  1. And, if the Brewers are average, like last year, the stars like Fielder and Braun still sell tickets. A 75-win team with a bunch of no-names will be a less attractive draw than an 80-win team with two superstars.
  2. No, but trading Prince Fielder for three 20-year-olds isn't going to get the Brewers to 95 wins. The odds of them reaching that number are much greater with him knocking in 130 runs for us.
  3. You are right, it is probably much less that $2M. I'm sorry, I just can't buy this. The Brewers are probably going to draw 3 million fans again this year, which I believe is the third straight year if that happens. The Brewers are doing better than ever in this city. Prince Fielder is a major reason for that. He and Ryan Braun are putting a lot of people in the seats who otherwise wouldn't show up. If you trade him for a bunch of guys who might be good players a few years from now, you are risking a lot. If they were able to stay competitive without him, that's one thing. But the guy is a massive cog in our offense. Braun would be worse off if we lost him, the Brewers would be worse off if we lost him. What happens if we lose Fielder, don't get adequate value in return, lose for a while, and Hollywood (Braun) wants to be traded? Take those two guys of our roster and you are looking at the mid-90s again. I echo what's been said. If Prince Fielder is willing to slightly settle, then we've got to keep him around. If he wants some $200 million contract, then we don't have a choice and he needs to be traded. But I think Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun have been worth a lot more than $2 million in revenue.
  4. John Mozeliak is way too far down that list.
  5. Well then I guess I would add, to anyone who reads this, is it worth it to you?
  6. I was wondering what the difference is as I buy tickets for this season. I've sat in the field infield box many times but never in the diamond box. I'm confused because I've had FIB seats that are pretty darn close to the field, so I don't understand how the FDB seats could be better enough to warrant being twice the price. FIB is $50, FDB is $100. Anyone care to break this down for me? Why do they cost so much?
  7. I was wondering if you guys know if the Cubs have a site like this one. My girlfriend is a Cubs fan and loves Ryan Theriot, her birthday is right around opening day...I was wondering if I could find someone who goes to their spring training, or gets a lot of Cubs autos, and could hook me up with a signed photo. If he could personalize it that would be amazing, but I'll settle for just the signature. Obviously I'm willing to pay a pretty good chunk of change if this can happen. Thanks. Maybe someone around here has Theriot stuff?
  8. Eh, just wear powder blues with "Milwaukee" and keep the 40th anniversary patch.
  9. I am looking to unload some of my collection right now. Here's what I have available, along with some price ranges that aren't firm: 2007 Prince Fielder Beloit Snappers Bobblehead $25-352008 Corey Hart Bobblehead $5-102009 Doug Melvin Bobblehead $5-102009 Brett Lawrie Timber Rattlers bobblehead $25-35 All of the bobbleheads are new in pristine condition. -Aaron Rodgers white jersey variant McFarlane figure - unopened - $20-Brewers 5 HR Poster-Brett Favre autographed (#35/100) mini helmet, with all decals, holograms and COAs from his official dealer. This also comes with a deluxe case for the helmet with his name engraved on it. Obviously you can inspect this yourself. $100-150 Everything is in very good shape. I think everyone knows what this stuff looks like, if there is interest on the Favre, I can send pictures to anyone who would like to see it.
  10. Because fans can be dumb. There are some former Brewers where that makes sense - Sheffield. But when they boo guys who weren't invited back to the team, and even some who were vocal about wanting to stay, it blows my mind. Like I said before, McClung will get booed when he comes back to Miller Park.
  11. I'm not sure I'm totally on board with the "booing is only detrimental" stuff. I think booing can absolutely be a motivational tool. On one hand, it may provide a shot of adrenaline. "Oh, these people think I suck, well watch this..." There are lots of players who channel anger into production. Gary Sheffield was one such player and said he loved going into a stadium and getting booed. Obviously he was booed for different reasons in Milwaukee, but I'm talking about later in his career. Also, booing may be effective in the same way that scolding your kid is effective. No one likes to be booed. I'm pretty sure all the players are trying most of the time, but they are human beings. I think there are definitely some guys who are embarrassed to be booed. If a guy is caught spacing out during a routine play or not hustling on the bases, he might get embarrassed when he's called out for it. For some people, they won't care. But for some people, that's an incentive to not let it happen again. Some guys really seem to let the booing get to them (Turnbow, Parra) but I think there are definitely some players who feed off of it. Nothing wrong with letting a player have it when he's not doing his job. They make lots of money. They should be able to handle most of the stuff fans throw at them. Personally, I don't boo Suppan when he tanks - I don't think he's trying to tank and I don't think booing him helps him out. But I'm not going to say that no one should boo a struggling player. It's really your call, and it doesn't bother me if you want to boo the guy. I'm just not going to. But I won't sit on some St. Louis Cardinals-esque pedestal and tell you what the proper etiquette is.
  12. Not to mention, you at a movie theater is not a live performance and the people on screen can't even hear your booing. A live theater performance is tad better of a comparison, but still not the same at all, because the norm is still silence as a courtesy to those around you.
  13. What would the Giants even be able to knock him with during a hearing? I'm guessing they would have worked the "character issues" (pot) for the entire time. I don't know what else they could say.
  14. Ridiculous comparison. The social norm at a movie theater is to be silent so that you and everyone around you can hear the movie. Someone else might like the movie and you are greatly inhibiting their ability to do that. A baseball game isn't an art gallery, one of the biggest reasons people go is to be "part of the moment" and make some noise. You can cheer, boo, scream, chant, whatever ... As long as it isn't profane or violent, you are pretty much allowed to voice your displeasure. This isn't a movie where the audio is crucial to your understanding of the plot.
  15. I think there's a lot of overreacting here. I think Hart can be a pretty good player. He's lost 20 pounds this year in an effort to stay fresh and quick on his feet. He did take a nosedive in 2008 and never really recovered, but this guy was voted into an AS game. If he can capture some of that magic again this really isn't that big of a deal.
  16. Even though I'm sure Bonds was in the same class before he started cheating, integrity matters to me, so if those two were truly clean, Bonds isn't even in the discussion.
  17. My ethics: You bought a ticket, you can boo whoever you want for whatever reason you want.
  18. Guarantee you Brewer fans will boo Seth McClung.
  19. The greatest hitter of the last 20 years next to Ken Griffey.
  20. Of all the teams you just listed and mentioned, at least one of them will want Prince Fielder by the time he is traded or a free agent. Look at this realistically. You honestly think all of those teams will pass on Fielder? There's just not a chance. Fielder and Boras are going to test free agency. They're not going to sign an extension without seeing what offers he gets. Once it gets to that point, the Brewers just won't be able to throw the kind of number required for him to stay. It's just my opinion, but he's as good as gone. So much on that list will change by the time Prince is a free agent. At least one and probably more of those teams will have drastically changed circumstances.
  21. I really hope he's not wearing a White Sox shirt.
  22. I find this funny. So if the Brewers lose the case and pay for lawyers it's a waste. If they win and pay for lawyers it's probably the same total cost it would have been to just give Hart what he wanted.
