  1. Online... absolutely! Wedding, babies, whatever... Smartphones make it much easier to manage and pushes people to buy stuff in your store. Why not promote it?
  2. Players that will probably come up in the next 2 years: - Lewis Brinson - Josh Hader - Brett Phillips - Brandon Woodruff - Jorge Lopez - Jacob Nottingham - Ryan Cordell - Mauricio Dubon - Wei-Chung Wang Others that will be close: - Luis Ortiz - Phil Bickford - Isan Diaz - Corey Ray - Lucas Erceg - Cody Ponce Not all of those players hit it big, but certainly a lot of MLB talent is coming. Add that in with some of the long(er) term pieces already there: - Braun, Guerra, Susac, Broxton, Vilar, Arcia, Thames, Shaw, Santana, Davies, Knebel, Barnes, Nelson, Peralta (in the pen hopefully) I don't think 500 is out of the question for 2018. And since it will be done on the backs (mostly) of younger ascending players, I would expect it to be "real". Obviously, the key is how quickly the young guys adjust to the MLB level and make an impact. I think most people thought the Cubs would ascend slower than they did.
  3. Ryan Braun's #1 comp for this year is Dusty Baker. I sure hope he doesn't have any say in pitching decisions... And its probably not a great sign that our current pitching staff comps out similar to many former Brewer pitchers: Brandon Woodruff -> Ben Hendrickson Wily Peralta -> Wes Obermueller Corey Knebel -> Francisco Cordero Ryan Webb -> Chuck Crim
  4. Yes, but Raji is way to short to play center. Granted, him just standing there means everyone would be at least 3 feet from the basket.
  5. Or maybe we should curse you for having the read the same arguments made over and over and over Exactly! I was going to say something about being nice [sarcasm]and not kicking you out for starting this![/sarcasm]
  6. I've never found out, but one would think that each and every organizational player, top to bottom, would undergo a club-sponsored eye exam each offseason. But I doubt that's the case, which amazes me. Great googaly-moogaly. Yes, with millions of dollars being spent on player procurement and development, one would think a $100 eye exam is a requirement... Even the movies understand that. http://www.lasertimepodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/rickvaugh-1024x576.jpg
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if we're over .500 by 2018. Which is close to payoff contention.
  8. Were did he register for an Ace pitcher?
  9. You do realize that being a 5 and being a post-player are not necessarily the same things, right? No one has said that he need to be a post-up player. Maker could easily grow to the 240-250lb range that would allow him the bulk to manage defending the opposing center. IF he can handle the defensive side of the Center position, imagine a lineup of Giannis, Middleton, Parker, Maker and Dellavedova (or whomever) where no one is clogging the middle offensively (hello Anthony Mason), thus allowing for plenty of room to drive to the hoop. Or driving and kicking it out to any of the other 4 players that have 3pt range. When you have a player that breaks the traditional molds, it doesn't mean you have to force him back into that mold (i.e. a center being a post-up player). See, I envision his 5 differently. Because he's long, lean and athletic. He'll cause problems to bigger #5s not being able to shoot over him, dribble a few times more and with how the Bucks Athletically are appearing on paper mean long arms like Giannis to steal the bowl or catch poor passouts. You can't teach height. He's over 7' tall. This is not like he is facing Shaq's every game out. I see him average defensively with what he'd bring as a 3pt threat offensively, just making 1-1 for Giannis childs play and wreck defenses. Brogdon, Parker, Middleton, Maker on 1 side of the court or 3/1 stretching the defense.... I mean Giannis is already attempting behind the back passes. Get a guy like Maker or Parker diving in behind Giannis on his drive to the basket which he clears out for easy layins and dunks. I think you and I see his version of a #5 very similarly.
  10. Is there any real benefit to doing this over cutting it up completely and grilling the pieces? I've thought about this with a turkey but it seems like it would take up much more room. Also, my wife buzzed me last weekend with a "are you back to grilling this weekend?" With temps below 0 and a foot of snow on the grill, I hadn't used it in a couple weeks. So steak/burgers Friday night and pulled pork on Saturday night.
  11. Continued from: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=34813#p1016167 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=2392 Zippers are harsh. Skin is soft. Its how I was taught. I have no other reasoning. Just keep your eyes up!
  12. Put two or three kicking nets on the Giant's sideline. Maybe they will take care of Beckham...

  14. Did you take in any games or scout any players for us?
  15. Anyone with recent experience on the new windows 2-in-1 laptop/tablets? I'm looking at Dell Inspiron 15 7000 vs HP Specter x360? But I'm concerned about how the hinges hold up.
  16. Make is a wing player right now because he lacks NBA strength. I would expect him to put on 15-20 lbs of muscle over the next couple years (he is only 19 after all) and play 4 and 5 positions. If he can handle center defensively, I think that would be exactly what the Bucks want. A center that doesn't need to be 5 feet from the basket (clogging the middle of the offense) and still be a threat. A center than can run with an offensive fast break. And a center that can switch on defense on picks.
