  1. fox6news.com is also reporting that he will not serve a 50 game suspension. Who to believe. I already called my mom when I heard the good news. Please be true.
  2. fox6now.com was talking about Ravech's tweets, but was also saying that Braun was supposed to arrive at camp this afternoon, not tomorrow. Maybe they are announcing it right when he gets there.
  3. Lomira, go Lions! And, after Oakfield got wiped out by that tornado, our football team went that Saturday and helped clean up main street. Rumor is, THEIR football team spent the day beating up orphans and using them to club baby seals, while spraying thousands of Aerosol cans into the air. I have an unconfirmed source, so according to ESPN rules, i can run with the story.
  4. No, not good news. I grew up in Mayville....nothing good there. Mayville was our rivals in high school. You're right, nothing good has ever come out of Mayville. In fact, I believe Mayville is where Hitler was born. That's just what I heard.
  5. I have a feeling Harden's career has went the way of Ben Sheets. One pitch away from his arm ripping off, flying into the stands, and hurting someone very badly. If you were DM, would you want that on your conscience?
  6. You're partially right. I was watching some of the postgame and the ticker at the bottom said they agreed to a two year contract for 8 million total not 8 million a year. I almost past out with joy, then realized that they were obviously wrong.
  7. I've been watching Alcatraz, and I'm glad I stuck with it. It's like Lost in a lot of ways, where the first couple episodes is setting everything up and revealing a lot of mysteries. Now, it's starting to pick up with some answers.
  8. I'm encouraged by the length of time it has taken to get a verdict. In court cases, the longer the jury deliberates, the better chances of the accused being exonerated. This isn't exactly the same thing as a criminal case, but it has similar elements.
  9. As far as I remember, he can still play in spring training and any game that doesn't mean anything. He could even play in extended spring training exhibitions.
  10. I think that if Morgan and Weeks are on base, Braun most definitely gets pitched to. Braun is excellent, but he's not Barry Bonds. Not to many teams would intentionally load the bases. Hart would bat fifth in any order that Morgan is in. If Morgan is not playing, and Gomez is, then Gomez bats 7th, Hart leads off, and Lucroy bats 5th. Either way, Weeks would bat second. I think he is a perfect number two hitter.
  11. I advocated all last year to have Rickie batting second behind Morgan (when he was in the lineup). They both get on base at a good clip and then teams can't pitch around Braun as easily.
  12. BTW "The Majik Man reached in his hat and pulled out a touchdown to Sterling" was perhaps my favorite. Probably just cause I loved the Majik Man. I know the call was during the 89 season and I think it was the upset of the niners, but I'll never be sure.
  13. Sad day up here in Titletown. Rest in Peace Jim.
  14. Not sure how adventurous you are, but as for food ideas, there is a great little diner called Crystal's. It's down town and specializes in Lebanese food. When done right, which Crystal's does, Lebanese food is awesome. I'm a chef by trade, and I love trying other cultures traditional food, and Lebanese food is a hidden gem. If you've never tried it, you should give it a try. Lots of lamb dishes and tons of flavor.
  15. That's true Briggs, except Olney just wrote a story on Friday saying that for the integrity of the game, Braun should have refused the award at the ceremony on Saturday. But, you're very right about Dan Patrick. He has a beef with ESPN, but just cause you leave a company doesn't mean you leave all friendships behind. Greenburg, though, bugs me. I scrape a better radio host off my big toe nail every morning.
  16. It could mean that the other Brewers tested positive, and then the B sample came back negative right? Maybe that falls into Braun's defense of an unreliable testing process. Just throwing stuff against the wall and seeing if it sticks.
