  1. Shaw might be a sneaky NFL UDFA pickup. Good size and speed, but injury stole any chance to really play much.
  2. We need one with Taylor scoring the TD backwards and caption it, "Taylor backs the truck up to take the axe home."
  3. Not really cute. I wish the Packers would use the screen more when teams get a heavy pass rush on them.
  4. Minnesota needed 3 ints and a perfect passing game at home to beat Penn state. If they don't get perfection, they are a 20 something ranked team. Playing Iowa and Wisconsin is bringing the facade down like Paul Bunyan taking down a tree with Wisconsin's axe.
  5. Isn't this a very common occurrence to "hide" a pitcher in the BP for the year (and that was with 25-man rosters); especially on the worse teams? I know the Brewers have done it several times.
  6. On Urias' milb.com page, there were a few articles about his defense (including comments from him stating that the was working on his SS defense), so I'd assume its more of a known issue. Maybe its MLB passible, but not what Arcia is capable of doing. His 2018 MLB prospect ranking seems to sum it well: Urias proved plenty capable at shortstop in 2017, first in Double-A and then in the Arizona Fall League, and should continue to see some time there moving forward. His ultimate defensive home, however, is likely second base, where he profiles as an above-average defender with good range and arm strength. Overall, Urias has the ingredients to hit atop a lineup while manning a middle-infield position for a long, long time. So odd thought... if we were going for Lindor, what if Huira was the bait and Urias is slated for 2B?
  7. Martinez is really dropping the ball in his FA year. His weaknesses are really getting highlighted. And he is great at tackling players... 6 yards downfield. MLB and DL have serious upgrade needs here.
  8. Exactly, no NBA defense is going to take away everything...which is why I stated that it says something about the NBA offensive skill (and the desired type of play) in the NBA. No one wants to watch a Detroit Pistons circa 1990 slug-fest game. Yes, individual games someone will beat them. All teams have that "problem". And the NBA finals last year, it was the Buck's offense (or lack of) that lost the series (in 7 games) and not the defense.
  9. If MN loses to WI and gets the Rose Bowl over WI (whose fans travel rapidly), there should be an investigation. Now way does MN lose to WI and get in the Rose Bowl based on one good win (Penn State).
  10. Keep trading with the Padres! Pretty amazing get. I thought Trent would be our LF after Braun is gone next year (and sits often this year), but LFers are much easier to get than SSs. I wonder if Lauer might be a Pomeranz replacement in the pen (as well as a backup starter).
  11. I psuedo-randomly picked 400yards/season to mark success for a running QB: Vick: 6 seasons out of 13 years - obviously dog abuse shorted this, but his QBR was dropping plus age slowing him. Newton: 7 of 8 years (or 9 since he is out this year) - Age and minor injuries slowing him a bit. Kaepernick: 4 of 6 (last two years had sub 50 QBR, only topped 70 once. Perhaps politics, but his passing performance was dropping badly) Young: 4 of 15 - pass-first QB, but scrambled a lot. Cunningham: 6 of 16 - Age slowed him down. Wilson: 5 of 7 (might be close this year) - Passing improved with age, reducing his rushing, but still a dual threat. RG3: 2 of 5 - horrible injury Josh Allen: 1 of 1 (on pace to do it this year) McNair: 5 of 13 - age slowed him down. Tebow: 1 of 3 - passing performance was poor. McNabb: 3 of 13 - Age slowed him down. Culpepper: 5 of 11 - bad knee injury Jackson: 2 for 2 including this year Seems like age is the first reason QBs slow down rushing (minor injuries could be blamed here also). Lack of passing accuracy (i.e. QB isn't starting due to poor passing performance) is second with horrible injuries third.
  12. If the numbers say they are the second-best team in the league and by eyeball test, you think they should be better, that might say something about the offensive talent in the league more than the Buck's actual defensive capabilities. Time to adjust expectations.
  13. Weather in the Twin Cities is supposed to be rainy/snowy, which would favor the Badger's run game. But if MN is not the favored team, they have a huge motivation factor to prove themselves...again. It will be a tough game the way our defense has played recently.
  14. Possibly towards left center. For a fraction of a second. Maybe towards right center. Not really sure. As stated by the Cardinals and the Cubs... In other news, water is wet.
  15. Every batter calls time, glances out to the left-center, gives a little head nod, and steps back in.
  16. The latter, yes. The former, not looking that way so far. Happ's ability to distribute the ball and create open shots for others is underappreciated. Happ was a great talent, but he played a BB style from 20 years ago. I'm also expecting the flow to look better this year, but it's pretty early yet.
  17. I hated Eli Manning for how he pushed his way out of SD, but ultimately he made the right choice. Rivers is a far better QB, but unfortunately, the Chargers kill the career of good QBs. Dan Fouts too.
  18. [sarcasm]I'm throwing the challenge flag on that one. The refs are reviewing it and... they agree with you.[/sarcasm] Ro-Lo might start on a few teams, but I'd be surprised if any of the others could. Korver has the talent, but too old to start regularly. The rest are backups on any team. I like the depth we have, but that was a bit too optimistic, IMO.
  19. I don't think the point is "K" vs. "Other Outs". I think the point is if you K 50% of the time, you just aren't good at hitting the ball.
  20. I always went in this direction: http://bestanimations.com/Games/Computer/MortalCombat/Subzero/subzero-mortal-kombat-animated-gif-2.gif
  21. I didn't realize Brett ended up in the NFL... I suppose his college career really didn't end well and he wasn't going to get another HC shot (for a while at least).
  22. I remember when Majik-man was the QB I expected to finally lead us to be a great team. I was devastated when he went down and Favre had to step in.
  23. That wasn't my point. Being at the game was the only way to simultaneously see ALL the officials and how they reacted. Also, my example of the Graham play is something likely not shiwn on TV at all. Obviously my live view of TD/ no TD can't compete with zoom ins, slow mo, multiple camera an GB les, etc. Actually, from the TV view, I thought the TD call was odd. They were obviously disagreeing and no one spoke to each other to confirm. One was spotting the ball short, one was motioning 1st down Packers, one was calling it a TD...
  24. Those aren't sad from a winning football and team standpoint but from Cephas' chance to put up stats, 199 yds/game and 1.3 TDs/game passing aren't great.
