  1. Brian Fitzpatrick relieved KC Hunt, and was slightly erratic, but gives up a walk, gets a nice grounder for a double play, and a grounder ends the frame. Nice. Shuckers are back up to bat.
  2. Restituyo bloops it into LF and Miller score. 3-2 Shuckers lead. Top of the lineup up …. But Spain pops out to foul. Lara is up. EDIT: Blake Burke HR for TRats. I did not see it but good to see him get a big fly!
  3. And D. Miller with a seeing eye single - scores Warren. 2-1 Shuckers still trail. And runners at the corners. Lets go shuckers. Ramon Rodriguez! Big RBI single! 2-2 game
  4. Adams gets on via catcher’s interference- wow he is just an OBP machine
  5. Almost Lara broke it up with a double last inning. But the rest of the team -oh boy -4 walks, 4 K And Warren walks again.
  6. Oof. Bitonti is struggling, power hitters take more time, but he and Wilken have been less than stellar. I may try to catch some of the games in the later innings ‘But good to have you back in the nightly minor league game thread again Jospeh.
  7. That is true and it becomes a flawed statistic at times - like in pitching staffs where a couple of pitcher over 25 for example can skew the "average" age, or if a bunch of players on the roster are young, but the main at bats are given to more experienced players. I guess it generally evens itself out, and also changes with promotions (older guy goes up, and a younger guy gets called up), so the ages fluctuate a bit. But if you go with AB or IP weighting of ages, that Mudcat team would be pretty young (see IP by Meccage, Hernandez among others).
  8. Is this a thing now - didn't the Sounds/Shuckers just play the Rays AAA/AA the same time, and the week prior it was the ChiSox AAA/AA teams as well if I recall correctly?
  9. What is most impressive to me - last year he had a total of 5 starts that I counted where he went 5+ IP (granted he was switched to 1-2 IP reliever the last month or so). But this year he has 5 such outings of 5 IP or more in all 5 of his starts.
  10. That is so cool. Post whatever you can from your experience there at some point. I think the Cliff Notes: Biloxi finds offense - a bunch of homers including Luke Adams on his birthday, and had another one this week too I think. The team had a good week overall. Homers, timely hits, and Garret Spain seemed to have sparked the team. Oh yeah this Alexander Cornielle kid - has a fan club of 1, but could get more fans this season 😉 TRats finally win a few games. I only watched a couple, but looks like Blake Burke is heating up. Manny Rodriguez had a nice outing today, the bullpen didn't. But we did have "good" Yerlin Rodriguez yesterday - after an OK outing by Tyson Hardin, but a Hedbert Perez homer broke the tie, and gave them a lead. Some positives there. Oh yeah and Bishop Letson could be a keeper. Mudcats - well in a word, relentless. Even though they lost a few games this week (twin bill on Friday) the offense was on a tear - see Thursday and Saturday 8 runs innings which were both one run games (L on Thu and W on Sat). And you'll be surprised to hear this - players keep exiting the games 🙄 sheesh. At least they have the depth and the talent, they are fun to watch/follow. Josh Adamczewski and Marco Dinges had good weeks, and lead the team in OPS and wRC+. Pitching wise - I will have to look up again, but Bryce Meccage had a good start and Melvin Hernandez had a nice line yesterday pitching zeros in a 11-10 win. Nashville - I did not keep up too much. But the Cliff Notes would go like this - Daz Cameron is really good at AAA hitting and got called up. The offense was clicking with him in the lineup. And Jacob Misiorowski had a really good week at AAA and this week at least looked like the prospect we hope will get called up for good someday. You can dream on his performance this week That sums up most of what I knew - although Tuesday and Wednesday feel about 2 weeks ago for me already.
  11. Oh boy Pratt had a HBP and was pinch hit for his next at bat. Now he did stay in after the HBP, stole a base, and then scored and played an inning or two in the field before being pinch hit for. i may try to watch Sunday when I am home.
  12. Maybe we can swap Priester for a high A toolsy outfielder and a draft pick…… But what a night for offense mostly. And some really nice pitching - Mr. Cornielle with a nice outing; Henderson as well, and M. Hernandez in relief in Columbia. That Mudcat offense - Bitonti is in a bit of the struggle right now while most of the rest of the lineup is clicking.