  17. My partner is a CFO for a company up here in Green Bay, and has meetings every month with a group of other executives in the area to discuss business stuff. Anyway, none of that matters. What matters is that once in a while they invite a guest speaker to the meetings to do a speech and a Q & A. So when he told me that Schlesinger (someone please correct my spelling) was going to be that speaker this time, i decided to be his plus one. This was last night by the way. He was actually a lot more open than I figured he would be. A few things that were interesting was talking about Braun, the budget, the new TV deal, extensions for two pitchers (who could that be...lol), the minors, and the payroll. As far as Braun, he said that the hearing was taking place today (which was thursday), but other than that the team basically stays completely out of the process and lets the player, the union, and the league handle everything. Didn't say anything really, other than the team is behind him 100%. One moron actually said that if he's guilty, the team should try to trade him, or void his contract. He seemed very angry when he said it. Rick chuckled, and said Braun is one of the best players to ever play the game and has one of the most team friendly deals in the history of the league. No way in hell do the Brewers try to get rid of him. He likes the new TV deal. Says it's not the best, but it gives them more flexibility. He also said that the deal fluctuates based on ratings, so it helps to motivate the team to continue to be good. Since it does change based on ratings, he encouraged fans to watch the games and DVR em so the ratings go up. He said that talks have occurred about extending Marcum and Greinke, but they are very early. Moving forward he admitted it would be difficult to sign both, but they are confident that, if the budget allows they could find a way. It depends on the player too though. It also goes along with payroll. He said that K-Rod signing was unexpected, but not unplanned for. Their payroll going forward right now is projected at about 108 - 112 million, which would be the highest in franchise history, but he said was a doable payroll for the team. It doesn't leave as much flexibility as they would like though, so the team we see now is probably going to be what we get, unless trades happen. He said that minor league system was a concern last year, but he likes how they have developed since then. He said that our system was very position player heavy, but it has switched to a pitcher heavy system now. I asked about Mike Fiers, because he's my favorite minor leaguer for a few seasons now, and he told me that he has a real shot this year of breaking camp with the club. He might have just been trying to make me happy, but hell, I'll take it. Lastly, one guy asked about signing Fielder, and Rick was honest and said it's not going to happen. With the payroll the way it is right now, many moves would have to be made to do it, and they feel that all the necessary scenarios would only weaken the team. He said that it is Gamels job to lose, and they are confident in him. The same guy pressed the issue a little bit (same guy who said they should trade Braun) and Rick had a funny line. He said the odds of signing Fielder would be about the same as getting struck by lightening three times, while getting mauled by a family of polar bears, with the winning powerball ticket in your back pocket. I'm paraphrasing, but I liked it.
  18. I might be the last person on earth to still care, but I love Army-Navy football every year. It doesn't matter how good either team is, they leave everything out on the field, and always play hard against each other.
  19. Somewhere between 1 in 5 or 6 sounds right to me. At least that's what the commercials always say. So that means, on average, every team has about 4. If you factor in that it is more prevalent for men in the major league players age range, then it is probably higher.
  20. HA! appreciate that even more then Hoser. No offense intended to Hawing. Never knew.
  21. I'm glad to hear that, because I always appreciate your posts and insight. The way the thread went after your comment, just seemed like that's where it was coming from. I've been reading those blogs for a couple days, mainly for the comments afterwards, and they are very entertaining fiction. Chomping at the bit to hear whether or not what you say is true though. Any way your sources could come on here and fill the fans in? Just kidding man.
  22. On another note, he has Aaron Rodgers in his corner still. http://sports.yahoo.com/n...IRI5nYcB?urn=nfl-wp13843
  23. I know that as Brewer's fans we're hoping that Braun is innocent and this is all just something that will go away and the season will go on. But, seriously, this is what we're pinning our hopes on now? Rumors created by faceless internet bloggers? Guys who live in their parents basement making up stuff about medicine for an STD screwing up the test? Or "sources" that are basically nothing more than "a guy, that knows a guy, that knows another guy"? Seriously, I got really excited when I read Invader's initial post, because I always respected his opinion, but, dude, if your sources are just these blogs about herpes that I've been reading about for a couple days now, and dismissed the second I read them, then you need some better sources. If I'm wrong, and you have better, more reliable sources, then my apologies. Otherwise, this forum is basically turning into TMZ plus National Enquirer, shake it up, and pour it on the screen.
