  1. The fact of the matter is ANY player is a "good draw." Fans will come out for a free bobble whether it's Prince Fielder or Ruben Quevedo, and I'm included in that lot. The game is a good time in itself, who can complain about a free gift? That said, the Brewers have done bobbles (lots of them) of 82 players and stuff, but I would really like to see them incorporate at least one old school player a year. There's a ton of guys who've never had a bobble. Vina, Valentin, Burnitz, CIRILLO, Nieves, Higuera, Eldred, Vaughn, etc. None of them are exactly HOFers but they were bright spots in dark times that any hardcore fan would appreciate a bobblehead day for. I'd much rather get any of those bobbles than Jason Kendall or Jeff Suppan. As far as next year, if they stick to the six bobble format, I'd bet on: Prince Fielder HR Derby Champ Gallardo Italian Sausage Mike Cameron - if he returns Dave Bush Mark Attanasio - seems like a natural progression after Melvin.
  2. I don't see a bobble for Escobar just yet.
  3. Fielder will get one, but I would guess it won't be team RBI record ... It will probably be a HR Derby Champ bobble. Fielder HR Derby Gallardo Cameron if he comes back Dave Bush Counsell is a strong bet if he comes back Possibly McGehee Italian I'd say those are the most likely candidates
  4. The Brewers were in first place on July 4? What's your point? The season doesn't end on July 4th, and most people were very aware of the nosedive by that point. Everyone knows this team's 25-14 start was a fluke. We had Jeff Suppan, Dave Bush and Braden Looper pitching well above their ability. And they were in first place (barely) by being like 5 games above .500. I'm pretty sure they were the worst or second to worst first place team in MLB. If anyone actually thinks the Brewers can make the playoffs with the same starting rotation they had this season ... I envy your naivety. Not a chance. So you're telling me it's a coincidence that almost everyone had concerns about this rotation before the season, and that happened to be the reason the team failed? If the rotation had been healthy there wouldn't have been problems? Not buying it. There wasn't and isn't enough talent on the pitching staff to get this team to the playoffs.
  5. Gallardo, Bush (if healthy) and Looper can fill spots in a 5-man rotation. The other two spots need to be replaced. At the very least, one of them needs to be replaced and Manny Parra needs to perform. If we go into next season with the same five guys, you can stick a fork in us before opening day.
  6. If they don't get a few pitchers this winter none of the games in '10 will matter either.
  7. I didn't expect him to take my offer. I was shocked that he did. I've purchased probably 30-40 or so bobbles from him over the years, so maybe that had something to do with it. Or maybe he just really needed some money.
  8. I got the blue one from CCD for $80 a long time ago. It was on buy it now for some ridiculous amount, but I offered $80 and he accepted. I also got the white one from Matt for $75 when they first came out. CCD does sell bobbles way over their value, but the ones he has on buy it now, sometimes you can offer something less than half his list price and he will accept it.
  9. It's worth noting that Cameron will likely last longer than the average player because he's in phenomenal physical condition. Edited: Thanks.
  10. It's a nice bobble. Had it by 5:10 was on my way back by 5:20. I would have loved to stay longer but have early work tomorrow.
  11. "I think Cam, Hardy, Hart, and Kendall all need to go" The only one of that group I would say HAS to go is Jason Kendall. Cameron has been great for the Brewers, I would love him back. Hardy and Hart have talent, and maybe it's the fan in me talking, but I just can't believe either one of them would be as bad next season as they were this season. Then again, Hart was bad at the end of 2008, too. Hardy almost surely won't be back, but I think next year his numbers will go back to .275ish and 20-25 homers.
  12. Jason Kendall also made similar remarks yesterday. Not about making a sacrifice, but he said something like "My top choice is coming back here. I'm not just saying that, I really, really love it here." Granted many of us don't want Kendall back, but it must look good to other FAs.
  13. Would love to see him back. I wouldn't want to spend more than $6 million though.
  14. Or I don't want the Brewers to spend more than $6 million, I should say.
  15. Obviously not, but I saw this and it made me laugh nonetheless. http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/for/1355875819.html
  16. They sold a ton of tickets before the season, and a ton more in the early going when they were in first place or close to it with St. Louis. This second half nosedive is going to leave a sour taste in many mouths. They should pass 2 million easily, but 3 million will be unlikely unless they are in contention again, IMO.
  17. I have an on-field authentic AJ Hawk jersey that I want to get rid of. This is the real deal with sewn numbers and nameplate, not the knockoff you find at Kohl's. It would be a GREAT item to get signed. I'm open to all offers of Brewers/Packers merchandise. I would even trade it for the same jersey of a different player. I'm just not a Hawk guy. I also need both versions of the Suppan bobblehead. It is the green uniform, in outstanding condition. No tags, wore it once or twice. Let me know if interested. Thanks.
  18. Dude. I need one. Like right now. Would you give me one for a Hart or Kendall bobblehead?
  19. That Vernon Wells contract is astounding.
  20. Loney is awful for a 1B, but he's OK. He drives in a fair amount of runs. Better contact hitter than Thome and Loney's BA has dipped this season. Any time you can add a bat like Thome it helps the team, but I guess I just don't see one of them as drastically better than the other. Good addition though.
  21. When JJ Hardy is somewhere else next year hitting .230 with 8 homers in August, you'll be glad we have Escobar starting, and, hopefully a mediocre pitcher.
  22. I don't really see the point of this. It seems like the only reason to do this would be to prevent SF from getting a power bat.
  23. Start Parra on three days rest for the rest of the season. At least make him earn his money.
  24. Weird offer, I know. I just don't like the game that much. I need both Suppan bobbles, I'll trade Madden 10 for them. Also have: 06 pinstripe Cecil Cooper 07 Beloit Fielder 07 Huntsville Fielder 08 white Corey Hart 08 White Jason Kendall