  17. We are also in the "news creation" portion of the MLB year (i.e. making up possible rumors to generate anything half-way interesting to read in a dry-zone of baseball happenings). So people seeing Encarnacion sign with the Indians and figure that you need to replace him somehow. Not caring if there is an internal replacement or just not going to be replaced at that same level.
  18. I would've grown up a Twins fan and had two WS wins in my lifetime! That's double the Cubs. And I could've still been a Molly fan! I lost interest in NHL when the NorthStars left Minnesota, leaving two of the biggest hockey states in the US without an NHL team... Even bringing the Wild back wasn't enough to pique my interest. College Hockey and basketball are way better then the professional versions.
  19. Thames is literally dead last of 594 batters at -1.8. Matt Davidson is the only other batter with -1.0 to be at or below -1.0 Corey Hart and Nate McClouth have a higher projection value, as does Adam Brett Walker. [sarcasm]Resign Corey Hart![/sarcasm] I wonder how they manage Thames' projection? Do they use the two years of MLB data then add zeros for the last three years? Or do they have some way of watering down the KBO numbers and use them (maybe as AA or AAA numbers)? I would imagine that he is pretty hard to project. I'd expect a 700 OPS at a minimum and 800 at the max. I'd think 750 is a reasonable guess.
  20. *FACEPALM* I'm feeling wimpy because I didn't grill this weekend. I still need to shovel off my grill and deck and my patio door froze shut on Sunday. Ok, I do cut if off in negative temps, but no need to stop otherwise.
  21. Whoa... how many hands do you need to urinate? Or do you mean a double handed texter? I still think taking a phone call in the toilet is worse. And I've heard that at work (with adults), not at schools
  22. Today, we had a conference call about a product design for a new customer (we have had daily calls on this for over a week now). My boss stated on the phone that he didn't understand why I was concerned about a particular feature. He has spoken to one of the people that report to me in person and didn't think anything I had stated was justified. He didn't realize I was on the call. So I reiterated my concern and then followed it up with an email with a picture to clarify. Later, he responded to me and added the other person and wanted clarification because what I said didn't match what my boss heard from the other person. But my team-member stated that I was correct in my explanation and assessment of the issue. My team-member is now the expert on this feature, but I was part of the team the originally designed it and handed it off to him. Nice to find out what your boss thinks of you... (fyi, both my boss and I are engineers, but he has no work experience in my engineering specialty).
  23. I was pretty impressed by Maker in the pre-season. He looks like Manute Bol out there being so tall and skinny, but he actually moves well and shoots smoother than Giannis. Things look very natural for him. Certainly he needs a year or two to put on muscle, but the guy looks every bit the part of an NBA ball-player.
  24. Here's the thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=33847&p=976995&hilit=predictions#p976995 The win-loss predictions are a reasonable distribution around an average number of wins in the low 70's. This team is staring to bring up talent, and even without Braun 75 wins isn't pie-in-the-sky dreaming. Trading a starting pitcher or two might well push the expected wins into the 60's. Our predictions involving individual players was a little less correlated with reality. My point was that most people here, despite being big (homer) brewer fans doesn't mean we walk around with pie-in-the-sky brewer glasses on. Certainly, people vary greatly on what we expect someone to do, but often it isn't over the top expectations. The further a prospect is away from the MLB level, the wider variation you will experience, but that is pretty normal. Just from the prediction thread last year (beyond a few joke posts with Gennett hitting 50+ HRs...), most people got what they expected or maybe more: - We won 73 games, Average prediction was 70.5. 14 below, one exactly on, and 7 above 73 wins. - Ryan Braun had quite a bit of discussion but most of the predictions were on health rather than ability. But few thought he would be at 900+ OPS on the year. - Santana was another of varying expectations. He landed more in the middle (792 OPS) of the predictions (700-900 OPS). Lots of MVP votes and HR leader, too. But of course his injuries nullified any chance of that. Domingo as MVP was probably an example of a homer prediction. But we have digressed from Jett Bandy... Seems like a no-lose situation for the Brewers. Jett sounds a lot like a young Maldonado. Maldy doesn't do anything for us this year anyway as I'd rather see what we have in our other catchers. So we just gained our #2 defensive catcher of the future by trading the current #2 defensive catcher and a BP arm that wasn't going to make it here.
  25. Unfortunately, the numbers are pretty much the same vs LH or RHB. milb.com has the numbers, but doesn't summarize his MILB career. Here is last year's sample. I looked back a couple years and the results are about the same (showing only a slight improvement vs LHB in the previous couple years at AAA): [pre]Stats: ERA IP BAA WHIP vs Left 3.47 23.1 .264 1.37 vs Right 3.41 63.1 .260 1.41[/pre]