  13. Good write up, interesting that there are few overall impact arms from the IFA pool. And for the Brewers since those years (2017 on) as far as I can tell is Abner Uribe - unless I missed someone we traded away. And more recently it looks like Alexandre Cornielle is the next best option in AA.
  14. Good Yerlin. Strikes out the first two - hitting 96 mph with ease. And then a grounder to SS. TRats win 4-2. Nice come from behind win. Let’s hope the other affiliates can work some magic. Big league club is in a big big funk. Need good vibes from the minors to get me through this.
  15. Ok. Infield grounder and an error and Garcia is on. Then he’s caught in a run down with a pickoff attempt, and outs thrown into the outfield, he gets the 3rd, and a WP and that’s an insurance run. Yerlin in for the 9th. Fingers crossed.
  16. Aquino induced a grounder to SS and nice play Areinamo and it’s a double play, then a deep fly ball to deep left but just under it enough and it’s the 3rd out. tRats still up 3-2 heading to 9. Aquino efficiently thru 2 IP with 27 pitches. Was hitting 92. Let’s see if they can get an insurance run …. Or 2.
  17. Hardin had 8 H allowed and 2BB against all season coming into the game, and allowed almost the same amount in just 4 innings. Perez and Burke most of the offense. With Guilarte and Hal each with a double. Aquino in the 8th. Has the batter off balance, and a soft grounder into no man’s land between pitcher and 1st, and play made but no chance to get the runner/batter. Hopefully he can keep the lead intact.
  18. TRats tied late. Hardin had a decent line, not his most efficient best: 4 IP, 80 pitches, 5K, but 6 H and 2 BB. And Perez homers as I just turn in. No doubter to right. So now TRats 3-2 lead.
  19. Biloxi has had a nice little run of late with the offense being not-anemic. Garret Spain being a little spark, and the young kids (mostly Pratt, but also Adams, Lara) have had some success after very slow starts. Yowza - 42 posts total the past three nights total -. that’s a normal one night post total! Definitely missing Joseph. And a lot of other things going on. And I know I’m far from a regular but I hadn’t been able to watch this week - work and travel. Hope to back to help get the minor league daily link back going next week thanks for the great write up Jim!
  20. From what I have watched from Peña is he is plenty athletic and can field the infield, footwork and his throws are erratic but the arm when he covered third was fine. I think he can play in the infield if he works on footwork and gets the throws ok, and I’ll give him a pass as one the youngest players in A ball. If he is still struggling with this next season or the seasons after I will start to worry, but the sky’s the limit still even defensively for him.
  21. T-Rats get a run back, and now bottom of 9 Garcia singles steals a base and goes to 3rd on a wild pitch and Areinamo gets him home with a grounder. But 2 outs. Burke up and 3-2 count down to the last strike, and he takes strike 3 at the knees. Ugh. Have to at least swing there. A 3-2 loss. Heart break last night with a walk off against, and just no full comeback in them tonight. This is not a Victor Estevez team -- yet. He is at the helm and has a few good players, still trying to figure them out. They are staying competitive but no extra gear yet. If Areinamo ever moves up there is not much in that line up, unless Burke can start to hit, or several current Muddies get promoted.
  22. Be still my heart. The Shhhhuckerrrrs tonight. That’s extra Hs and Rs. Garret Spain has really helped that offense. Pratt and Lara with hits. Wilken still deep in the struggle with a 2B but 3K - boy will his prospect status ever rebound. Talk about a rebound - KC Hunt with a good outing statistically - 6 IP, 2H, 2BB and 5K on 86 pitches. Sothe Biscuits have 4 hits in the series yet it’s a 1-1 series so far. Because, you know, baseball. 🙄 EDIT - nevermind - the Biscuits have 6 hits because you know there were other pitchers after KC Hunt. But still 3 runs and 6 hits allowed in two games is good pitching for Biloxi.
  23. Well except for Biloxi - who was down 2-0 early, and now ends the game without a run. Only 2 runs total, and only 3 hits combined between the teams. The difference the Biscuits hit a 2-run home run.
  24. All 4 affiliated games go to the last inning with ties or lead changes. Exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.
  25. Suckers down to their last at bats here. Wilken grounds out. Then Darrien Miller walks. Only 1 hit all night long. That is crazy. But the Biscuits have only 2 hits.
