  1. Center seems like the last place to go for in FA. Not really the place where I want to spend the money though Dalman seems like a top guy. I'd just prefer to spend the money at CB, DL, or WR.
  2. Yes, that is how I was reading the article. His weight was under his regular weight from mid-season, so there will be some natural bounce back. He gained 25 pounds total, but didn't measure the amount of muscle. Then some click-happy journalist turns it into an unbelievable story. If he just said that he gained 25 pounds from last year by eating his mom's Italian food, then we would all have a different image of what that weight looked like.
  3. The problem with the 20-50 range being very flat is few people are motivated to move up. The best chance would be some team going after a QB (Ward, Sanders) in the late first round. Depending on how Wohler does in testing (i.e. not incredibly slow), I'll happily take him in the 7th round. He just strikes me as a great football player that is more than the "sum of the parts" type. Maybe not the best individual or athletic safety, but one that makes everyone around him better.
  4. As I read more and more about Higgins, I think he should be our #1 target. And I don't know why he wouldn't be realistic? I doubt Cincinnati tags him to be their #2 WR. Perhaps he loves it there and signs a decent contract? But other than staying, I think the Packers have to be as interesting any anyone else - young ascending QB, cap room to meet any offer, clear need for a #1 with a room full of young WRs. I read people (sports articles) say dumb things like, "we need a speed WR and he won't take the top off the defense". I saw one article suggest we resign MVS instead (really???). Higgins will be a good outside blocker, a great chain mover (basically Doubs role right now). Let Reed and Watson take the top off the defense... I'd prefer Love focus a bit more on keeping drives alive and less on gunning the ball downfield.
  5. I would say the odds of any one of those activities occurring is fairly low (even with by Blue Brewer Goggles on), but for fun, I'll list them in order of highest to lowest probability (IMO of course): 1) Yeli being top 3 MVP - He's done it before. He showed us last year that he is still capable, but injuries continue getting in the way. It has been years since he was fully healthy, but all it takes is one healthy season... 2) Sal hitting 300 with 12+HRs: He has the type of bat to hit 300 and did so in the minors and college ball. Hitting 12 HRs might be the bigger stretch for him, but not impossible (he hit 11 in 2022 at AAA,AA,A+) 3) Chourio being top 3 MVP - Oh, I'm confident he WILL be there someday... and the second half of 2024 makes this certainly within reach... I just suspect he will regress a little bit (maybe me tempering my expectations?). 4) Freddy (or other starter) being top 5 CY - We have a lot of nice SPs, but no one dominant one. In 2021, he peaked at 147 ERA+ (2.81 ERA) and received zero votes for CY...granted being behind Burnes (1st) and Woodruff (4th) didn't help. The other 5 years (2020-2024) he was a remarkably consistent 112-115 ERA+. Woodruff is the most likely SP to be able to do this... but I doubt he will get the innings to really compete for it. Myers could be a dark horse candidate simply because after breaking out last year, he might have a chance to step up again. 5) Contreras being top 3 MVP - He certainly has the stick to get hot over stretches...I just don't think it is enough for a full season MVP. A playoff series...certainly. 6) Brice hitting 300 with 12+HRs: Brice has never had a 300 season in the minors and doesn't really show that as a skillset possibility either. He did hit 13 HRs in Nashville one year, but has never reached double digits on any other year. But I'd say he'll reach 12 HRs before hitting 300.
  6. I'll take the "under" on that for this year. His career OPS for 2 outs and RISP is .679. Many players like Bauers have come in and out of the Brewer's lineup. Jake gets a bit more grief simply because he kept getting put out there when the results (especially the second half of the year) were really poor. The key to mining fringe players is to move on from them when it is clear they are AAAA players. We found Myers, Koenig, and Hudson in that same bin last year while missing on Bauers. Time to move on to mine the next group. Looks like Collins, Hinklen, and Wolfram are in that group for now. Might be others at the end of ST.
  7. So your saying that Sal's listing of 6'2" isn't legit? Spaghetti and Meatballs will make you grow taller!
  8. Glenn Braggs was the one and only player I've ever had sign a baseball card (or anything for that matter). He was a very nice guy about it, too. And it was my first BB game in person. Good memories.
