  1. Bill Hall = crappier Jeff Hammonds
  2. Bill Hall, you owe the team 6 runs. Feel free to start paying up any day now. He owes 6 runs and $24 million.
  3. Certianly didn't see that coming. I attened a speech he gave on ethics in the media while I was in college. While I thought I tended to be a little biased to the left, he was an extremely likeable and sincere individual I agree with you, but I think any bias was slight, and when you consider how much passion he had for what he did, it's forgivable. He loved this job. It would be like you or I writing about sports and someone saying we had a Brewers bias. Of course we do. When you put him next to Bill O'Reilly or Keith Olbermann, he was the cream of the crop. I'm sorry if this seems extreme but I'm really shaken up over this. I met Tim multiple times, and I can tell you that of the famous people I've been able to meet, he stuck me as a truly genuine individual. I met him at a restaurant before an event in which he was speaking, and I later saw him that night at the event. I was there early, and when he saw my group of friends, his eyes lit up and he said, "You actually came!" He appeared genuinely happy to see us. He was unique, genuine and real ... he was human. I didn't really know him, but I'm really going to miss seeing him on television. And whoever commented about the election night is exactly right ... it won't be the same without him.
  4. Braun is popular and I see him getting in. Sheets is a lock. I think those will be the two guys. Remember, Milwaukee tends to be very good when it comes to making a late push to get our guys in the game. It may come down to Braun being in that five player group for the final spot, and I would really like his chances if it came to that.
  5. And That hit it on the head. The true summer season hasn't started.
  6. And the W/L record points out that we are better without Braun right? Maybe if we sent him back down we'll go on a 24-10 run. Stats lie, that's the point.
  7. All these statistics are a overly complicated ways to try and predict an unpredictable thing. It doesn't matter what their record was with or without Soriano or what their expected W/L is. The fact is they are a worse team without Soriano in the lineup. The Brewers had a worse record after Braun was called up than they had before. Would anyone argue they are a better team without Ryan Braun? The loss of Soriano will hurt the Cubs. But it's not insurmountable and for the Brewers it all comes back to the same thing - we need to play better.
  8. I know this is a Brewers board and all, but do you really consider Yount to be on the level with those other names? I don't, at least not as a hitter. As an all around player the case can be made, but I find each of those guys to be a much better hitter Yount.
  9. You never like to see guys injured, especially not guys like him, but I'll take any edge we can get. Maybe D. Lee is next.
  10. I don't think there's any doubt KGJ would be the home run leader had he been able to stay healthy. There are seven years where he missed at least 40 games and in most of them it was way more than that. He'd have 800 home runs by now, but we all know how that goes. The one record that I think will never be broken is DiMaggio's hit streak. One because it's just a ridiculous number, and two because it's not a legitimate record in the first place.
  11. There are several on eBay.
  12. That sounds awfully silly. There are plenty of 2B who don't lead off, and if Hall were playing 2B, there is no way he would lead off.
  13. I kind of feel like a trip to the DL is the best for Rickie and the Brewers right now. If they weren't going to bench him for a week, I think this might turn out to be an okay deal.
  14. I might care if he were producing in any manner. He should be thanking his lucky stars for each opportunity and taking any PT he can get. Guys who sign a giant contract and then fail miserably don't really earn the right to hold down a position.
  15. Could we be looking at Counsell leading off?
  16. My problem isn't with Hall at 2B, it's Hall in the batter's box. I don't particularly like him defensively, but I would prefer him to Dillon ... his bat is just so pathetic that I can't stand having him in the lineup each day. Of those three, I'd probably go with Counsell for most of the starts. It's not spectacular, but I really have no tolerance for Bill Hall's offense any more.
  17. Anything but that, please. Weeks get hurt so we replace him with the one player who's been more inept ... no thanks. Give me Counsell or Dillon please. The Hurricane did play 2B, but has been playing LF this year. My gut says they won't move him back to 2B, but I don't know. I think they just called up a guy who offers speed and OBP.
  18. Right ... they wouldn't want Hall, but Weeks would make plenty of sense with the salary. I don't think there's anything to this story though.
  19. The Brewers can't give up Escobar. If Hardy doesn't show some improvement, he could be in our plans pretty soon. The others you mentioned are more logical. There's an OF logjam making Hernan expendable, and Jeffress is the disappointing, high potential guy that I could see them dealing. As for the Cubs, I think that trade is dead, so no real motivation on that front.
  20. And yet, I can't tell if you are both being sarcastic, or if you're not buying Doug's excuse.
  21. One thing I thought was interesting, not that I was listening in on his talk with TH, was that Melvin seemed to know Roberts' salary figures off the top of his head.
  22. Eh. It's the way he said it that makes me dismiss the story. It's one thing if he says "no comment" or something, but he pretty much said there was no truth to it whatsoever. The way he mentioned the O's trying to get the Brewers into it earlier this year, and never scouting him ... it just doesn't come off as the typical-GM-trying-to-keep-it-on-the-low stuff. I read it to be genuine.
