  1. I'm not sure hitting makes sense for Perkins anymore. I'm not sure what happened to him, but he can't even hit Ortiz level... at some point I thought he'd be a great platoon partner for Mitchell, but his bat completely disappeared. Time to move to AAA and see if he can find something again. Going into arbitration next year is pretty much a death sentence for his future with the Brewers (plus Lara is practically a 1 for 1 replacement of him).
  2. Now demote Blake down and Jett up. Lara gets the RHB opportunities for Frelick. Mitchell has been on fire, so it is hard to sit him for Lara.
  3. Drohan has been a bigger surprise this year than Harrison! When the trade came in, I thought he was going to be the typical AAAA player/BP long man/emergency starter. He has really proven himself worthy of a #3-4 starter and similar to last year's Priester. Boston must just hate us... (although Durbin has looked much better lately).
  4. You lost me at Willson... Just no.
  5. I think you hang onto Contreras until he is a FA. If the salary cap/floor changes our FA approach, maybe you have a chance to extend him. But we have no legit other option at catcher, so there is no way they trade him now. If Quero's arm hasn't come around by the end of the year, maybe we see a trade for another young catcher?
  6. I stated it a few times when calling up Pratt discussion was going on... you see if Pratt is ready. If not, you trade for a SS or 3B (or both). Pratt still needs to earn the SS starter position.
  7. Might as well start a new thread to kick of the new era of Buck's Basketball. We exit the Giannis era and enter the "Try a whole bunch of guys and see what sticks" era. AKA - "Only one more year of Kuz" era. The current depth chart looks like: I'd imagine the team is going to still several moves as we have a few vets that other teams might want to poach... or maybe we just run this out and see what happens? Current roster looks like this: Pos. No. Player Height Weight DOB From F — Nate Ament (DP) 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) 211 lb (96 kg) 2006-12-10 Tennessee G 0 Brayden Burries (DP) 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m) 205 lb (93 kg) 2005-09-18 Arizona C 40 Rafael Castro (TW) 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m) 220 lb (100 kg) 2003-03-30 George Washington F 21 Ousmane Dieng 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) 185 lb (84 kg) 2003-05-21 France G 20 A. But regardless, it will be on the bottom half of the league.
  8. How it started: Brewers are clearly trading for the future and the Mets are going for it this year! Mets Receive: RHP Freddy Peralta, RHP Tobias Myers. Brewers Receive: Jett Williams (Infielder/Outfielder, Mets' No. 3 prospect at the time) and Brandon Sproat (RHP, Mets' No. 5 prospect) How its going: Brewers 52-31 Sproat: -0.2 WAR, 5.28 ERA Mets 36-50 Peralta: +0.2 WAR, 4.53 ERA Meyers: -0.7 WAR, 6.21 ERA I wonder how much it would cost to get Meyers or Peralta back?
  9. Always great to add another Fanatic! Welcome!
  10. True, but I don't think Giannis was committed anymore either. He said all the right things, but the body language said otherwise.
  11. He is not going to get 5 stars on his AirBnB rating...but I wonder if this will drive demand down or up?
  12. I will stipulate that to Milwaukee, Giannis had a bigger impact. To Wisconsin, it is Favre hands down. You need to remove your anti-Packer/anti-Favre bias to see it. Wisconsin is about the Packers first, Brewers second and Bucks are a distant third. You forget that the Packers were struggling in GB and playing a few games in Milwaukee every year. There were discussions about them moving to Milwaukee permanently or worse. But then all of that reversed. It wasn't just because of Favre, but he became the figure head of it. But people tend to forget those days... Though Roger's 25-6 record against the Bears does trump Favre's record of 22-10. Either one of those is enough to win the state though! 😂 Reggie's impact was legitimizing GB as a free agent destination. Maybe not as big, but as a personality overall, I'd go with Reggie. I had the opinion of letting Favre stay until he retired... but then he waffled...and hemmed and hawed. Retired and then didn't. It became time to go. Rogers did likewise. Skipping OTAs and telling the team to have the WRs ready for him? Bah... egos just get too big. Enter Giannis. I love the guy, but there was just too much smoke to ignore the rumors. The ego grew too big, he stopped being a team player, interfered with coach hiring decisions... blah. No thanks. The only difference between Giannis leaving and Favre/Rodgers is that there are no succession plan and no hope of getting one in the future because they bet the farm on Giannis when he was here. I'm sad that 2020-22 Giannis is gone, but I'm happy that 2025 Giannis is gone. If you took a poll, I'd guess you'd find that opinion more often than note.
