  1. Campbell started off like a rocket, but certainly slowed down as the year progressed. I'm hoping the time off helped him heal up or recover to get back to his first half performance.
  2. True about Lowry this year. But in the past 4-5 years, we've had at best, 2/3rds of a D-line and often only 1/3rd. In 2016, we spent a 1st on Clark and a 4th on Lowry. After that, a 3rd on Adams (bust), 7th on Looney (turned into a TE), 5th on Keke (looked like a steal at the time, but I guess not), and a 5th on Slayton (good start, but work to do). UDFAs are signed, but I can't think of any regular FAs we've even signed above the vet minimum. We have a habit of finding and continually developing 4th round OL, but we don't draft enough DL to really accomplish the same nor compensate for our level of misses here.
  3. Oh you are mistaken....they loooove to find ways to deny those claims. Really? That seems pretty cut and dry. Once the insurer receives a death certificate, they should be able to process the claim. My first job out of college was in a sales role for a large life and annuity company. Do they push complicated, fee-laden products on people who don’t need them? Absolutely. But I don’t recall any clients having issues with claims. But at least the premiums decrease after your first claim!
  4. yes, but we tend to fix our O-line. Our D-line (outside of Clark) has been a bunch of nothing - both in draft capitol and actual production.
  5. Truth! Honestly, if you've lasted to the final 4 or final 2 in the NFC, it is going to be a difficult game and the Packers need to be at their best to win out. They don't get here if they are untalented and uncoached.
  6. I see MM being a much better coach in the 90s era (Holmgren). I think he got left behind in this more recent era of FB and just can't adjust.
  7. Chris Simms is confused as to who is playing the Raiders today. The Cincinnati football team or an 80s rock band. BANG-les BEN-gals
  8. First rule of investing is start early. Second rule is start now.
  9. You had me at "catches the ball cleanly".
  10. I have Google Mesh and am really happy with it. I have a 2800 sq ft house. The main unit is in the basement in the middle of the house near my DSL modem. The second is in the back of the house in the basement in a bedroom and serves the bedrooms above it. The third is in the front of the house upstairs in the living room. My original router in the front of the house in the living room, couldn't reach the back of the house. Now I have excellent coverage in all areas of the house. These don't have any microphones, so no physical "listening". This also has a feature of two wifi networks - normal + a "guest" network. Thus you can give a password to visitors while still separating your personal computer connections. I also put low-trust IoT devices on the guest network so that my stove doesn't become an entry point to my computer.
  11. What sort of real estate? Flipping? Rentals?
  12. Paid off my college debt after 3 years of working after college (didn't have much). Carried over a CC balance for one month my entire life. Paid off my last car loan in 1997 (my car payment goes into my pocket now). I try to buy cars that are 2-3 years old and sell them around 10 years old. Though technically I have a 10 year old and 16 year old cars right now because they run fine and this current COVID market is making used car sales crazy. So I'm waiting. Been maxing out my employer contribution to 401k since I started my professional career (7-8% min. Doing 10% now). I'm 47 and plan to retire at 60. Will still have a mortgage, but at 2.25%. Will have raised 6 kids at that point too. My advice: - Mortgage debt and college debt (assuming it leads to an improvement on your career) are the only debt worth carrying. - Start saving for retirement early. If it is too late for "early" start now. Max out your employer contributions as they are the highest possible ROI you will ever make. - Live within your budget, not your credit. - Don't be paralyzed by investment options. If you don't like investment lingo, hit the easy button and do the 401k "retire in year XXXX" mutual funds. Then learn more as you go. I didn't understand much about the retirement rules until just this past year. My approach when younger was simply to save as much as I could (targeting 10%) and dealing with the details later. Things change in 40 years anyway. - I'll have put 3 of my 6 kids (college isn't for everyone) through college and paying at least half of it for them (it is important that they earn it also and not just given to them). I started investing in a 529b account for them when they were pretty young. About half of what we are getting out of the account is earnings on the money put in... Starting early is important. So they are getting half of their college covered, while I'm only paying for 1/4 of it out of pocket.
  13. If you do that, pay your mortgage every 2 weeks (half your monthly mortgage each payment). That essentially will add 1 monthly payment per year, plus save some interest as it won't compound as fast. Plus, most people are paid every two weeks, so there is good alignment to the paycheck.
