  1. Maybe he mistook Manny for a Chorizo? (Read the Onion if you don't get it) Seriously though, it's a lame thing to do but whatever. There was a time when men where men and when a small altercation like this happened between men, other men didn't comment on brutal and fragile people are, etc. You get a group of men together for a long stretch of time and these things happen. The team is frustrated right now. These guys are friends and thats why they're able to act like this and it "isn't a big deal". Get over it and stop acting like men being men is a big deal. He did a stupid thing and has apologized. They'll move on.
  2. It's hard to be angry all things considered. Yeah, I get bothered by a lot of the same things people have posted here...but...they're 12 over, winning on the road and the Wild Card is theirs to lose. This is great stuff. The last 4 years have been pretty good and considering they don't drop to <= .500 (unlikely) they will have 2 winning seasons, a .500 season and a season lost due to injury. I guess this isn't the silver lining thread...but I'm just venting about the vent thread. I agree with most everyone but I'm also happy with where the organization has gone,.
  3. I'm not sure how true that is. A friend of mine was at one of the games last week and asked a lot of Cubs fans how they got their tix and a few said early in the year. The vast majority according to him said they bought them in the last month. I really think people were just selling their tix for a game in July at 10x the face value. Can't blame them.
  4. Fact is, Yost will never look as natural and sexy as Lou in tight baseball uniform. Lou doesn't look silly or anything.
  5. The Brewers have been consistent all year. That's a good thing! They get about 15 wins a month. Because they are playing teams that have weakened themselves more by trades and a move to young talent and the fact they play exceptionally bad teams, I think they can win 17 games and lose about 10. The only series they may lose in against the Dodges, on paper. Especially since CC and Sheets won't be facing them. But the Dodges have problems scoring runs anyways so you never know. A real highlight is how consistent they've been./ Lets hope they can start to "peak" going into the final month.
  6. Ricky had a great July. Yeah, he botched a play in that game. And his defense is forever a work in progress. And he doesn't bunt to get on and a host of other problems. But overall he had a very good July. Just keep him in there. The teams winning.
  7. It's not even worth debating. Everybody and everything has a price. Especially tickets to a baseball game that's televised nationally.
  8. No, what I'm saying here is that in baseball things tend to even out. They got away with a few wins last week and then this week they couldn't buy one. But they've been very consistent every month this year and that's what I've been looking for. They had a chance to have an amazing July and now it's just a very good July. Oh well. You move on. I'm not really sure what is cheap or lame about a wild card berth. And who said they can't win this division? It's Aug 1 and there's a lot of baseball left. Look at the last 2 weeks. The Brewers cut a 5 game lead to even and lost it all in a single week! Anything can happen and this isn't the end of anything. Perspective is so necessary to rationally observe this. Have fin, they're having a great year! A poor run this last few days. Boo hoo. they got served and that's it. They'll come back stronger. They're now 6-4 against the Cubs this season.
  9. They really don't do well when the chips are down and the game gets serious. Have they responded to pressure at all ever? Just looking back on that record last August is terrible. 9-17 in August crushing their post season dreams! Terrible. July was bad too. Ouch. They've had a great July this year. 15-11 isn't too shabby. 16-10 on June. 13-16 in May. 15-12 in April. That's pretty consistent play. So they're certainly more consistant than last year where they were the most volatile team around. We should get to 90 wins this year. Is that enough for the Wild Card?
  10. I sort of feel like my years of baseball viewing and analyzing point to the Brewers being on a frustrating slump for the next couple weeks. But lets stay positive and say things go back to being swell. This thing just got interesting. There's a lot of season left.
  11. Yup. I went to a Cubs/Brewers game and the Crew actually won it and it was great the look on their faces. They looked bored and frustrated and we laughed at them as told them to enjoy their long car rides home. In fact, it was actually more fun when they were there and we won to make fun of them.
