  1. ...nice. I'll just assume he will miss most of 2009 and be done with it.
  2. But if we see Hart, then who plays RF? Gwynn? No Thanks, I'd rather play with 4 infielders.
  3. I tossed some stuff around after the late July sweep by the Cubs. However, going into the Phillies series I sort of knew at a gut level what was about to happen. I have found an odd serenity in what is now occurring. It feels 'normal.' Not good, but like things are suppose to be...I also did a 5-mile run last night after the game was done.
  4. Intersting, according to this we are chasing the Mets rather then holding off the Phillies.
  5. Not sure if this was covered before (not that I saw), but Glenn Hoffman did a bit on local radio in the Lacrosse area this afternoon and he reports that 'people' close to the team told him that several players went to DM before the Philly trip regarding Ned.
  6. ...wow...this september has been something else...not what we planned, but...wow!
  7. After reading this thread, I see that agony is the mother of inspired writing. Some pearls here. 1982 was bad, but hard to not have appreciation for that journey. "This" (if it comes to pass) is near tragic. To me, it feels like 2007 and 2008 has been one long and bitter season...soon comes the winter of our discontent.
  8. If they can leave Philly with a 2 game lead, 7-5 'should' do it...but being a Brewer fan...I have no hope.
  9. The creators of 'The Street' decided to blow Snuffleupagus' cover because they didn't want to lead little kids on that they should have secrets and/or not tell their parents about something. Also, Big Bird had to deal with Mr. Hooper; et al not believing him when he would wax on about Snuffleupagus. The thought was kids watching the show would be less likely to tell if someone was abusing them.
  10. I'll agree that booing Eric as soon as he walks onto the field might be a bit excessive, but when he gets pounded...I can see the fans point. To me this connects with the players that get upset if someone 'shows them up''
  11. I'll boo Gagne giving up home runs and Rickie making errors. I also applaud their success. Seems like a natural 'fan thing' to do.
  12. Wow, that shows the vaule of one game late in the season.
  13. Having my own concession stand again would be a nice.
  14. BP is wise.
  15. Not sure if this really warrants a new thread, so no offense taken if this gets pulled down. I was looking @ what the Phillies have left for a schedule relavtive to Milwaukee and I'm not sure if 90 wins by the 'Crew will do the trick and secure the wild card. For most of August and September that is the number I've played with. The Phils have 5 with Fla, 6 with the Braves and 3 against the Nats (outside of the 4 V the 'Crew)... I know this is just speculation but I'm wondering if it really might take 92(+) to hold off the Phillies. Thoughts? (edited title for a bit more clarification - hawing)
  16. "If we collapse this year and miss the playoffs, I'll be right back again next year. After all, I drove three hours to watch Ruben Quevado pitch against Bartolo Colon back in 2002. The true masochists among the three million will be waking up to smell the tailgate again in 2009." ...wow. I was at that game too. Drove down from Wausau. Wanted to see the Expos and (Colon was totally on a roll)...I couldn't get anyone to go with me so I went alone. Then walking in from the 1/2 abandoned preferred lot, some guy just handed me a terrace level ticket. I went and sat in the last row of the lower level on the 3rd-base side (very alone)...sort of summed up that year and how I feel right now (and we are still up 3!). BTW, Ruben struggled that night.
  17. Maybe we are heading to a one game playoff? The reaction to that could be very amusing.
  18. Can we use Seath some? Please?
  19. Billy...you be Billy and remember they are the Reds!
  20. Maybe Ned will just talk CC into an 18-inning complete game and he can pitch both those games...way he is rolling I'm only 1/2 joking.
  21. I use to be Pack first, but certainly the last 10 years or so it's been baseball and the 'Crew. Packer games are events and I buy into the hype, but I love following baseball everyday and certainly this site has taken my fan-hood to a new level. I drink the Packer kool-aid too; but 'Crew #1.
  22. Still in the hunt for the Cubs, still have to WC lead...still...
  23. Lots of flipping like everyone (most everyone) else. I'll go with the game that is providing the most drama. Certainly to start, that will be the Pack. Since they start first, that will help the decision making. Now, here is an interesting twist...If you could have a choice; Pack in the Super Bowl or The 'Crew in the WS?
