What operating system would it be running? If you're running 32-bit Vista (which is the standard), you'd be maxed out at a little less than 4GB. 64-bit Vista goes up to 16GB, but that really seems like overkill.

Even their Packer coverage is slipping. And you're right, it's not just the sports section. The news section carries a ridiculous bias in their reporting. It would be nice if they chose not to editorialize outside of the editorial sections. Clearly, Witrado is referring to some unknown future occurrence where Hardy returns to the Brewers a la Cirillo to take over for an aging Escobar.

It's probably a matter of the source material than anything. I've seen slight pixelation on CBS and NBC on my native 1080i TV as well as my 720p. I'd just set your set to display it's native resolution.

mtrebs --- CBS & NBC run 1080i. ABC & Fox run 720p. I have both a 1080i TV and a 720p TV. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the two. It's more a matter of the source material than anything. And for what it's worth, I haven't noticed any sort of lag on the 1080i set that I use for gaming. Do they still make 1080i sets, or has it all progressed to 1080p?

Yeah this is crazy. I read from the J-S that Milwaukee is getting pounded with lake-effect snow, but I look outside and my streets are bare. It's great to be in Brown Deer right now. Skies are probably mostly sunny in northern Milwaukee County. True. -
I scored tickets to see Wilco at the Pabst Theater after being shut out of the pre-sale. The 2 shows sold out in 20 minutes. Those are two things that are definitely NOT bugging me.

I spent a summer with my grandparents when I was 10. At lunch time, we would do the cryptoquip and listen to Paul Harvey and "The Rest of the Story...". What a wonderful voice. I agree, it's hard to believe he was only 90.

You are correct regarding the location of the "About Firefox" pop-up. It is in the FF Help menu for Windows. Unfortunately, I time-out trying to log in to Gmail with the updated user agent, so I have to go back to HTML view. I guess Google doesn't like when I try to check their mail client with their compromised web browser. I can confirm that the posting editor works as it should though. Thanks for your help, casey, but it looks like there's no fighting Google.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. Modded the shortcut on the desktop but left the one in the taskbar as is. I like to see my ninjas on Gmail.

The only downside is it makes Gmail think I'm running IE6. Gone is my custom ninja background. Is there a happy medium here? EDIT: not a huge deal as it only affects my surfing from work...

So Pioneer is going to stop making plasmas and that's suppose to be the death-knell of that technology? That's like Ferrari deciding to stop making cars. People are still going to buy a high end sports car either way if they really want to. The author is trying to hype up this LCD vs. Plasma "war" as if they're two competing technologies competing for the exact same marketplace (*cough* Blu Ray vs HD-DVD *cough*). That's may be true on the macro level, but not really to the informed consumer who knows what they're looking for in a television. Both formats have their advantages (Plasma: higher contrast ratio, no lag, deeper colors, wider viewing angle. LCD: no gloss, no burn-in) and disadvantages (Plasma: potential for burn-in/image retention, higher power consumption. LCD: motion-blur, limited viewing angle, not able to create a true black, shorter half-life of brightness). Neither one is going to kill off the other, that will be left to the next generation of technology.

It really depends on where you're viewing the television from. If you're 1.5 times the diagonal measurement away from the screen when you're watching tv (so 37" ~> 4' away, 50" ~> 6' away etc.), the average person is probably not going to notice a difference. http://reviews.cnet.com/720p-vs-1080p-hdtv/

I think you mean Plasma screens are more reflective. They're generally more of a glossy finish while typical LCDs are more of a matte. To save money, go with a 720p/1080i set over a 1080P. The difference in upgrading to 1080P is negligible but the price is not. I have a 720p 50" Panasonic Plasma. MJL is right in that burn-in has been reduced, but it still can be a problem for hardcore negligence. The set is most susceptible to burn-in within the first 200 hours of use. If you use common sense and don't have a stationary DVD menu on the screen for hours at a time while leaving it at it's retina-damaging in-store settings, you shouldn't have an issue. Sets nowadays take extra measures to correct and prevent any problems with burn-in or image-retention that may arise. I've noticed even the slightest image-retention only once in the year+ I've owned my television. It was actually just a days weeks ago, and it went away within a few minutes of normal watching. Also, lifespan of a set made nowadays with regards to the pixels is a non-issue. We'll be on a totally different technological plane (yay holograms!) before plasmas made today reach their half-life of brightness.

Any updates or amendments to these reviews one year later? We have phone service through TW at the insistence of my wife due to semi-spotty cellphone reception in the basement of our house. I'm loosely considering switching to Skype as essentially a main "home" phone replacement. Are there any caveats to going that direction outside of the standard "if your internet goes down, so does your phone" deal (which is the same for TW, fwiw)? I realize there's no 911 feature, but I'm comfortable with using a cellphone for that if need be. Also, I understand how the service works and how to utilize the service, but should I have any concerns about the reliability of the call/ease of use (more a concern I have for my wife)/sound quality of the call?

Do just those who bought in '09 not have to pay it back, or does this change the language of the initial offering for those who bought in '08? And yes, I post here exclusively for the tax advice.
