  1. Hey Nerds! I replaced my cracked and malfunctioning laptop screen. Just bought the laptop about a year ago and foolishly stepped on it in the middle of the night while getting up to tend to a screaming 2-year-old (so, double suck...). I pondered just getting a new one, but found out replacement of the screens a.) isn't all that expensive ($60) and b.) isn't all too hard. Feeling real good about this right now.
  2. Undoubtedly. Haven't seen him around here recently. Miss him. He always had good stuff to say.
  3. Probably just you, Rapunzel...

  5. The return of Greg Daniels is the biggest news here to me. The show's downfall wasn't due to the absence of Steve Carrell, it was Greg's (and Mike Schur's) departure to Parks & Rec. This is the one thing that will get me to catch up on the last season and a half and possibly watch it all end.
  6. Antonio Mendoza would like an enchilada!
  7. So gone are the days of getting a comp pick for the Brian Shouses of the world? Okay.
  8. yeah, his math wasn't adding up.My math adds up just fine. Budgets are yearly, and Hamels' contract is an extra year at $1M more. I think the point that $24M is "NOT something the Brewers could afford" is silly when they're offering $23M. Whether they should or not is a different matter, but certainly they could.
  9. For the few of you who still think the Brewers can afford Greinke, Hamels signed with philly for 6yrs $144M ($24M per). That is NOT something the Brewers could afford doing. Yet they offered him 5yrs/$115M? That's a $1M/yr difference.
  10. Klarbrunn? LaCroix? Zima?
  11. Yawn... Jim Caple's just one of many ESPN-branded corporate trollists pandering to the mantra of incite over insight. He's not the first (Stephen A Smith?), nor the worst (Skip Bayless?), and unfortunately won't be the last. I apparently am among the in-town minority who doesn't much care for Miller Park. I get the benefit of the roof and it's guarantee of a scheduled game going on as scheduled (although I was witness to a power-induced cancellation back in 2003), but it's just so damn sterile. Even when the roof is open, it still feels like the game's being played inside. It's a step above County Stadium for sure just in sheer amenities, but damn if I wasn't happier to be at the ballpark in 1995, personal age and baseball execution notwithstanding.
  12. Ditto. Dan Harmon is the soul of community. I'd almost rather see it canceled.
  13. The show only received a 13 episode order (as was the case with virtually everything else that aired on NBC thursdays) NBC appears to be hedging its bets on a lot of shows. The ones beginning in the fall will get a chance to be picked up for a full run. On a related note, Parks and Rec received a renewal for a full set of episodes, so there will be no worries there.
  14. If the Brewers were smart, they'd market outside the Milwaukee area, and I mean more than one hour out. Personally I have no problem with it, but kowtowing to fans 1+ hours away from Milwaukee at the expense of locals could be construed as a slap in the face to the residents of Milwaukee metro. They are the ones who've been paying the bulk-share of public expense to build the stadium that without which there would be no guarantee that these out-of-towners would be able to see a game without fear of cancellation due to inclement weather. I've been on both sides of the fence so I don't care either way, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
  15. This just in from Perd Hapley... Parks and Rec was renewed for a full 22-episode 5th season by NBC. That is the news and the news is great.
  16. Paul's Boutique is just a landmark album period, no need to pigeonhole it into rap. To me, it approaches the highest levels for both music (is there any way the Dust Brothers could assemble even half those samples in this day and age? sadly, no.) and lyrics (the fact that they manage to reference both 'Love Connection' and Japanese baseball mere seconds apart is absolutely amazing). Sadly, listening to it from here on out will never be the same.
  17. What a bummer. Time to put on some Paul's Boutique:
  18. I'm feeling old, because I remember Billyhallfan the high school student on these boards. I have nothing to add to this topic other than yeah, me too.
  19. So, how feasible is it for this guy to go from absolutely no running to a half marathon in 5 months? I'm not terribly out of shape, but it's been a lazy month and a half for me and I've never been much of a fan running itself. I could probably (maybe) hoof out 2 miles before dropping in the shape I'm in at the moment. But this does intrigue me.
  20. Thanks for the tip MJL! I'm about 8 blocks from an American TV, but 8 miles from the shop in Stally... They're not listed on Pioneer's website as an authorized service center, but I was able to confirm that they are.
  21. That sucks. I've had an Onkyo 5.1 receiver for over 7 years now that works great, although it hasn't necessitated that much use in recent years. Conversely, I bought a Pioneer 5.1 receiver for its HDMI switching capabilities in January and had the power supply blow out just last week during normal use. Gotta take it in to a shop in West Allis for an in-warranty repair.
