  1. Hawkeye is good, but pretty standard Disney fair. Good action, but semi-predictable story-line and an obvious hand-off from the "old heros" to the "new heros" for the next-gen of movies.
  2. Very nice! I assume you have it on a patio or something? I want one of those at some point in my life. I've done frozen pizza over a campfire (tripod grate with a weber cover on top) and if you can get the distance right, it is incredible. One thing I've not done much of in my Chargriller 980 grill/smoker is pizza. I did one time with pre-made crust and it was good, but not something to keep going back to. I want to try homemade crust one of these days. The grill will go up to 550 closed or 700 open, so plenty hot enough for pizza.
  3. If a few companies can hold a monopoly, then you are probably correct. But there are two back breakers that differentiate streaming services from sat/cable companies: 1) Entry into service is much lower. There is no hardware that you need to install from the company to enable their services. This is very much a BYOD setup and that device can generally stream many different sources. Also, new streaming services and content is being added all the time. YouTube is still relatively new to TV even. Along with Sling, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, Fubo, Paramount, etc... there are plenty of people out there competing. 2) No contracts. Streaming services not only don't have contracts, but they have enabled account pauses or just simple cancel/re-enable of services. Sure, they could retract those features, but it is really hard to undo that once the cat is out of the bag (assuming there is enough competition). Look at cellphones as an example. Could you imagine staying with a cellphone company that made you sign a 2 year contract and pay per minute of talk, each text, and MB of data? By comparison, most markets only support satellite and one cable company (if that). And they are maintaining the streaming services, infrastructure to get it to your house (dish or cable), and the HW inside your house. It is much easier for these streaming services to simply support the content stream alone. Assuming something doesn't happen to drive down competition, I tend to doubt streaming services will get that bad, simply because it is too easy to switch to something else.
  4. I would be really upset to see the Packer-Browns game moved because I'm going! It is my son's 16th B-day present (Dec 9th birthday). We could still go on Monday as we are both on vacation break, but still... This will be my 3rd game, but only my first regular season game (one pre-season, one playoff). My son's first game.
  5. I watched the game yesterday and kept hearing them say "Hundley"... I was thinking, NO... it couldn't be Brett. He looks SO much better than Brett was. I was relieved to see "Huntley" instead on his back. I was very impressed by Tyler. Honestly, he looks like a better QB than LJ to me (admitting that I prefer pass-first QBs over run-first). Small sample surely, but a very nice accurate arm while still dangerous with his legs. LJ might have a higher peak, but the wear and tear on run-first QBs just brings them down so quickly (and it already seems as if that might be happening for LJ).
  6. I hate the "jump-and-point" game. I hate it when Bakh does it, I hate it when anyone does it. If there is an obvious reaction by the offense due to the D jumping offsides (or snaps the ball and catches them in), fine. But if the OL jumps a second later an points at the DL moving backwards to get back onsides... that should be a false start, IMO.
  7. Yes, that was a cheap shot on my part. I agree that Mertz did improve over the course of the season. However, QB'ing in the Big 10 would have to reach historic lows for Mertz to grade as the best of the bunch. I'll admit my ignorance as to what the BIG10 will have for QBs in the next two years. But my main point was projecting what Mertz looked like at the beginning of the season vs the end. He matured a lot. He started making throws he couldn't make at the beginning of the season. Project that improvement over two more years and yeah...he could be very good. Or kind of like Joel Stave...just plateau and remain a big-armed tease.
  8. I'm not familiar with their current coaching positions, but I wonder if FL State or U-Miami would go for him to try to return to some prominence in the CFB realm. Given the issues in Jacksonville, remaining the same state might not fly, but those are two big programs historically that haven't been very good lately. Or maybe Nebraska.
  9. Easy to dump on the kid, but I'll stick my neck out and say that Mertz had some really good improvement this year. Slower than I would've liked, but he is still developing. Early in the season, he couldn't complete a sideline fade to save his life (basically only over the middle and wide open dumps to the sidelines). He also looked like a shell-shocked puppy if there was a pass-rusher within 10 feet. Over the second half of the season, he was looking much more comfortable completing passes to WR outside the numbers. And while, pressure certainly does still bother him, he looks a bit more calm and reacted much better than the first half of the year. Mertz has work to do yet, but I think next year or his senior year, he could be the best QB in the B10.
  10. Regarding Turner, it sounds like an MCL issue and not ACL. Thus the typical 2-4 weeks...more likely less given the OL doesn't really run/cut like a RB/WR.