  14. The Bears generally have had good special teams. Just saying. Double-doink! (Ok, that doesn't nullify their return/coverage teams, but it is just fun saying...and even funnier watching it)
  15. Also, in getting the Chiefs base on their 2020-21 schedule, it was very likely that they would be very good this year (frankly, we got lucky to catch them in a funk, but unfortunate Rodgers missed it). Tennessee will be good, but I'd bet money that they won't be close to the #1 seed next year.
  16. The Badgers under Dick Bennett, Bo Ryan, and Greg Gard always seem to be the total is greater than the sum of the parts type of team. But yes, I think top 10 seems too high. If they had another 3pt shooter, maybe? Or better offensive balance at least.
  17. Two games in Florida next year. Hopefully games later in the year so they'll get more WI travellers flocking to FL sun.
  18. If I ever meet your Dad, I'll know not to debate him!
  19. Ha! I was watching this game while bowling and wondering why Nwora was starting PG. Incidentally, this was the first Buck's game I got to see this year. I'll admit NBA basketball is a distant third to football and baseball, but it seems like Bucks games are hard to watch outside WI. I don't pay for ESPN either, which is part of it. Good to see the team beat the Nets handily though.
  20. Seeing Z-Smith being cleared this morning got me pumped. Even if he is limited to 10-15 snaps, what a huge boost to the team. Not only will teams have to deal with Gary-Z-Clark-P in pass rush sets, but that is 10-15 snaps less of our backup OLBs that is probably our weakest position on the team. I'm also curious about how Alexander will change our D. With a bum shoulder, they are going to keep him out of the slot I'd assume (i.e. further away from potential run-game action). I've always seen Douglas as more an outside CB and preferably in zone, but perhaps he can play slot. But Sullivan hasn't been bad there either. And of course Stokes has been great outside with his speed. I wonder if they would just move Alexander around with the other teams' #1 WR and shuffle Douglas/Stokes accordingly? The #1 WR normally doesn't run block too much. And it was great to see Myers and Bakh back yesterday. Myers and Runyan combo-blocked some big holes yesterday - a thing of beauty. Bakh looked himself too, which is great to see. Nijman clearly was being held back to step in after Bakh was ready for a break, but I still wonder if he might shift to RT and move Turner to RG. I was a bit surprised to see Patrick over Newman. I knew Newman would be out if Jenkins moved back inside (Jenkins-Myers-Runyan), but still surprised to see Patrick favored over him. I also don't see Lazard diminishing that much with Cobb back in. He run blocks so much, he is almost more like Tonyan's replacement than Cobbs. His uptick in production came when Tonyan was out.
  21. The easiest way IMO is to project out what your income needs would be. Most places I've seen say that you need 80-90% of your current income in retirement (based on whether you have a mortgage or want to travel, etc..) Then your income times 25 would be your retirement need to last approx 30 years. https://www.fool.com/retirement/how-much-do-i-need/ If you are X years from retirement, you can project your current 80-90% income by the typical 2-3% average inflation and use that as your target. Of course, there are many special circumstances that may factor in. Your retirement income needs might drop considerably from current if you have kids that move out of the house. Or pay off your mortgage. Or you may have kids still living with you... The idea is to project out your potential future annual income needs. Do a best case and worst case scenario and see what variations might be there. I did this for myself a year ago and feel much better about my plan to retire at 59.5. Plus, I know what my variables are and can work on them to mitigate the "worst case" scenarios (e.g. pay off my mortgage sooner).
  22. I just saw some replays of the Davidson 3ptr. I couldn't quite tell if he got ball or hand (or both) at the top. And certainly Brad stuck his leg out. But even without his leg out, McCaffrey clearly came down on Davidson and made bodily contact. Certainly 100% more contact in there than in the Bohannan clip.
  23. Never said anything of the sort, for the record, as I agree. That was the beginning point of my post of him "not being a bad person" where you started debating that he might possibly be a bad person because maybe he doesn't love his momma.
  24. With a pseudo-bye week this week and a real bye week next week... these discussions could drag on pretty long!
  25. To be fair, that's not what was said. What was said was that we don't know if his behind-the-scenes situation with his family has stuff in it that would place him in that category. I guess I tend to trend toward the thought that anyone that treats their mother like crap save for those abused by said mother certainly COULD fall in that category, but again, I don't know anything beyond that he's estranged from every member of his immediate family, which seems beyond abnormal. Based on this, everyone in the NFL could be a bad person because we don't know their behind-the-scenes situation with any of their families (and some are truly bad behind the scenes). It is just because he is estranged from his family that it even gets brought up. Not sure it is fair to judge him without knowing the actual reason or situation. Still nothing that comes remotely close to detracting from an MVP award.
