  1. Are the Brewers just really bad at evaluating shortstops? We had Scutaro and got rid of him for something that escapes my memory. He went on to have a pretty solid career. We had Hardy, and traded him for a platoon (at best) outfielder. He had a monster year this season, and signed a pretty reasonable extension, if I remember right. We had Escobar, who the book isn't written on, and we traded him for our current shortstop, who we don't want, and seems like he may be our shortstop again next year. I wasn't a fan of the Hardy deal when it was made, and even less so now.
  2. Me too man. This is the first game I can watch this postseason. I'm busy right now covering my living room with plastic and i'm ready to pop the champagne.
  3. Man, to ESPN's credit, it seems they are giving more love to the Brewers than the local media up here in Green Bay. I mean, i love the Packers too, but when the Brewers playoff game is story number four on the news, and the first three stories are about Packer practice, something is not right.
  4. Not sure if anyone caught the feature about Ax on Baseball Tonight. Nyjer was also on Rome's radio show today. Both very good pieces. Great to see the Crew getting some national media love.
  5. My PS3 automatically goes to 720p if that is what the game requires and my TV will go to that resolution. One way to find out what resolution your TV is at is to hit the info button on your remote for your TV it will tell you what resolution you are in or at least all of the TV's I have owned have done this. As for MLB the Show there is an option to change how fast the pitches are simulated at in the gameplay options. Try messing with that also I noticed with my TV I have to swing really fast and I can't see where the pitch is going before I swing so I have made the ball travel slower to be able to give me more time to see where it is going. What kind of TV do you have? Lots of TV's have specific slots for their HDMI inputs for gaming as opposed to movies, this sort of automatically syncs up with the PS3 then. For example: It's a Hitachi 1080p LCD. The PS3 was plugged into the HDMI 1 port but i switched it to the 4 port. The timing on the pitching is good now. My RTTS guy is a starting pitcher and that seems to work really good right now. Haven't tried the hitting yet, but hopefully this solves it. Also the game mode is on. Thanks for the help guys.
  6. Don't most games/systems come with a method of syncing you up with the TV? I haven't really looked at much on my 360, but it does have settings for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All of those result in a slightly different amount of lag, but no discernible difference in picture for me. but I know guitar hero had something to sync up in the options menu. Anybody know where that is on the ps3. Highlighting the box for 1080p doesn't really do anything. It's a 1080p tv and the game is supposed to be best in 720p I believe. But, i don't really know how to synch the tv and ps3 to run at the same resolution or whatever. I mean, does it mean that the tv has to be set at 720p or the ps3, or both. And if it's both, I have no idea to change the tv, not even sure that is possible.
  7. I play guess pitch off but I am pretty sure there is an option to go back to the old way. The ONLY difference I think there is that you dont see the circle blink bright red if you pick both corrrect....is that what you dont like about it? Or is there something different? If you want the bright red you have to choose 1/8 I believe it is as the guessing pitch and location. That will give you the red dot if you guess correctly. Actually, there is only 1/4 and 1/6 and if you guess right on either, you get the red dot. What is different with last year is if you guessed fastball and you were right, you got the red dot no matter where the pitch was. Now you have to guess the location right to get the dot. It was just annoying at first, but I'm getting used to it. The main thing is, with my TV, the timing is way off, so if I'm wrong on the guess, and it's a fastball, I have to swing the second that the pitcher releases the ball, otherwise I'm way to late. It's basically impossible to tell if it's a strike or a ball, you just have to swing and hope that it's a strike. Mainly it's the TV, and I'm not sure what else to do to adjust it. I've tried pretty much everything. Anyway, Skymm looks awesome, but I'm looking forward to the final Assassin's Creed mainly, and Uncharted 3. The new Bioshock is supposed to be really great too. Getting very good reviews. Arkham City looks good, the new Metal Gear Solid, and Battlefield 3. Basically, there are a ton of great looking games coming out. Anybody played Killzone 3 or F.E.A.R. 3 yet?
  8. Well, I'm still a firm believer that no prospect is untradeable no matter how good they are in AAA.
  9. Man, Peralta has been dealing for a while now. He looks good especially since being brought up to Nashville. So........what should Melvin maybe try to get for him? The last sentence should maybe be light blue since I'm only half serious.
  10. Maybe I'm the only one who hates this, but I'm pissed that The Show changed the guess pitch in this years game. I understand that they wanted to make it more realistic, but I don't play games for realism, I play to have fun, and honestly batting .235 is not fun. I know, also, that alot of the online people hated the guess pitch, but there are a lot of people (I believe most) that don't play online and like to enjoy the single player. I enjoyed guess pitch the way it was, and at the very least they could have kept it and gave you the OPTION to use it. As far as the thread goes, I'm looking forward to arkham city, and definitely the new assassins creed, and uncharted 3. those two are my number 2 and number 3 franchises behind metal gear solid. speaking of which, not sure when the new metal gear solid comes out, but i'll be preordering that one.