  13. Just make sure you treat yourself right... buy yourself some flowers and take yourself to somewhere nice! Hope you don't mind that I added "Hammerin" to the title. 😉 I strongly disagree. The Packers are FAR more popular than the Bucks. I'd guess a poll of fans last year would pick Favre over Giannis - even with recency bias in his favor. I think Lombardi, Reggie White, and Rogers beat out Giannis too. Overall Uecker is a great choice, but I think the forgotten name in this conversation is Bart Starr. Obviously he had impact with the team as a player (long before I can remember), but he was a community giant his entire life. He would get my vote.
  14. I'm no spring chicken and I was only 2 years old when Hank retired from the Brewers... I was wondering if it was Hank the dog too. I'm guessing a few people on the board actually remember him play...but probably not many. I tend to think a superstar in Basketball has more impact than a superstar in baseball and football (except at QB). Maybe a more apt (and still difficult question) would be comparing Giannis to Kareem. But that is pretty much the same era (though I did see Kareem play with the Lakers). But the common thing that Giannis, Kareem, and Hank all had was... 1 championship for Milwaukee.
  15. I think he was referring to how Harris looked like a bust for the Bucks, but figured it out after they traded him away.
  16. I'd list the main factors in order of impact as: Injuries (especially the 2-3 years after the championship) Giannis' team takeover - pushing coaching decisions, not playing team ball, whatever you call last year.... Poor drafting/trades. Though, I think there was a pretty big gap between 1 and 2. 2 and 3 are pretty neck-and-neck.
  17. I wonder what Nolan Ryan could throw these days... 😂
  18. Let's keep the in game threads about baseball please. The last couple have gotten a bit testy with some user reports for veiled insults. This is meant for everyone (not just Willie Key), but since it already begun, here it is.
  19. Of course, that is so they don't have to start him in October...
  20. I wonder what the odds are that Musgrave doesn't make it out of TC? If Whyle passed him on the depth chart and Kraft is ready to play, I'm going to guess they go with Luke Lachey or another blocking first TE instead as our 3rd TE. Seems like Musgrave came in at his peak... he really hasn't developed in passing or blocking games. Maybe he is a trade candidate if we need another RB or CB. I'm guessing they are waiting for more info on the investigation. I tend to think that without any charges, there wouldn't be suspension. Watson's case is a bit unique, but there was the non-criminal lawsuit that drove that one.
  21. Just about anyone hitting 368 is going to be a small sample size fluke. Pitchers will get more info on him and start poking at weak spots. But he does look like he came in with a good approach - KISS and put the bat on the ball. Hitting 240/320/350/670 is probably the ceiling we should expect in his first year. That is about what 2nd year Brice Turang hit
  22. I'm thinking the top 20-30 was for slot CBs a few years back. Looks like he has mainly been in the 30-40 range. So basically a good #2 CB.
  23. Technically, all CBs are terrible if they have to cover for a long time. Last year was not one of Nixon's best, but the board has this discussion every year... By just about any rating metric, he grades out in the middle of the starting CBs; something in the 20-30 range. Valentine has generally been just a tick behind (I think last year he was a tick ahead? - I'm too lazy today to look it up). But he plateaued and really hasn't improved (much) on his rookie year. You can get by with excellent S and Edge players. An upgrade is certainly warranted (especially if you want to win the SB), but it hasn't been our biggest hole either.
  24. If the Bucks actually trade Giannis, I'm sure you'll have nailed the trade in one of your guesses... simply by sheer volume! 😂
