RIght. Using the first-round pick to trade away Pat, Lopez, or Bobby as a means to shed salary. Pat is probably just a dump. You might get something "youngish" back in return.
But more importantly, you allow yourself to sign a FA that will more likely contribute than the #23 or #33 pick. Yes, we need to get younger, but the end of the NBA must be the most crap-shootingest of all crap-shoot pro sports drafts. Yes, you can get good players but there are such a high percentage that completely flop...
I think we have a better luck attracting young players with a few years of experience that can contribute.
