  1. Okay, that's good to hear.
  2. I know that after his saves streak ended, he left a note on his locker for the media saying he had to get to the hospital because his wife went into labor. Anybody here anything after that. I believe it was premature, so was just wondering if everything went okay. anybody hear?
  3. I honestly think that with the technology we have today, balls and strikes could and maybe should be done by computers. Safe and out calls would probably still have to be done with computers though. Just saying.
  4. Thanks stout, basically the same with me. Went from a lower definition tv to a higher one. Any help would be cool. I would love to get the game again, but not if the problems are the same. I could see the PS2 having problems since it was made before HD, but the PS3 shouldn't have these problems.
  5. Anyone know if this years game has some of the same issues with timing that the last couple years had? Basically, with my HD TV, the last few years the swing timing is way off. When you would time your swing, the ball would be half way to home, but your player would hack at the ball like it was already past him, and you would be very late on your swing. It's very hard for me to explain, so I'm not sure if people are going to get what I mean without actually seeing it. Basically, to time it right, you have to swing right when the ball leaves the pitcher's hand, but that obviously means you just have to hope it's in the strike zone. It's the same way for pitching. when you use the pitch meter and try to line the cursor up with the release point, it's way late and you basically miss your spot by a huge amount. To have a good release point, you have to hit the button when the cursor is at about 12 o'clock on the meter, rather than about 2 o'clock where the target release point is. All the timing was perfect when I still had my 1080i tv, but ever since i got the new tv, it doesn't play well. Just got annoying, so i don't think i'm going to get this years version unless that is fixed. I went online last year to some forumns and was told that the game was designed with a Sony TV, and therefore some other brands have this problem. You can adjust settings on the TV and get the timing slightly better but not good.
  6. Comment away. No matter what your opinion is, on any topic, someone is going to disagree with you vehemently. That's part of the board. I, for one, have never cared what others think about my opinions.
  7. I don't mind Ishikawa batting 8th at all. He's got some pop from the 8th spot. This is actually a pretty decent lineup. Hopefully we can get a few homers and get out with a sweep. Go Crew!
  8. It rolled into a fenced in garbage area by one of there practice fields where Cappy was working out. My nephew, 5 yo at the time, started tearing up. I said don't worry buddy, I'll get you another ball. Cappy was standing inside the fence and saw what happened, said don't worry, I got it. And as he's on his hands and knees, stretching as far as his arm will go, all I'm thinking is "Please God, don't tear anything." At least he used his right arm.
  9. Capuano is still my nephew's favorite major league player ever since he got on his hands and knees and pulled a baseball from underneath a dumpster that had gotten away when we were playing catch at spring training. He came over with the ball and chatted for about 10 minutes. Then the next season at spring training, he came over, remembered us, asked my nephew about his tee ball team (which he remembered the name), and spent another 15 minutes chatting or so. Total class act. As far as my nephew having a professional athlete as a role-model, I'm not sure he can do better than Capuano. Therefore, I will be cheering for the Brewers to get the win, but I hope it's like 2-1 or so with Cappy pitching very well.
  10. Terrible news. Prayers go out to the family. I was really surprised that Ueck did the game on Saturday. I don't think anyone would blame him if he took as much time off as he wanted to.
  11. Gomez HAS homered the last two opening days if I remember correctly. This is usually his best game of the season guys.
  12. Gomez HAS homered the last two opening days if I remember correctly. This is usually his best game of the season guys.
  13. Of the guys you mention, Peralta, Fiers, and Bradley have my confidence if something happens this year. Fiers had a bad spring in limited innings. His make-up and his stuff, suggest that he should not be successful, but every year, wherever he is, he succeeds. At the risk of being cliche, "Dude's a gamer". Thornburg is another guy who is interesting, and has lights out stuff. But, i think if we need some fill ins this year due to injury, Peralta, Fiers, and Bradley are our best bets after Estrada.
  14. That's who I assumed would claim him. The Reds are in much more need of bullpen arms than the Crew. I know that they want Chapman in the rotation, but the way their bullpen has been losing arms, they might not have a choice.
  15. We have two closers on the team. The Reds lose Madsen, and the Royals lose Soria for the year. Do either of those teams have anything we could get for a closer?
  16. Has anyone else gotten a reply from Passan. I asked him about the lie detector test and the replication of the results. This is what he wrote back. As for the lie-detector test ... haven't heard a single credible source of mine say that, and anyway, polygraphs are on the whole too inaccurate to judge them as a science. The replication of results is again something I haven't confirmed -- and it regarded only the T:E ratio, not the synthetic testosterone in Braun's urine. It's not my responsibility to quash others' reports. If they're material, I will write about them. The poly isn't. And unless I'm given the exact scenario in which it was "replicated," along with access to the scientist who did it and his/her methods, I don't think it's responsible for me to write that Any responses from any of our smarter posters? I was under the impression that lie detectors were used all the time in court. But it could be that I watch to much TV. I don't have a scientific bone in my body, so the T:E stuff isn't in my wheelhouse. This is just an excerpt from his response. The rest is him basically saying he loves watching Braun, but it's his job to be objective and report only the facts. I almost spit my cheerios on my computer when I read that.
  17. In times of trouble, you find out who your friends are, and Rodgers has been an awesome friend in my opinion.
  18. I basically asked him why his opinion pieces are always so one sided without any opinions from reliable sources. He never quotes anyone and obviously hasn't talked to Das, who's opinion is basically the only one that matters.
  19. This is the email he wrote me back. It's pretty generic, but like I said, maybe a smarter poster could get something decent from him. But, I'm probably not that poster. Matthew -- I'm happy to respond. I've done research. I've spoken with a number of people involved in the arbitration hearing. I wouldn't write as confidently as I do if I didn't have information from sources I trust. I cannot name these sources because they ask for anonymity in exchange for the truth. It's something my editors and I are willing to grant. Some ask for it because revealing the information could cost them their jobs. Others ask for it because Braun is a friend and they don't want to look like rats. As long as I tell the story like it really happened -- not as MLB or Braun wants to spin it -- I'm willing to sacrifice on-the-record quotes. I think it's a fair trade. Plenty of people in the media and fans don't like my conclusions. They do respect my willingness to seek out facts, however, and I'd like to think you'd do the same even if you disagree with what I write. I appreciate you reading and hope you continue to do so. Thanks, Jeff
  20. Has anyone written to Jeff Passan and called him out on his reporting. I have and actually received an email in response from him answering my questions and defending what he wrote. But, i'm not very smart, so i was thinking maybe some of our smarter posters (pebadger), could have better results.
  21. I've taken urine tests for multiple jobs before, and every time it was sealed with a simple piece of medical adhesive. My mother is also the health and business administrative coordinator at one of the hospitals in the fox valley. They have administered thousands of tests and they do the same thing. Someone wouldn't even have to be "very motivated" to tamper. You can simply remove the tape and put a new one on. That's only before it gets to the lab, according to her. Once it gets to the lab, it's assigned a number, and then locked down like fort knox.
  22. Thanks everyone. I'll try to watch it on Fox 6 if they have it then. I can't watch ESPN. I've decided to only watch ESPN when they actually have sporting events on like college basketball. Everything else they have is terrible.
  23. Does anyone know when Braun is going to talk to the press? And if so, is it going to be aired anywhere? His press conference is the only thing I'm interested in, in regards to this story anymore. ESPN is a pathetic joke.
