  1. Uecker said that Weeks was taken out because of a sprained pinky. For you or me, we wouldn't miss a day of work. But, for a baseball player, how serious is a sprained pinky? Seems like it would be hard to hit.
  2. I would be totally shocked, but happy.
  3. I'm excited about this game too. I know it's early in the season, but yesterday can do nothing but build confidence for this team. They hit a pitcher that they weren't supposed to be able to hit. And for twenty one straight innings, they shut down a lineup that is not supposed to be able to be shut down. It's only two games, but the road to the World Series will most likely pass through Philly, and they proved that they can hang with the best.
  4. Production from the bottom of the order is a beautiful thing. If we can get that against Halladay, we have a chance.
  5. Just mentioned on TV that Greinke went six up and six down with a couple strikeouts for Brevard County. Not sure how many pitches he threw, but it's a good sign.
  6. I did a double take myself when I saw that Yuni had the best numbers against Halladay. But, it is what it is. Either way, he's the best pitcher in the major leagues, so any team would be hard pressed to find a lot of guys with good offense against him in their careers.
  7. I wouldn't mind a rainout either. We used a lot of pitchers in the last two days, with a double header and then extras yesterday. Could use a day off. Plus, I'm not too confident about our offense being able to hit Halladay at this point in the season. But, on the other hand, the road to the World Series would probably go through Philly at some point, so if this team wants to be legit, they got to beat him at some point.
  8. Braun destroys Gorzelanny. Surprised that Weeks struggles so much against him though.
  9. Right when I typed that, I heard the crack of the bat. I guess he's still hot.
  10. Well, at least I can watch the season premiere of Deadliest Catch then. Not a total loss I guess.
  11. I saw on that link, that Matt Erickson is the manager of the T-Rats. Is that the same Matt Erickson that was a Brewers minor leaguer just a few years ago?
  12. What I like so far this season, is he's getting ahead of the count with his off speed stuff. Throwing that stuff for strike one instead of just putting a fastball over the plate always seams like a good strategy. I also love the fact that, he gets the ball from the catcher and is ready to pitch. He keeps the game flowing and it may not seem like much, but sometimes umpires will give you the borderline calls when you don't take forever between pitches. Cappy was the same way, and Sheets always worked fast. I know I'm knitpicking but that was always my problem with guys like Doug Davis. Even when he was on it was brutal watching him pitch, and when he was off, it was torture. Not saying I know what is going on in umpires heads, but maybe that had something to do with Davis rarely getting those borderline strikes.
  13. Lucroy is going to be with the team Tuesday in Pitt. Is he starting right away you think?
  14. When I was in high school and college our first baseman always did the same thing and I asked about it once. He said it was an exercise that he learned to loosen up the abdomen. Apparently, according to him, it helps when stretching for a throw at first base or pivoting to avoid muscle pulls and abdomen cramps. Don't know if I believe him, but his dad is a doctor and told him to do it. So, whatever, who am I to argue?
  15. Stealing one from the Cubs is twice as nice. It's like trailing to the Bears all game then kicking a 55 yard field goal to win with no time left. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
  16. My guide says it's not on WGN here. It's a bunch of crappy sitcoms, then news at nine.
  17. I hear ya. Green Bay sucks to be a Brewer fan. Honestly, I can't watch the Crew and I have no desire to watch a Bucks game other than watching Jack Sikma and Ricky Pierce tear it up. Wait, they're retired? When did that happen? Oh, that's a long time ago. Then who do they have now? Who is that? Never mind, no Bucks game for me.
  18. Walden from the angels is a good pickup. he's the closer right now, and it's his job to lose.
  19. Nice! Back on track. I love you again Axford!!! I know that means a lot to you.
  20. Chipper Jones is the one guy I didn't want to see. It worked out good, but, I was scared.
  21. Nice! That actually worked out perfect for the crew. Now instead of facing the 4-5-6 hitters in the ninth, we have the 7-8-9 hitters. Perfect.
  22. It is not a nickname, it is another person. For example, when he is on the ball field or ice rink he is a bad mother who doesn't back down from anyone including catchers who weigh 100 lbs more than him. When he is accompanying a fashionable young debutant to the opera, tasting wine, hunting foxes or playing bridge he becomes the charming chap Tony Plush.Okay, well I'll probably stick to calling him Nyjer then, because I'm assuming that the only time I'll see him is on the ball field. I do have a man-crush I think, but I don't think he'll ever escort me to the opera. Which is probably for the best since my grandmother just had heart surgery, and I don't think she could take the news.
