  1. Keon had only one hit in the loss, but at least it was a home run. Minor-league club cancels promotion insulting player's defense Oh, and no errors, either... So, I'm assuming his mistakes have happened in LF and CF both? It might be understandable for a some short term mistakes when moving from CF to LF (ball looks different coming off the bat), but I would expect a talented defender not to be tripped up by that. Seems contrary to the defense reports we read after the trade. He was supposed to be a talented defender (not quite Carlos Gomez, but still good) in CF. In case you missed it in the game story Nate Orf (2-3,BB) had the only multi hit game for Biloxi tonight. Prospect wise Tyrone Taylor is sporting a .263 AVE, Brett Phillips .276, Jacob Nottingham .137, and Chris McFarland .239. And pitcher Javier Salas went 1 for 2 and is hitting .200.
  2. I think you guys are being a little too literal on "the future". Will he be with the Brewers in 5 years? Probably not. But does that mean they will trade him immediately? Probably not. If Scooter can hang onto what he is improving this year, I don't see a reason to dump him simply because he is going into arby. Given a couple more years of improvements, he might be most valuable to trade later than sooner. He might be a guy that bridges the gap until Diaz makes it up. Or he might revert and Rivera takes 2B.
  3. Ok, thanks. Glad to hear it wasn't something major.
  4. Here's your answer -- it was disciplinary. I'm twitter blocked... What was the discipline for?
  5. The other day, I clicked on the boxscore and wanted to look into some player's MiLB page. So I clicked on the Sounds team page link and was in the roster page before I realized my error...
  6. Early season, but Max McDowell is batting 303/368/364/732 and throwing out 50% of steal attempts (9 for 18). Given our lack of catching depth last year, he was a draft pick I noted, but lost interest after a while. But might be piquing my interest again. This year's Carlos Leal?
  7. if the rule 5 player has already cleared waivers (removed from the 40-man) and is traded by the original team to any other team, it's a trade of a minor league player on a minor league contract. you can't option a player that's not on a 40-man roster. you can assign him to a specific minor league club, but it's not an optional assignment. While true, Jones hasn't been waived. He is on the MLB DL list.
  8. Maybe this is a case of people hearing what they want to hear?!? I'm guessing someone is breathing heavy, but its not on the trailer... If it took TLB 5x through the trailer to hear it, I'm guessing he was pretty worked up by then.
  9. Nigel is probably testing the water temps, but I can't imagine there is going to be much interest. He shot poorly this season, especially in the tournament. He has little to lose in returning and a lot to gain.
  10. My understanding is that it's a coin flip for who gets the higher pick if no one moves up. However the # of lottery balls will be split among those who are tied for the chance to move up. So if 3 teams are tied, 8,9,10... and normally their odds are 10%, 8% and 6% (for example) they would all end up with an 8% chance to move up. Also, playing guys 40 minutes and beating the 76ers in overtime basically cost the Bucks 10% higher chance at getting a top 3 pick. Sigh. The balls didn't divide into three equally, so the Bucks got one ball fewerthan the other two teams. Bucks got 18, Kings and Nuggets got 19 each.
  11. Niewenhuis is just "a guy". Reed isn't a can't miss prospect, but he has a chance to be an everyday MLB player. Pretty much our own version of Liriano or Flores. His power is starting to develop and you can see his ISO grow the last couple years: 2012 ®: .056 2013(A): .114 2014 (A+): .123 2015 (AA): .144 / (AAA): .135 And normally, I wouldn't want Reed in CF regularly, but if Flores or Liriano can do it, Reed should be able to also.
  12. I saw "Morgan" in the link and knew well enough to not bother.
  13. Flexibility is fine. But moving a 260lb guy from a position of need (1B) to a position of strength (OF) in the organization is odd also. Not to mention 260lb OFers rarely stick...
  14. No capes! http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/family-unfriendly-death_incredibles1_9384.png
  15. There is a science behind colors and aggression (i.e. wearing a red power tie to an interview). Powder blue and yellow go together fine. They just look... weak and passive.
  16. Fixed. Reed doesn't need to sit for Niewenhuis...
  17. Love to see Denson swinging a hot bat, but his move off of 1B is still puzzling to me. So far, he has played one game in the OF and the rest at DH. Was playing 1B defense difficult for him? Any opinions from the guys that saw him in person?
  18. Wow, that was a blast from the past. I had to look him up. 2013 18th round draft pick. He is a 23 yo lefty reliever.
  19. Some interesting comments on Brandon Woodruff in the 4/17 Link Report: I'll continue to push the Woodruff bandwagon...going back to last season, his last 8 starts: 1.16 ERA .96 WHIP 9.06 K/9 1.92 BB/9.
  20. 2015 numbers: Broxton: 273/357/438/795 - two-thirds of the time at AAA and one-third at AA (302/365/464/828 at AA alone). Taylor: 260/312/337/649 - all at AA Reed: 269/371/410/781 - three-fourths at AA and one-fourth at AAA (278/379/422/801 at AA alone) I'm not worried about starting Taylor's clock. He isn't a key piece going forward. And I'd welcome the chance to see what he could do if I thought he actually earned it. Or had some hope of doing something at the MLB level. But he hasn't been able to do anything at the AA level. And others that did better at AA and AAA are struggling at MLB level. Taylor needs to focus on doing something sustainable at AA level this year first. Age is on his side, but he needs to produce or he might not be on the 40-man next year.
  21. Thanks for the ideas guys. I like hearing the reasons as it gives a bit of a glimpse of possibilities.
  22. Ouch. Salas and Bradley to be horrible tonight. I'm surprised Bradley remains with the team
  23. Well, technically two strike outs could've reached base on a wild pitch....