  11. I never said he was a great manager, I just said he does better than I could, (and most likely you). That's why I'm not going to criticize his decisions because they seem to work. Today, all of our hits have come from our bench, Yuni, and our pitcher. Maybe RR knows what he's doing.
  12. That is how I feel. A lot of the complaints seem rather nit picky at this point. The fact that the pitching has been unreal has nothing to do with it? And they also won on the last homestand while the offense was pretty bad. With as good as the team (especially pitching) has been playing, I don't think it really mattered who was managing. All I'm saying, is the way this team is playing is giving me great vibes, and I'm not going to nitpick about stuff that seems to be working. I'm not going to let little things get me down, I'm just going to enjoy the ride and cheer on every single one of these guys. I know there is a lot of people on this board that like to manage from their living room, but I know I couldn't do as good a job as RR has, and that's why I am not going to criticize someone who does something well, that I couldn't. Same reason that I don't feel I have a right to criticize guys like Yuni or Kotsay for doing a job that I know I could never do well. Plus, as I'm typing this, Yuni and Kottaras just got us two runs. That's all I'm saying, trying to bring some more good karma to our boys.
  13. I'm not questioning Ron's lineups any more. They seem to work, and we're 24 games over .500, so he must be pretty good at this stuff.
  14. When you're in Pittsburgh, you have to eat at the original Palmantii Bros. (butchered the spelling, help?). Ate at the one in Ft. Lauderdale and it is the most amazing sandwich ever. It's world famous, so I'm sure you'll be able to find where it is. When I went to Cooperstown a few years ago, we stopped at Gettysburg on the way back. If you're a history guy like me, Gettysburg and Philly (Independence Hall) are must sees. Great time. As far as the sandwiches, they take the french fries and coleslaw and put it right on the sandwich. Don't knock it, it is absolutely unbelievable. Definitely have to be hungry though, cause they are huge.
  15. Plus, I don't think knowing whether it is a fastball, change, curve, or whatever is that important if you make your pitches. Now pitch location is important. If you know a pitch is down and away before hand, it doesn't matter what the pitch is. But, if you know a fastball is coming, you still have to gauge if it's at the letters, down and away, on the hands etc. They are all different.
  16. any predictions on when we might get our top three picks under contract?
  17. Me thinks these might be signs of his hang-over. Just saying.
  18. Yahoo is reporting that former Yankee Hideki Irabu was found dead in his home of an apparent suicide. Sad news. Was indifferent towards him as a player, but as a human being, this is sad news. prayers to his family.
  19. Anyone who decides to try Chantix, just make sure you're okay with the side effects before you hand over the money. They not exactly cheap. I thought I was okay with the side effects but after four sleepless nights, (my vivid dream was me murdering my sons puppy and then strangling my son) I couldn't do it anymore. The main thing is, when I dream, the minute I wake up, I forget everything about the dream. But, with this dream, everytime I saw my son or the puppy, the dream would flood completely into my head. It was pure hell. The main thing with smoking is willpower. Whether it's the gum, the patch, hypnosis, or whatever, if you don't commit yourself to actually stopping smoking, nothing will work. There is aids for nicotine addiction, but there isn't a cure. Either way though, be careful with Chantix. I truly believe it is the worst drug to ever be put on the market.
  20. Intentional or not it was an "up yours" gesture. It can be considered an obscene gesture. Maybe you don't, but others do.Fat people in tank tops are much more obscene than what Nyjer did and you can't look anywhere in the ballpark in SF without seeing that..Same could be said right here at Miller Park though. Let's face it, we are not a good looking fanbase.
  21. Exactly RockCo. I'll make a wager that when you were having a good game on the mound, and your confidence was high, you could throw wherever you wanted to. It was the same way when I was hitting and "seeing the ball well". Confidence can't be measured with any kind of stat, and you can't make a graph about it, but it is still real with any sport, and it is a huge factor when it comes to success.
  22. . Any sport I've ever played, confidence was huge. The yips exist in every sport. Nobody can really explain them, but they happen all the time. When I played in high school and JUCO, if I was on a hot streak, the ball looked huge, if i was on a cold streak, it was in the catchers mitt before I even saw it. I'm not a sabermetric stat guy, never will be. I just like watching a game and enjoying it for the entertainment value. But, just because something like confidence, or clutch, or body language can't be put in a graph, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There is no reason that stat guys and non-stat guys have to constantly be arguing about this crap. Because neither side is ever going to change the other sides view and both sides will always say that they are right. I understand that arguing and debating are all part of the forum, but the bottom line is, a stat guy will never view this great game through the eyes of a non-stat guy, and vice versa. Everyone is watching the same game, but everyone is seeing it differently.
  23. Well, I didn't say that was my view, I said I believed that some writers used that argument. I agree with you. It's the same way that the Heisman never goes to the best player. It goes to the guy with the hype and the team.
  24. If this is discussed somewhere else, delete this post please. But 107.5 ESPN radio in Green Bay just mentioned that Weeks is the top vote getter now for second base.