  11. I agree with you, the pizza in Italy is too simple and didn't impress me much either. It was ok, I don't want to say it was bad, just not what I was hoping for. As a whole, the food in Italy didn't impress me, pasta included. I fully recognize that it's because I'm used to Americanized Italian food but sadly the fact remains. Where did you eat in Italy? I found Italian food incredibly rich and delicious...with dirt cheap local wines to boot. Daily, I'd venture to the Markets and grab cheese, fresh bread, produce...go grab a couple bottles of wine. LOL. I think I gained 15 pounds? Everything else I ate in Italy (Turin) was great. But the pizza was kind of meh. I followed the advice of a friend and ate a style I wouldn't normally otherwise (artichokes, hardly any cheese, etc...). I'm sure a different type would be better. I had a brick-oven pizza in Germany that was excellent (ironically).
  12. Depends which Vikings team shows up. That team is maddeningly inconsistent. As a Packer fan, I hope it's the team that lost to the lowly Lions that shows up in Lambeau in a few weeks. It is quite possible that the Vikings will no longer have anything to play for, and will simply be playing out the string by then. Any given Sunday...,but I don't fear the Vikings on cold Lambeau grass as much as inside a dome. They are build for speed and I think they will be much easier to handle on grass in the cold. Would be great to have Jaire back to cover Jefferson too.
  13. Ironically, I didn't care for the pizza I had in Italy. But a good wood-fired hand-tossed or chicago-style deepdish (i.e. Eduardo's in Milwaukee in the 90s) pizza I would go out of my way for. But thin crust... nah.
  14. This is an interesting twist to these negotiations now. In the past, you had cable or a satellite carrier do this, you just sat without the channel and waited for them to resolve it. Now, there is a pretty clear ability for both the channel and the carrier to know exactly the value of their channel - people that leave to see that channel on another streaming service make it pretty obvious the value of that channel.
  15. Thanks. I'm in the south side and have friends that head up to Stillwater on occasion, but I've not spent much time there. Will have to give it a try.
  16. Kurt Benkert with this epic Twitter post [sarcasm]Guy rushed for -2 yards. Cut the bum![/sarcasm]
  17. Brewer Development Scout position open: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-milwaukee-brewers-development-scout/ [sarcasm]For all of you that know so much better how to do things than our front office, now is the time to put up or shut up![/sarcasm]
  18. Fixed it for you. Fair catch or not...doesn't matter if he can't catch it.
  19. I'm sure their fanbases were annoyed at those trades at the time but picks like that can turn around a team quickly. You realize that one of those teams mentioned are the Jets, right?
  20. I'm hoping Turner can return. He is probably the lowest performer of the 4 starters that are out and I'm guessing he gets cut for cap reasons next year. But still would be nice to have him back. Yosh has been pretty solid honestly...save for a couple plays last night. Would be interesting to see him on the RT side. Losing Jenkins was a blow just because I felt that Newman has been very inconsistent (hello Newman!) and it would be a big step up to push him to be a backup for now. But a Bak-Runyan-Myers-Newman-Turner OL should be pretty strong for the playoffs. Hopefully we see Bak back soon to get back in game shape.
  21. +1 This is pretty common place, unfortunately. We had a weird change for recruiting interns this year and they wouldn't allow me to interview for my own intern. Our business chose people in the company to go recruit at certain college events and my intern was offered a job on the spot. I asked what they were doing with the public posting and they said they weren't allowed to consider anyone that applied - only through the recruiting events. At best, it seems border-line legal, but certainly not ethical.
  22. So do I need approval to post and view certain threads now? Where did I say that? I said I was confused as to why you come here and keep telling us how you don't want to cut the cord. It doesn't really contribute to the point of the thread.
  23. Pothole pizza at Kwik Trip was excellent (for frozen pizza). I though the topping/cheese balance on the top was perfect, but I'll admit that it was a bit greasy. Still very good. They are on the higher end for cost and unfortunately in MN, we don't get the discount with the Packers win.
  24. We've kept a kicker on the PS all year and protected him each game. I'm guessing there is a reason for that. Welcome to MLF's first post bye win! But the team did seem to be dazed and confused the first half. They looked completely different the second half. Not sure if the coach's struggle to prepare the team during a bye week or ??? As others said, ST was stunningly bad, but at least Crosby's FG/XP kicks were clean. Malik Taylor has no reason to be on this team. Rodgers had a couple nice returns buried in the fact that he can't seem to cleanly field the ball. That is at least the second time the ball glanced off his facemask this year - concentrations issues? And punt and kickoff coverage??? oy vey Our offensive line is now down to 1 starting guard (not sure if that would be Runyan or Newman) and 4 backups. Missing Bak, Jenkins, Myers and Turner, yet they keep getting it done. Not sure I want to see that line in the playoffs though... Nice to see Deguara looking faster and more comfortable in the offense. That lessons the loss of Tonyan. Rasul Douglas - Wow. That is all.
  25. [sarcasm]Hmm... I wonder why that might be...[/sarcasm]
