  1. Sure. Then we could walk in the winning run. That's about the only thing we haven't done lately. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Cordero recovered. Hard to blame it on him given all the chances our stupid offense kicked away.
  2. How many other guys had chances with runners in scoring position today? You can't live by the home run, and you can't rely on one guy to come up with all your big hits. Seems like when we're not doing one, we're doing the other.
  3. Can't wait to be one game up. I have more important things to do than listen to another extra-inning chokejob, or a walkoff hit in the ninth. Whatever. See you guys later.
  4. http://image.listen.com/img/356x237/0/8/4/0/510480_356x237.jpg The man can wear his sunglasses whenever he wants if he can get going again! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  5. By the way.. YMMV, but of all the things Ned has done in this series to infuriate us, I have this WAY down on the list. I mean, it's not even close. If I had to choose whether to give Prince a day off or send Prince from first on a 3-2 pitch to a windmill, I'd take the day off. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. I'm guessing that something like this depends on the individual. Some guys might prefer to have two days off in a row, but others might want to have their days off spread out more (I know I do...I don't like having more than three days off at once because I never feel right when I get back to work). If that's the case, and I don't know what Fielder prefers or what Ned thinks is best for Fielder, then it would make sense to take a day off today before the team plays a grinding four-game series in three days in what will probably be some hot weather.
  7. We have four games in three days before it's Sunday. We have a day off on Monday. This is the perfect time to give Fielder a day off if he's not going to get more than one day off a month (outside of our scheduled days off). And I'm not going to give Fielder a day off when Scott Rolen is resting. No, thanks. You give your guys a day off when you think they need one...not when someone else's good players are taking a day off.
  8. Is it safe in here yet? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  9. Prince played Monday night and Wednesday night. How did those games go? This is .6% of our season. What's more important than today is making sure guys are fresh for a tough series this weekend and the other 55 or whatever games are left after that. And if we can't beat the Reds, who are starting a lefty, without Prince in the lineup, we're probably screwed, anyway.
  10. Maybe this has already been conveyed in the 15-page thread, but here's an idea... Since there seem to be a lot of numbers that support both sides, how about we put away the hatchets and let the guy join the team and prove himself as either a good or bad pickup? Then we can move on to talking about whether or not we need to get another bat, and if so, who we should be going after.
  11. Does the average human work out 29 days in a row? No? Getting guys a day or two off once in a while is NOT a bad thing.
  12. Would you rather Prince sat today against a lefty, or Sunday against Kip Wells? We need to win some games, yes, but we also need to remember that the boys have four games in three days this weekend.
  13. Unless Linebrink can hit (or at least draw some walks) or take Suppan's spot in the rotation, you may have a point.
  14. If DM thinks Ned is so bad at managing the bullpen (he wouldn't be alone), then why is the solution to make the bullpen better? Wouldn't it cost us fewer prospects to just make the manager better at managing the bullpen?
  15. Oh, I don't think July 8 even comes remotely close to that joke last night. If you think July 8 was a colossal blunder, then you must be convinced that Ned was screwing up on purpose last night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. I had a huge problem sitting three regulars last night. No such problem sitting one regular today. You can talk about Ned "babying" these guys, but you won't have the same attitude when Prince is worn out and can't get it going in a playoff series. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. www.signonsandiego.com/sp...adres.html Sounds like there are some upset Padre pitchers.
  18. If we're going to follow the Twins' model, as has been suggested, shouldn't we either stand pat or make a really minor move at the deadline? To me, this move signifies a desire to win as much or more than anything the Twins have ever done at the deadline.
  19. Hmm...not an awful lineup today. I'm still vehemently opposed to Weeks hitting leadoff until he actually gets it going, but whatever. Now if we can avoid trying anything stupid with men on base, maybe we'll have a shot.
  20. Sadly, FTJ, we all may think Yost couldn't possibly do anything dumber without doing it on purpose, yet we all know we'll be proven wrong at some point. I mean, at least most of the time I've gotten mad at Yost it was for stuff that was at least remotely defensible. I can usually think of a couple of at least passable reasons for a move I think is bad. This time, I got nothing. Sure, Fielder could score from first on a gapper, but are we really worried about that here? The odds of Jenkins hitting a gapper are a helluva lot worse than the odds of Jenkins either walking or striking out, and Fielder running accomplishes us nothing in any situation except an infield grounder or a gapper. Not to mention that it probably would have taken a defensive misplay for Fielder to score even on a gapper because the outfield was playing Jenkins pretty deep. The risk was WAY too high for any reward. I'm shocked the manager didn't realize this. Actually, I'm not shocked at all.
  21. Wait. We're talking about the wild card? Bah! Win the division!
  22. Give Ned Yost credit. Every time we get on him for doing something dumb, he finds a way to out-do himself. "I mean...you thought that LINEUP was dumb. Hell, wait until I send Prince from first base on a 3-2 pitch to Jenkins. Ha! I did it again!!"
  23. He's tired. All that running after ground balls that got through the infield.
  24. Well, Ned's given up. Why? I don't know. But Spurling is a sign that the white flag is out. See you all tomorrow.
