Multiple times honestly. 2014, 2016, 2023 were all crushing defeats for that franchise that robbed them of what could have been critical turning points.

I was pulling for the Yankees but at least now those few posters around here will stop pretending the Dodgers have struggled in the postseason as much as the Brewers.

The Cowboys are doomed until at least Jerry is gone. I'm indifferent about them, but they need a real GM and they won't have one as long as Jerry has to be directly responsible for winning their next championship. The Herschel Walker trade set him up to think he is a genius at management and he has never relinquished control since then.

That's the world superstars live in though. Most of them would do the same things he did. Everything is about what's convenient for them at the present moment. It's their universe.

I could not care less about chasing a 1 seed or a division title. They have done nothing but disappoint out of those top seeds for years. As of today, I think DET is the best in the NFC. I think the Packers have played one complete game, against Arizona, but I think their best football is ahead of them. If they keep taking the ball away and Jacobs continues being a beast, they will be well positioned for a run.

I agree 97%, but I doubt that nobody wants to coach the Bucks. It's an NBA gig with Giannis. Plenty of guys would take it. There aren't that many jobs.

Ehhh. They wouldn't be any better with Holiday though. Dame was a risk they had to take. Holiday's limitations offensively are very real, and that is what the Bucks needed, a reliable second scorer. Those limitations are also masked in Boston because the roster is just better. That he isn't playing so great alongside Giannis wasn't predictable. They were definitely not going anywhere running it back again. So while it looks like the door is shut, I think it was a shakeup they had to try. Certainly not even close to trading Ray Allen away.

Every year there is a hot start team that fades because they aren't really that good. I think it's them. Got lucky to play GB when they did with Love being rusty, win against SF doesn't look that impressive anymore. They did pound the Texans but the other two wins are the Jets and Giants. I believe they are a worse team than DET and GB, Chicago isn't out of the realm but I won't say that with certainty. So say they finish 3rd in the divison, it would just mean they finish behind the Eagles and any other team. There is so much left to go that nothing would surprise me, not even finishing under .500.

I don't understand why the concept of raised expectations is seen as some negative awful thing. Purgatory doesn't mean sucking. The last two years of results have quite literally been the Kohl years, except way worse because the Bucks have one of the best players in the world and have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. They won more regular season games I guess, which frankly in the NBA is a big old yawn. It has nothing to do with forgetting. Injuries are only part of the excuse too, and not really something you can point to when the best players are old and oft-injured. I am as happy as anyone they brought a championship to Milwaukee but the feeling of stagnation around the Bucks is completely realistic and valid. I'm not even criticizing the team because the cap hell they're in was necessary to win and I would make the same deal 100/100 times. But it is just the reality of where they are now. They are in that bucket of teams that yes, will probably win 50 games, but everyone kinda knows they aren't going to be there in the end. If I were the Bucks I would seriously consider something drastic like sitting the star players every few games on a rotation or VERY light minute count. Anything possible to get the main 4 guys available in the playoffs.

% isn't the only story here though. Look at 50 yard attempts. That's a huge factor in %. The % would be a lot more noticeable if they were still making the same choices on attempts, but they aren't.

I think the Packers would still be using Anders if he had missed one PAT. His FGs weren't great but they were acceptable for a first-year kicker. But when you have 6 missed PATs, 7/13 from 40+, end the season on a playoff miss, then miss a gimmie in the preseason...you're not very good at anything. That's what did him in; he was a rollercoaster experience. If you are automatic from short and mid distance but weak in the leg, you can still get a job, or sacrifice some accuracy for power, but Anders wasn't giving you reliability in either way.

