  1. Actually posting here is a privilege, not a right. I could tell you were trying to be over the top, but it just went too far. If you follow Hobbesian philosophy, make sure you take Bill Watterson's approach and balance Hobbes with Calvin. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. You would resign him? Actually, I hope we don't have to. My hope is we add higher quality at the top of our bullpen and remove lower quality (high cost) at the end of the bullpen. Torres Riske McClung Carlos V Stetter/Shouse - not that we should only keep on lefty, but we normally only seem to... Dillard But if something were to happen (trade) were we needed someone at the bottom half of the BP and we could afford it, I would resign him. But knowing typical Brewer economics, we most likely won't I still fervently hope he dies of syphilis. Completely uncalled for.
  3. Don't the Brewers have the option of adding one person due to the fact that Kapler was injured after the Aug 31st deadline?
  4. Looks like he just fouled the ball off to the third base side and he is just finishing his swing.
  5. Must have been coincidence that this happened after I sent Prince a box of Omaha steaks two weeks ago. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. My mistake, I thought we were on the hook for a similar contract even if we cut Estrada.Even so, his $3.2million didn't keep us from going out and adding other salaries we needed (CC) and its only for one year. Every team need some so-so guys to fill out the roster. Our problem is that he is #2 or 3 in the bullpen and not #5 or 6.
  7. I remember last year when everyone was looking for a 3B and suddenly we signed a CF and moved Hall. This year could be similar. No, I don't think Braun will be moved to 3B, but looking at all of our weak(er)spots (3B, P, 2B, CF), what happens at one might effect another. Do we sign a free agent P or trade? Does Weeks get traded (or moved to CF)? Here is my take (kinda-sorta in order of probability IMO): 1) Cheap option 1 - Platoon Lamb/3TO/Dillon - Dillon is the bigger Q, but would be used less, since there are less lefties. Hall could replace Dillon, but I think he will be trade bait in the offseason. I don't think he would accept starting only against lefties. 2) Cheap option 2 - Gamel: Can someone compare Braun's D at 3B to Gamel? Doesn't seem like anyone thinks they both stick at 3B, but is Gamel better? 3) Free Agent: Unless its a low salary, I doubt this will happen, since we could be spending $$ at P and CF. 4) Cheap option 3 - JJ/Escobar at SS/3B or 3B/SS. Don't think this will happen. 5) Trade option: Trade JJ/Escobar for a 3B - Could we get a better stick at 3B than JJ's stick just because JJ has good D at SS? 6) Trade Option 2: Trade Fielder. I'm not advocating this, just listing it. Gamel would NEED to start then, since we are short on LH bats anyway.
  8. And while I cringe everytime he heads out there, concidering that we unloaded Estrada and his salary in the Mota trade... I would say its been a postive trade. Subtraction of a below average catcher and addition of a slightly below average reliever.
  9. If the Brewers are the worst team and the get swept in the first round, the Cubs would have to play a well rested NLCS opponent.
  10. Although, if his wife covers Seattle, he may be inclined to head to their system instead. If he does resign with Milwaukee (which I hope he will), it would be nice to see him in AAA or A+, just for the change in scenery. Sounds like it was going south with the fans in Huntsville.
  11. Hey, guys. I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into the P50. I was wondering if we could add a column to describe how the brewers aquired that player. The top 10-15 are normally pretty easy to remember, but for some of the others, I think it would be nice to see. Just an idea.
  12. How do you tell FSN they can't broadcast a sell-out ballgame? Perhaps for non sell-outs, but all of these games are considered sellouts. Frankly, for the last two games Brewer fans have had little to cheer about, so it would be logical you hear the Cub's fans more.
  13. Good think Matt Wise isn't in the bullpen... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Steak was served Well Done! Bring on the (what kind of dessert is he?) Sheet cake?
  14. Actually wasn't this the plan from the start when they called Branyon up? 1) Have each push the other. Competition is good. 2) Ride the hot bat. Branyon was hot at first, Billy is heating up now (Although he is still pulling outside pitches, sometimes successfully). The sum of the parts give a better third baseman than either alone. Winning teams don't baby egos.
  15. Ok, I'm done lurking. Been here for several years without posting (ok, I forgot my password for a while, but...) Thought I would add my $0.02. I have zero knowledge of the inner workings, but like any other workplace the line has to blur between credit/responsibilty of any individual. JZ can't take all of the draft credit/blame, cause there is a whole team of scouts behind him. DM can't either. Personally I would be surprized if JZ didn't have some input into personel issues (like the trade) and I would be surprised if DM didn't have input into the draft. CC came over because the cogs of the wheel were working, not because of any one cog. I'm very pleased with JZ's work, pleased with DM's work, ok with NY's work, but since we are moving in the right direction, I say don't rock the boat.
