  1. Bryant struck out the second batter and makes him look bad just a defensive swing. Next pitch grounder to Adams and on to bottom of 8. Az Crew get a couple of runs. Single, ground out, single, ground out, single and. Ow walk. It’s a 2-1 lead..
  2. After that Boeve hit it’s been 7 straight retired Shuckers. Clinging to a 2-1 lead. Top I and Bryant may be coming in to relieve Petersen. Az Crew gives up a run (HR off Renz) and scoreless no more. Rangers are a good team by stats. So more of a even match up for the baby Crew.
  3. Rund comes on for the 9th again. He gives up a walk and then a DP and ends the night. t-Rats 5-2 win over South Bend. Very solid start by Hardin. Shuckers have Petersen in for a second inning. And he is through 2 scoreless shuckers 2-1 lead speaking of scoreless. Az Brewers keep Az Rangers off the scoreboard. Renz 2 IP with 3H and 3K.
  4. Line drive up the middle and Boeve has a 2 run single. Shuckers now lead
  5. Rena was the Brewers starter in Arizona. He got through the first without a run - 1H, 1BB and 1K
  6. Mudcats just can’t get a tying run home. Lose 5-4. The FredNats have a lots of 22+ year olds on their low A roster just sayin’ TRats have Rund in and he walks the bases loaded but a huge DP and a run in but only 1 on and 2 outs. 5-2 TRats lead still in the 8th. And he gets the K. On to the 9th. Billxi still trying to get some offense going. C’mon Biloxi
  7. Rally started but no finish to it as Biloxi goes next 3 up and 3 down after the single-walk start. Still down 1-0. Wichrowski out after 4 IP but with 6K. Shears trying to close the door on the inning after giving 3 free passes in a row (one runner picked off), and gets the out. Still 5-1 Melvin Hernandez allowed to finish the 7th inning (his 5th), and team still trails 5-4.
  8. Hardin is out. Pitches 6 innings, 8K, 6 H, 1R, but 0BB. Tanner Shears on to try to help preserve the 5-1 lead. Muddies give up a couple and get one back. Made on all 4PA (2H, 2BB) Shuckers trying to start a rally with Boeve single, Wilken walk. Let’s go Shuckers
  9. Eric Martinez with 3 errors that have led to one run directly and another indirectly (catchers interference). Drop off it seems from Dinges to him. Both those runs under Hernandez’s watch who was less efficient but ok given the defense lapses. Muddies tie it up 3-3. T-Rats are still up. Hardin with 1-run ball through 5 IP with 8 K. hedbert with an RBI and it’s now 5-1 TRats.
  10. I know it's been mentioned before, but compared to opening week, that Mudcat lineup is diluted down, with no Dinges (promotion), Pena (IL stint), Payne, Adamczewski it has much less teeth, and add Bitonti's immense struggles you went from a team that was essentially all high wRC+/OPS guys throughout the lineup, to having Walling, Nadal, Lameda, Rodriguez and Martinez in the 5-9 spots.
  11. Melvin Hernandez doing Melvin things 3 up 3 down on 7 pitches. No K, but I love the efficiency.
  12. SO it was Hostetler to start in Carolina, and relieved by Melvin Hernandez. No Meccage still.
  13. As noted above, he is athletic and what I saw early in the season was great mobility. His catching is fine, and I'm nowhere near skilled enough to comment on framing (although as we all acknowledge that may matter in the future), and his throws were the issue. He seems to have the strength, but the accuracy (footwork as @Spencer Michaelis mentioned). I will watch his A+ games to see if there is improvement. Which is very possible since he didn't catch much last year in college, so that learning curve is steep but can also move quickly.
  14. Catching up. So I wonder what happened to Woodruff. He was hitting 93-95 in the start before his original last rehab start. The very last one was lower velocity, but was either him holding back, or the ankle that set him back. But he was cleared to pitch and it was still pretty low velocity. Hall -encouraging results. Ashby baby steps back again.
  15. OK. I guess the game is called in Wisconsin and it is a final, so T-Rats win. Phew. a very shaky 2-1 night for the affiliates. See you all tomorrow
  16. What a finish. A double by Hearn. Then - Grounder up the middle and Vargas bobbles it, but the runner at 2nd (Hearn) tries to score for some odd reason, and is caught easily as the throw goes to Wood and he chases him up the 3rd base line and tags him out for out #3. End of game. 4-3 win. Welcome to AA Mr. Matthew Wood!
  17. Hey hey hey, Matthew Woods in his first AA, gets the runner at second. Very clutch caught stealing. Now 2 outs and no one on. Let's get this guy Yeager, c'mon only one guy to get out now.
  18. Stolen base (on what should have been strike 2, but was called a ball) and then the next pitch is a base hit to right. And it's a 4-3 game. C'mon Yeager, let's get some outs here.
  19. OK first pitch was a clear strike, called ball 1. And Yeager is not in as much control. He winds up walking the first batter. Never a successful recipe. C'mon Yeager let's go Shuckers!!
  20. It is in fact Yeager (who if he can get the 3 outs here has to feel like he's a step away from AAA right?) Let's see if we can preserve this 2 run lead.
  21. OK. I'll have to be content with just the 1 insurance run as Restituyo flies out to right and strands Spain and Vargas. On to the 9th, and likely Yeager or maybe Childers to try to close it out?
  22. Spain singles to left and Warren scores. It's 4-2 game now. 2 down and Vargas up. Still would be OK with more insurance runs....
  23. OK. Matthew Wood is up with Biloxi and is catching, and Darrien Miller covers 1st base tonight. But Wood and Miller are nearly twins, being born about a week apart (3/2/01 vs 3/10/01), both 5'10" 190ish and both left handed hitter and right handed throwers. Slow inning, runner on 2nd and only 1 out.
  24. Abdiel Mendoza comes in a pitches a 4 up, 3 down (1 hit) inning with 2 K. On to the bottom of 8 clinging to a 3-2 lead. You know what would sound good about now? An insurance run (or runs) by the Shuckers. I mean that would sound really good about now.
  25. Super slow slider at 81mph gets Wilken swinging to end the inning. But right before that, Lara who had singled, runs to steal second and the ump calls likes it strike 3 on Wilken, the catcher throws it to center and Lara to third base. It was only strike #2. But after a short break, that super slow slider gets Brock to end this inning. Still Shuckers up 3-2. On to the 8th.