  12. The pants analogy is great. I want to get a paid of Durhams! The team has the second best record in th NL on August first. Lets keep things in perspective here. We're all grieving right now and we all know the stages of grief. This stage is anger. But its August 1st right now and this team is in second place. They really screwed the pooch on this one after being invincible hero's last week. 2 months left, I'm OK with it. Yost is what he is. He isn't great but he isn't terrible either. they're doing alright.
  13. You seriously want to "punish" people for who they sell their tix to? Dude, if the Cubs have fans willing to spend silly amounts of money for a ticket how can you stop them? Whose sitting in the stands isn't going to change how the game is played. The Brewers didn't lose these games because there were Cubs fans in there. Thats a silly notion. If I had NLCS tix that cost me $100.00 and a Cubs fan offered me $1000.00 per tix, how do you not sell them? Packers and Badger fans do this all the time and it annoys the heck out of other fan bases. Just get used to the fact the Brewers have a smaller following and are going to have issues. Heck, my friend who is a Cubs fan went to LA and went to a Cubs game while there and couldn't believe it was about 30-40% Cubs fans there too! People in America love the friggin Cubs. We can't comprehend it but people everywhere love that stupid team. The Cubs have at least 20x more fans than the Brewers. And their fans travel well and they exist in every MLB city and they buy tix.
  14. I agree with bsglorydays. The majority was Brewers fans. And if you noticed in the last couple the fans left by the 7th or 8th innings. A lot of empty seats. But, if the Brewers would actually win these games and make it not fun to see games up there, Cubs fans would stop showing up in droves. It would be the typical 10-20% you see of Brewers fans in Chicago. I always make it a note to go to a game or 2 down there btw. And you should too. You'd be surprised at how many Brewers fans you run into. And when they win it's a blast because...well, that's obvious. But I agree, if the Brewers make it a crap experience for the Cubs fans then they will stop showing up. No one is going to drive up here to see their team lose and lose again.
  15. Yeah I know, I never understood the elitist attitude. Can you really blame people for having other interests than this miserable organization over the last 12 years before the last few? I thought the idea was to have as many fans as possible.
  16. A lot. I have friends with season tix in the upper behind home plate. Decent seats really. Anyways, as a season tix holder it's buy 1 get 1 free up there and they have a $10.00 face so its absicaly $5.00 a pop for them. They sold them on Stubhub for $100.00 a seat. This returned all they spent on season tix. The got free season tix selling these last 4 games.
  17. Well put. We are 6-4 in the series this year. Not great but not terrible either with 6 to go.
  18. Heres the thing though. The Brewers are good right now and have no problem selling their own tickets. But when they aren't good they rely on this series being sold out by Cubs fans. The have a times advertised in Chicago to buy tix to this game,
  19. Don't worry, we're going to always remember it because this will also be the week Favre gets traded to the Bears. The Cubs will have burned Milwaukee to the ground and kidnapped Brett Favre!!
  20. Chicago will trade for Favre. The Cubs have stormed into Milwaukee, burning it down and in the process kidnapping Brett Favre.
  21. We hit with RISP!!! We hit with RISP!!! It's a breakthrough!!!!
  22. Yeah, they aren't welcome here for awhile for sure./
  23. The Brewers have some very good, affordable season ticket packages they take advantage of. For instance, you can buy Terrave Reserved seats for only $10.00 a pop. They are right behind home in the first row and it's a great seat all thing considered. But here's the best part! It's buy 1 get 1 free! So it costs a little over $800.00 for the entire season and full playoff rights for 2 seats! They sell the Cubs games for over $100.00 a piece on stub hub That's $200.00 a game. Times these 4 games it comes out to $800.00 and they made their money back. They put them on stubhub and they presume Cubs fans bought them. They went to Chicago anyways. They've actually turned a profit on the season and have gone to about 90% of the games. They sold some of the Twins ones too for a decent profit. They're going to go to the series in September. I hate what they did but they rationalize it as if a Cubs fan wants to pay $100.00 for a $10.00 seat in July, let them. Hard to blame them. I asked them what if they can get $300.00 a seat in September and they said they would sell 1 game and keep the other 2.
