  1. I didn't read far enough. Why on Earth would the D-backs even consider giving up Bauer, Skaggs and Bradley PLUS Upton(two of the pitchers)? Now you didn't read WELL enough. It was ONE of (Bauer, Skaggs and Bradley) plus Upton OR two of the three (Bauer, Skaggs and Bradley). Not all 4 players.
  2. Dalembert, Gooden, Pryz, Sanders, Ilyasova, Luc Richard, Udoh, Henson.... that's 8. Your backup C is going to be highly dependent on who they are playing. Pryz is the only backup C that gives you a chance against Howard, Bynum or some of the other big Cs. Ilyasova, Luc, and Henson are probably not choices at C for any reason. Gooden, Udoh and Sanders could play backup C against smaller teams (or when the bigger C is out). Still, that is quite a few players. Henson, Udoh and Sanders are all very similar players.
  3. Eric Arnett threw four perfect innings in relief of Miller and struck out four, for the rare four-inning save. Hmmm... Getting success as a reliever, so are they pushing him into a piggyback role as a precursor to a starting position next year? Probably not, but they keep putting him out in multiple inning appearances.
  4. Limit him next year too. If he pitches 35 more innings he will be around 170 for the year. That should put him in position to pitch any normal amount for a SP (200-210).
  5. If you're buying a new $700,000 Bentley and hear a rattle, you'll pass on the car. If you are going to pay $700k for a car, you have them fix the rattle. But then again, most English cars have rattles...
  6. I ignore the ribbing as I consider the source. Ah, its a sign of respect. People know the guys you like that are out of the mainstream prospect lists. No one ever gave me a hard time for locking onto Komotsu...
  7. I could also see Farris going as a utility guy to see how he does. Halton perhaps,... I was beginning to wonder if JB hacked your account.... but I have listed lots of others ahead of him But then I realized he hadn't. (Good think JB takes all the Halton/Farris ribbing well... I hope)
  8. But I do tip my hat to the work put into the write-ups! Now if only you were a Packer fan...
  9. The expectations for Davis on here are insane - "replacing Corey Hart's offense" and "hitting 20-30 HRs annually". Those are the offensive numbers that would make him a top 50 or top 25 prospect given how close he is the majors. Hell, those are the power potential numbers that I've seen on Wil Myers (2nd or 3rd on prospect lists overall). Not to be a jerk, but get real. We danced this dance last year, so I was going to sit it out this year, but I guess I love an argument. I don't think Hart potential is too far off. Hart was also scouted as having a long swing also (Jeromy Burnitz also and he was 6'0). I don't follow the MiLB of other teams at all, but I'd be surprised if a max of a .825 OPS LFer would make a Top 50 let alone a Top 25. As you pointed out, there are problems with going on pure stats. But there are also problems with completely dismissing a guy because of a flaw based on scouting also. Last year, we were arguing about Martin Maldonado for that same reason (Now, he isn't an all-star lock based on his little MLB time this year, but he has shown enough to belong in the bigs). Fiers is another good example. Ben Hendricksen would be the flip side. My guess is that you will see most people put Khris around 12-15 in our User P50, which seems fair to me. He has a good chance to bust, but also a decent chance to be above average also. As for "moving Braun", its not going to be a case of being so good that he will beat out Braun for LF. But I don't see a problem with the Brewers (probably after Khris proves himself first) moving Braun to put their best two OF options on the field. Probably a better chance that Khris gets added in a trade, however. Its just not all that cut-n-dried to be so dismissive.
  10. Then again, this is your P50 [smile]. No, its a good point. A point, I almost made, but didn't have time to lookup the "threshold" we were using... I hope to never see either one in the minors again! And also, I wouldn't mind seeing you chime in Mass. It doesn't have to be "your P50". I understand why you don't want explanations in the actual post but I wish people would add their explanations elsewhere. I personally enjoy opinions on why they chose who they chose. Yes, please, by all means discuss/explain in this thread! I just ask for your "vote post" to be without comments. I have no problem sorting through 200 posts to pull out the 20 votes! I never explain that part well.
  11. Ok, I know everyone has been anxious to take a crack at this after the draft and trades. And ramssuperbowl1999 has gotten things rolling, so lets see where Kh(rush)ris Davis ends up! 1) Please list your players 1 to X (stop at 50 or 30 or 1 if you like) with no commentary in your list (comment in another post please). I plan on cut-n-paste into Excel to do this, so less work is appreciated! 2) Only submit one list. If you update please update your original list. 3) Please list one player per line. 4) Submissions will close in two weeks-ish. So around August 22nd or so. Results will be pretty simple. First place vote gets 50 points, 2nd, 49, etc... Last user P50 is here
  12. Pittsburgh has had a very good run of success over the last 10 years, more so than the Packers, so I was giving credit where credit is due. This is true. And I figured you were referring to the Pack since TT always fields one of the younger teams in the NFL. But as a proud owner, I had to chip it in. Plus, I figured FatterThanJoey might pop back in with an open Steeler reference like that...
  13. ...that's why the Steelers Packers keep making appearances in the Super Bowl and have consistent success? Fixed!
  14. Scouting reports when he was drafted was that his arm was pretty weak (surgery for a bad arm problem if I remember). I haven't heard anything that would say any different. Not sure why people have such a problem with moving Braun over to RF. Davis can be the LFer.
  15. I'm guessing the AA rotation is a little full at the moment... but great to have Bucci back in!
  16. 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R/ER, 3 BB, 6 K, WP, 6:6 GO:AO, 94 TP ... for those like me that would be too lazy to want to click on the Huntsville link if they didn't have to! And I appreciate you looking out for me!
  17. Gennett just keeps hitting his way up the organizational chain. Always been a fan of mine, but he just keeps getting the most out of his abilities. Cool! How does he know you?
  18. You know, that a grown man would go to the little mermaid for inspiration... *waves hand slowly* "These aren't the mermaids you are looking for"
  19. He would give people something to cheer about...
  20. Don't forget "when you need to fill out that 15-team no-trade list"! K-Rod's agent forgot...
  21. This system makes them easier to spot because we have access to more information. Big brother doesn't work! I'm half of the posters on this board! On a serious note, BF.net was the first forum I ever joined. Then decided to join a couple others for other topics... Wow... lets just say, I stick to here and LL.net.
  22. Wait, there are professional sports teams in the Midwest? I thought it was just all farmland until you hit Vegas. We are the imaginary friends of the MLB world. We only exist when you need an excuse or trading partner.
  23. Programs! Git yer programs here! Can't tell the players from the fans without a program!
