the moment. If Shaw gets going we can talk, but he isn't right now, and I don't believe it's a guarantee that he will. And he's not playing where Thames is, so that's where the plan gets especially odd for me. You can play both while Shaw is "snapping out of it" so that the guy that's been hitting is actually producing.
  11. Not aggressive...think your plan is odd. I think calling up Hiura and trading Thames is a weird solution to Aguilar and Shaw batting .175. I'm also not sure why or how we'd get a high leverage reliever for a guy who's so bad he has to be unloaded on a team where he's the only 1B that hits. Seems like you are irrationally upset with Thames, that's all.
  12. That's fine. I'll take the guy with the better track record. You can take the "what have you done for me lately approach" There is room for more than one opinion. You talk like Shaw and Thames play the same position and are battling each other for PT right now.
  13. Disagree. Right. Because he most recently dropped a ball. Travis Shaw has been useless the entire year. Useless.
  14. How much of that value does he give away on defense? Not the .300 he would need to be giving up to be Travis Mendoza
