  1. Oh my they are getting a cart to get Rodriguez off the field. This could be a serious injury for him. Hope for the best. He had been a big contributor in the hot streak the past few weeks, and a very solid back up catcher. Again hope for the best.
  2. Well Shuckers just need a few plays to get back into it and they do. Lara walks, Warren walks, and Rodriguez doubles to right, but comes up hobbling and is in a lot of pain with his left leg calf or hamstring? He's hurt. Tie game but another player hurt running to second tonghit. Can we just have all walks or HR tonight, no more running to second.
  3. Just like yesterday. Beleaguered pitching staff and double header today. Yesterday Melvin Hernandez with a 7 IP complete game win. Tonight, Hardin with 7 IP complete game 2-hitter shutout. Rattlers do very little offensively, but Hardin allows less than very little and it's a 1-0 win. 6 K, 0BB and 91 pitches and was still throwing 93 mph in the 7th. Nice win by the T-Rats. Nashville losing big. And Shuckers trying to get out from an early 3-1 deficit. They need that offense to click for one inning. Let's go Shuckers!!
  4. Very un-Carolina night tonight. Offense only musters 2 hits and only 1 run. Lose 5-1. And they struck out 13 times.
  5. Agree. Something is lacking. He hasn't had that 97 mph and his secondary pitches don't work well - for whatever reason. So he has the potential for stuff is maybe what I meant, since he had shown it, but can't seem to recapture it.
  6. Hardin has 5.2 innings of perfect baseball - retired 17 straight - until a liner just over the IF into left. He was locked in from the 3rd inning on.
  7. I think it was the velocity he hit last year, and he does have good stuff. But you are right - he has not shown command, and may be a reliever longer term if he can repeat that peak velo in short stints. The potential is there, but he has some refining on the pitching side to break through.
  8. Hardin has been really efficient - 44 pitches to get through 4 IP so far. And he hit 95 in the 1st, but mostly 93-94 mph.
  9. So you think 12 in a row and Hardin is going so well. Well the results are awesome, and he is locked in. But 4 of the balls hit for outs were very nice defensive plays by Areinamo, Garcia and Baez (yup a real nice play at second up the middle). He also threw a few pitches way wide. But in the 4th he threw three pitches that he thought were strikes, and his body language shows he didn't believe call and get the batters out with the next pitch. That is nice and impressive.
  10. Wichrowski struggled in the 1st. After the first out, a HR. Then a fly out. And a 4 pitch walk. Another walk, and another walk. Then a single up the middle. Just not locating tonight. He gets out of the inning but it's 3-0 Biscuits. I'm staring at the beginning to watch Hardin's start tonight.
  11. Worked. Lameda singled in the bottom of 5. But B. Johnson allows a hit, then a force out then the runner scores stealing second with errors on the play (I haven't watched but scoring trying to steal second sounds like a lot of little league fielding miscues).
  12. Yeah, that is what I was thinking. 18 year old, low A, not impressive "stuff" but does what you want, throws strikes, gets out, eats innings, and as he matures (and Rodriguez) there is some projection. But absolutely love what Hernandez is doing so far. Still seems more arm action than body in his delivery but I'm sure that's what pitching coaches are for.
  13. Tyler Bryant gets the three outs needed to close out the game, Shuckers win 9-3 Biloxi is now 22-14 after that 1-7 start, so 21 wins out of 28 games is amazing. And Carolina now 25-10, Tyler Renz pitching into the 5th and concedes a run after 2 hits but then a caught stealing (by Corobo) and a ground out it's 4-2 and he gets out of the 5th. That's impressive that most of the ACL starters are going 4+ IP. Whoa - major EDIT: Quero was catching with Corobo DH'ing, and I totally missed that. That's Quero's first time catching I think, so the caught stealing I alluded to was actually Renz/Quero battery, so GREAT to see that (assuming GameDay box score is accurate)
  14. He gets the next 3 outs, and goes 16 pitches and 9 strikes. Way way way better than last week's problem outing. Let's get his confidence back. Meanwhile Adams doubles and gets to 3rd on a WP. ANd Boeve just under it too much, and it is a deep sac fly, so 9-3 lead, and an RBI for Boeve despite no hit.
  15. So Childers almost strikes out the side. All three outs were of the K variety, but apparently with my typing and looking at other scores I totally missed the walk. Still a scoreless 7th for Childers with 3 K, I'll take it! Looks like still 2-1 in Arizona with Renz through 3 IP. And Reyes gives up a double on his first batter. C'mon Anfernny, let's get some outs here.
  16. Well the T-Rats got rained out so that makes the winning percentage go up 😥 This is a trying year for Victor Estevez as this team just isn't playing up to his standards. But heck yeah, Carolina looking to sweep the DH, Nashville with a great late win, and Shuckers looking to start a new winning streak if they can hold on to a late 8-3 lead. Childers is in for the Shuckers and strikes out the first 2 he faces.
  17. Wilken singles. And then Warren deep to right and the Bash Bros - it's now 8-3 Shuckers. Hot dang!! In Carolina it looks like Hodges is struggling and concedes a run on 3 walks then a HBP. There are 2 outs.
  18. Shuckers fail to score with Adams CS after his walk, then Boeve K, and Pratt pop up Merkel on to try to keep it a 6-3 lead. And retires the side 1-2-3. On to top of 7th. And it is Hodges in for Carolina, but despite his hit tonight Bitonti is struggling mightily in low A. IN his last 13 games (since 4/24) coming into tongiht he is hitting .179 with 27 K in 56 AB with only 6 BB and 10 H. Gotta make some contact Eric as he 1-4 with a K tonight.
  19. Looks like Kevin Ereu got his first hit to drive in Luis Corobo in Arizona. Carolina up 10-1 and maybe it's Anfernny Reyes territory for Mudcats to give him a chance to get a couple of clean innings without pressure? Shuckers -Restituyo walks and gets to third on a steal and an error, and almost scores but the throw bounces back to the pitcher midway down the 3rd base line and Adams walks but no it's called a strike?? But he walks on the next pitch nowhere close.
  20. So I was looking and Rivera is through 5 IP with 85 pitches, so I wondered if they would try to have back-to-back CG, but with this long inning and big league, I wonder if they just go to the bullpen for the 6th/7th inning.
  21. And Cornielle goes up 1-2 in the count, but a nice pitch that Isaac lays off then two non-competitive pitches (#93 and#94) and comes out after 4.2 IP. I said it with Alexander - his command needs to improve and he needs to be more efficient. He can get guys out with his stuff even if it's not overpowering, it is still good. But to move up he will have to clean up that command and get more outs quickly. But you can do it Alexander keep at it.
  22. Dang it a couple of possible DP balls - the first one goes off Pratt's chest on the bounce right to Warren who gets the out at first. Then a single. Then the other grounder slow and high to Warren, who gets the lead runner and a good throw by Pratt makes it close but safe, so the run score. Cornielle laboring to finish the 5ht. 6-3 lead now.