The guy is over 90% 5 of his last 6 seasons lol He had an uncharacteristically awful 2022 which accounted for the bulk of misses you cite. Frankly he is lucky they didn't dispose of him that year. Being 36/44 from 50+ will do that. Really he has spent the bulk of his career over 90 which is remarkable, and had 2 bad seasons bog things down. Morten Andersen is in the HOF with a career under 80% and not a single season at 90%. If you go to the generation after him, everybody is better. If you skip to this one, guys like Vinatieri and Vanderjagt would likely still be making it, but there's like 10 guys like that at any moment now. There are 12 guys over 90% this season, that's removing 3 players with 3 or fewer kicks. Anders career 82 would rank 25th in the league right now. I don't think the issue with Anders is people having unrealistic expectations. He isn't good.

That number has not been higher than 69% during any prior regular season." Now, this will probably taper off with bad weather, but I don't think there's a defense of Anders. He's just not reliable. He has a very talented leg so he might find something, but when he missed another chip shot in preseason, they had enough. 145/148 is insane. You HAVE to be make those kicks to stay employed in the NFL these days.

When people say a statistic is a lie, this is one of those lies. This essentially means he has a higher career average than Mason Crosby. Nobody else has kicked once since 2005 save for one season of Dave Rayner. The standard for kickers is MUCH higher than it was in 2005. The leaderboard for kickers in the 90s has you unemployed today. 82% isn't great, but you could live with it if the misses were all difficult kicks. That wasn't the problem with Anders. He couldn't make gimmies. You need to be damn near 100% from inside 45 yards these days. You get to miss one kick like that a year. Two of them and they are looking at the waiver wire. Three and you are done.

I think this sums it up nicely: "But who are we kidding: Four seasons removed from their championship campaign, the Bucks are spinning their tires, inching as close to the NBA's middle as they are title contention, burning the rest of Antetokounmpo's prime, and there will be a(nother) point when he can no longer stand the status quo." Will they win games? Sure. Are they a real contender? I would like to believe they are, but I just see too much age.

This is the least excited I've been about the Bucks probably since like 2015. I feel that we have entered purgatory.

I didn't see it but it's such a disappointment. Why they felt the need to do something so drastic with such a good story they had going, IDK. Just sucks.

That's fair, but in SF's case where else do they get better? I think they probably believe the QB is the best incremental improvement they could make. I think they will keep trying to hit on "the guy." Given their history of dumping guys that have won a lot of games, that's just what I believe will happen. I don't think it'll be today or tomorrow but I don't think he's their starter for the next 10 years.

He's much better than Jimmy but he's not a top QB. I view him as more the Kirk Cousins echelon. I think he benefitted a lot from not only the team he's on, but how unknown he was. Actually gives me the same vibe as Kyler Murray in that I kept hearing how amazing he was but every time I actually watch him, he is just "meh" on the eye test. The best thing they could do as a Packers fan, IMO, is lock him up long term. I don't see him being the guy.

The 49ers have shown a trend of getting everyone to believe a QB is better than he is, failing to get over the hump, then starting over at the position. The same thing is going to happen with Purdy. They know he isn't that great. His stats are his stats, but he threw the Packers like 4 interception-caliber balls in the divisional and he just doesn't pass the eye test. He's not that good. He's OK. They will be drafting a QB soon or going for a vet that has to be moved like Rodgers a few years ago.

Unpopular opinion: if the Brewers are out, I enjoy watching classic juggernauts go at it in the WS. I'd much rather watch this series than Tigers vs Braves

People do remember that Favre showed a pulse after GB though and nearly got back to the Super Bowl. Of course they remember why he didn't, but he did prove that he was still really good after GB. I think I'm fine with it. Rodgers doesn't have anything left to prove. It was clear a few years ago that his legacy was going to be one of the top 5 QBs to ever play, but also marked by a lot of "what if." I don't have an issue with the guy but when you put yourself into the spotlight like he does, people will have polarizing opinions of you. All will be forgotten when he's getting his name on the ring of honor in a few years at halftime of a game Love is playing. Peak Rodgers was truly something else though. Those MVP seasons and parts of a few others, the guy was just automatic.