  9. Of course it is. But as I pointed out, he is very young. Even after TJ, he will come back to A+ ball as a 20-year-old.
  10. With Nixon and Valentine at outside CB, they aren't in a terrible position even without Alexander. Add in a FA and a 2nd round CB and move on.
  11. Very unfortunate for him, but he is still very young, and TJ surgery has become very pedestrian as far as injuries go.
  12. An unfortunately, big arms don't necessarily correlate to being a good hitter...
  13. Not debating that our WR hands were poor, but this is why statistics can be deceiving... The post says to cut his drops in half (to 17) to show he'd be up with Mahomes. But Mahomes' WRs had 27 drops, so not exactly an apt comparison. Though seeing the Eagles at 7 drops and the Lions at 12 drops is impressive...
  14. Hopefully not the Prince Fielder diet...
  15. This offseason was a clear indication that we are banking on our youth. Especially with losing Adames and not replacing him... nor having an obvious replacement. Our wins will come with improvement from within... or we will not be as good this year. Depth on SP is concerning due to the injury prone mix we have. DL Hall lasted 3 hours into ST? 😞 I'll guess that one of our starting 3B/SS/2B at the end of the year isn't on our roster or system today. I just assumed they would grab someone right before ST.
  16. Please focus your complaints on the minimal offseason the Brewer's had and stop the name calling.
  17. In general, I do think the Z-Smith player profile is one that would be nice to replicate. Someone that can rush inside and outside. On obvious passing downs, he can replace a DT and put a dedicated pass rusher (i.e. the too light against the run, lightning quick) on the outside. When we had Z-Smith, he was a good player himself, but also elevated others because you could move around and confuse the OL. His versatility was great... too bad he wasn't a great teammate...
  18. I'll start off the 2025 NFL discussion with... What will Aaron Rodgers do now? Retire? Go to the Vikings? What decision will he make after his annual darkness retreat?
  19. But by comparison to players taken around them, there is a clear athleticism over production profile. Gutey certainly shoots for upside in his first-round picks. This the main reason I'm hoping for a DL by trade or FA... because we can't seem to find a difference maker ourselves. And typically, a DL at #23 isn't going to be a difference maker on day 1. Per Brugler's top 100 NFL draft picks (yes, it is early and yes it will change), there seem to be mainly OTs, DLs, and WRs in the 20 range. Most of the CBs are back in the second round (late 30s-50). Might this be the year we go WR with #1? Or more Gute-esque... trade back?
  20. Here is an article where the author used a Browns writer to "agree" to the trade (still all speculation of course, but at least trying to balance it: What a Myles Garrett trade could look like for the Packers - Acme Packing Company Came down to: 2025 2nd round pick 2026 1st round pick Christian Watson Shawn Lloyd Malik Willis I'd do that in a heartbeat.
  21. Yes, I was at MSOE from '92-96 and have seen most of these then. A few Admirals' games too.
  22. I'm not going to try and speculate on the cost, but you pick the price you can pay and see what you can do. Maybe a swap with picks and Jaire might help? But you at least have to try (especially in the wake of the Luca trade 😏).
  23. How is Dirk Nowitzki going to explain this to his kid???
  24. The $16M option is for 2026-27. He is in the 4th year of his rookie contract this year and making $2.5M ($4.4 salary cap hit). Yes, I saw this and thought "target acquired". Our number one issue is our pass rush. I looked at the FAs and this is a poor year. Perhaps a cheap deal for Mack might help the other guys move the needle, but not much here for a big FA deal. Maybe the team has their eyes on a younger guy that hasn't broken out yet (i.e. like we did for Z and P Smiths)? But I don't want to see another 1st round pick used on DL. I don't trust our evaluation team in this one area. Trading for someone like Garrett or Crosby (another good player/terrible team combo) might be the best way to go. Big bang in FA might be easiest at the WR position. Higgins would look AWFULLY good in G&G this year. Frankly, even Davante on a short deal might be a benefit. Then your draft capitol can go to OL and CB. If you hit a trade for a DL, FA WR, and draft CB and a starting G/C, I think you have a successful offseason.
  25. Yes, I did this on my phone and didn't realize the description wasn't part of the graphic. Sorry about the confusion. Edited the OP now.
