It's on Williams. When you make your living as "one of the best" closers, come into the biggest game of the year and immediately put guys on then give up the game losing bomb, the loss is on you. This is a rare instance where it is very easy to pin this on one guy. -
One of the reasons I hate the new format. Smaller markets now have a "chance" except no, they don't. They have an artificial chance like an 8 seed in the NBA. It was better before. If you had a good season and broke through, winning a 5 game series put you in the NLCS. This team would have had to go through 3 huge market juggernauts just to play in a WS. It has torpedoed my interest in the sport. One of the reasons I'm not too upset is that I never got really invested this year. After 2019 I lost a lot of passion for this team and league. It just doesn't feel like you have a real chance.

Yeah I already think the few posts here are overdoing it. He's a reliever with a reputation for being kind of a knucklehead. To be honest I'd expect that we get a prospect pitcher and a position player that most people really aren't high on, but they pan out better than anyone thinks. Seems to be how this goes. Initial disappointment that grows on everyone.

Probably like 2 ok prospects. I wouldn't be expecting anything really sexy.

There's so many possibilities as to who will come in and blow the save in an elimination game I really can't decide who it would be.

He needs to go. His legacy is this game and screwing them over royally by punching a wall. That stain has to go. Guy has always seemed like a bit of a dope. Get what you can for him now. I realize that he was going to close this game no matter what and any manager would have had him in there, but personally I despise these baseballisms. Just let Peralta finish the game. Have Williams warm if he puts a runner on base.

Williams isn't a great player. Between the wall punching and big stage choke I am totally ok with sending him out to sea. Million dollar arm, 10 cent head.

Repeat the obvious again. I'm saying it's stupid. The game is likely over already if you just run the same guy out again. And spare me the "best." The best don't pull this crap. He's an absolute choke artist. I understand what the closer does and it's the call every manager makes. I've always thought it was stupid. Peralta would have been just fine.

Well obviously. But it's stupid and just a random baseball thing. Just stick with the guy who got the outs and can easily go another inning.

Not bringing those 2 guys in in the 7th was ouch. Would have pesonally left Peralta in until he put someone on base. That said, equal parts inexcusable choke and expected Wisconsin moment.

Hated the Mears choice but he performed. Score a run and bring Devin out in the 8th.

Nobody can convince me that Mitchell shouldn't be out there in an elimination game getting as many at bats as possible.

Just relieved it's Myers and not some cute genius plan to throw a random reliever out there for 2 innings because the algorithm says so.

I'm happy they tied it but that double play was bad baseball. Put Perkins in motion or at least, IDK, sprint to first base and maybe have a chance. You'd possibly have one in scoring position with 1 out right now.
