  1. I'm not going to defend what was said - not in the least. But aren't you surprised that this didn't happen sooner? We're as punchy, if not more so, than the players right now. It's part of the reason why I try not to sit at the computer during the game and post. I at least will wait until the shoes drop and the bad things have all happened and I quit watching. If I posted during the game while I was watching, I'd already be banned from this board. Again...I'm not defending a physical threat against another poster at all. I'm just saying that I'm surprised that this was the first time this month that I'd read such a comment. Fret not, college football cranks up tomorrow night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Here goes Coop's audition for the Milwaukee job next year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. Cecil Cooper's the interim manager. Announcement now: http://www.click2houston.com/video/10913036/index.html
  4. Just got that word from someone in Houston. Report came from SportsRadio 610 down there. I'll link when I find one. (updated thread title; added tags --1992)
  5. How about the Cubs? *DUCK!* http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif
  6. Oh, come on. That ball wasn't hit very hard. It only went off the wall in one of the deepest parts of that park.
  7. After seeing Gabe Gross hitting cleanup, I have to think it's just a matter of time before things get so bad that it makes sense to have Estrada hit leadoff. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eyes.gif
  8. It's a lot easier than teaching proper throwing mechanics to young pitchers. Just limit their innings so they don't have as much of a chance at getting hurt. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  9. Kason Gabbard's RS numbers are going to go up slightly. Jayson Stark's going to have a field day with this. Not every day does a team lose by 27 after taking a 3-0 lead. Hell, I would have guessed the Brewers would do that first. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Michael Young's a freaking bum. HOW DO YOU NOT DRIVE IN A RUN? http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eek.gif 29 hits. 6 home runs. 2 doubles. 21 singles. Now THAT'S manufacturing runs. I think they just wanted to show up Garrett Anderson. Think the Orioles are regretting that managerial hire?
  10. Oh, I don't deny how horrible Villy's been. Not at all. But a loss is a loss. And at least we'd be trying something to break the monotony. Capuano starting isn't working. Villanueva doing anything doesn't appear to be working. If this doesn't work, you've given Capuano some time away from the pressure of starting, even if it's only 10-12 days.
  11. Is Villanueva so far gone now that it's too late to try to get him back this season? I don't know that it would work, but could it really hurt at this point to give Villanueva the next start in Capuano's turn, which wouldn't have to come until Saturday because of the day off Thursday? Shelf him until Saturday, give him a side session like he's a starter. Considering the results of his last 16 starts, it can't go any worse.
  12. This goes back, IMHO, to the mini-argument I had with Ennder in the game thread. If Parra is up too high in innings now, then we need to get him back to the minors and get a body in that bullpen who can actually pitch if needed. We're so pinched in the pen because of, well, all the starters sucking. Parra only being available for an inning or two every 4-5 days, as it seems, is killing them.
  13. So, how many more incredibly stupid things is it going to take for management to get a clue? I mean, Yost practically tried to lose this game. If I didn't think he was a pretty competitive guy, I might think he was trying to lose it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. Bad fans are the ones who are always trying to start stuff, no matter how well the team is playing. That's the best actual definition I could take a guess at.
  15. Depends. You shouldn't be calling on him to be fired because he had a bad day. Even the good ones will make an occasional mistake. In general, there are very few "bad fans" out there, and they probably are just as likely to fall on either side of this debate.
  16. I'd prefer none. Seems like first-inning runs are a bad omen around these parts.
  17. Why do I have a suspicion that tonight's three-run, two-out rally in the first inning won't go by the wayside? Stupid. I'm just stupid. Why am I putting myself through this?
  18. With the high pitch counts and inability to put guys away in key situations, I'm just wondering if the shine is off the Mad Dog star, especially when it comes to the starters.
  19. 1. I've umped before and have never heard of that. In fact, my supervisor told me I could eject a guy who was walking away from me if he was excessively mouthy. If there is a crowd, well that's a good time to use the number on the back of a guy's shirt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif 2. I saw Bell continuing the argument past the point it needed to go. Once he tossed Prince, and Prince knew he was tossed, all he had to do was stay at the dish and let Prince walk away. Unfortunately, Bell saw the need to keep it going.
  20. Well, we are carrying 12 pitchers right now. At some point, these starters have to take responsibility for the bullpen being "overworked". Oh, and Linebrink and Cordero haven't worked since Saturday. Turnbow since Friday. That takes care of three innings tonight if need be, and if Gallardo can't get us at least to the seventh, we're probably screwed.
  21. Why would that be a disaster? Umpires throw out players who are sitting with their teammates in the dugout. There's not much reason to think that Bell had to follow Prince, and there's certainly no good reason for him to have been yelling back at Prince the whole time. No defense of Prince, who acted immaturely, but Bell couldn't have handled that much worse unless he had taken a swing at Prince.
  22. Since the 2006, All-Star break, Claudio Vargas is 14-9 with a 4.82 ERA. Chris Capuano is 6-18 with a 5.20 ERA. Plus, Vargas is the fifth starter. Most teams would kill for a fifth starter who can at least get his team into the sixth inning pretty consistently. On the other hand, Capuano as a "third starter" or even a "fourth starter" is killing us, especially when there's at least the chance we could use a younger guy and upgrade the position.
  23. If he puts Capuano in the bullpen it will be one of the better reasons I've seen to fire him. So how long do we let this guy struggle? If Hardy needs to be in the 8-spot for three days, Crapuano certainly could benefit from a few days in the bullpen to work on his issues. And he certainly has been very unlucky, too. I'm not denying that. But this is a pennant race. You can't afford inaction right now. While Suppan has shown signs of life at times, Cappy has been crappy pretty much since May.
  24. Ned Yost should be beaten with a tack hammer if he even considers letting Crapuano make his next start.
  25. It was a vent and a question, if that's possible. I'm pretty sure I was still wearing a jacket to work in the morning the last time Villy was seriously reliable. He was great earlier, but his ERAs over 11 since the break with few signs of life or an imminent turnaround. Parra's no more reliable than Spurling because he's been given one chance to be reliable. I mean, if we can't use the guy ever because of concerns about his workload, then why is he here?
