  1. Good advice. Get your A and advance.
  2. I think Seth could take CV's current role. Mota for the 7th (I guess) and CV for the 8th. Stetter and Shouse as needed. Cross the fingers and away we go... If/when the 'crew locks up the Wild Card, it will be interesting to see what starter is dispatched to the pen. Hope this will provide a 'playoff upgrade.'
  3. On the intake side of things, try writing down all the food that you eat and track the calories. Dhonks has a good plan, if you could also start (or end) your day with a little physical activity so you are doing something active twice a day, the weight will fly off of you.
  4. John Snyder and his mysterious arm slot. Alex Sanchez. Joaquin Andujar. Terry Bevington. ...and I know this is just me...But I never got the Cal Ripken love. Robin was a way better player.
  5. Al is spot-on about the new park for the Twins. Those clowns should praise, rather then bury Bud for the contraction threat.
  6. Ive lived in Eau Claire and now Lacrosse. Both have pretty successful Northwoods teams. I've seen about 50 games over the last 3 years. To me, the level of play is close to what you would see in a solid D-1 college program. Not college world series stuff, but still not bad. It's fun and it is an inexpensive way to get to a game. If it creates some energy for the game in a city, then it is good for baseball. What I have liked is the pitch to kids and families that I have seen.
  7. Agreed. While at the game yesterday it occurred to me how different the expectations have become. We all remember (and mostly likely) have been to those afternoon games where there are 14,000 people. This team, regardless of how 2008 works out, is just a lot of fun to follow. In-spite of what Buster Onley might think...
  8. Go Manny! I'll be there today kickin' it in the Club seats. Just look for the big geeky-looking guy in the Brewer shirt.
  9. I was hoping for the Ham-Fighters.
  10. Im not so sure about how many guys really lie and say they still 'have it in the tank' V just be straight. Not saying they say take me out, but more don't advocate hard to keep the ball. Speculation, granted.
  11. I'd assume if CC said he was done to Ned, then he would be done.
  12. He also misplayed that catch into something noteworthy...
  13. Augie makes a great point. Joe's areas in need of growth will be putting the ball on the floor and defending; as is for most NBA rookies.
  14. Ive seen those lineup analyers too. Some peg the #3 hitter as the 5th-best hitgter in a lineup. I'd contend that would not be the place for Lyance if/when he has to play, either.
  15. If Nix is here until Braun can go again, fine. Having him hit 3rd is...odd.
  16. "I'll give Alexander time. I still think he's going to suck though." ...and the wager is on...I'm guessing Joe is a pretty nice player but I'll give that it maybe year #3 before he is a 'impact' player.
  17. Maybe its just me but I thought Mo made some nice comments and took the high road on his way out of town. I respect that. Howard's Blog today is (IMO) spot-on.
  18. Sheets with a shutout...line-ups irreverent.
  19. Maybe is an undiscovered genius at the hot corner with his defensive wizardry, alas we will never know.
  20. Why was a loan shady? MLB owners have a history of doing so before this deal with Pohlad? Bud gave the Twins a 'bad guy' and the state government rallied around a building project for the Twins. I think he did them a great service. 1994, hard to blame him when the players went on strike. 1995 spring training, I don't think it was the greatest idea but when MLB showed they were going to play one way or another...the regular players came back. The Expos had to move, that isn't on Bud. They had to move or close up shop. Seems to have worked out Ok for the DC area. Revenue sharing has been helpful for the clubs in the shallow end of the pool. Steriods I supppose would be the big black mark on his run as comish. As far as an owner; he might have held on to the team a bit longer then his family could really afford, but with getting MP built...he gets a pass from me. Obviously I'm in the Selig camp. Bud has done great things for baseball in Milwaukee and around MLB. I suspect we all are going to be grateful for the Wild Card the way this season is playing out...
  21. I would think the plan is for Ridnour to be the PG if Lue or Sessions can't beat him out. Maybe they would like to go with Sessions but he is such an unknown, insurance is needed. That could make D at the PG ok, or at least better. Agreed on the CV comments. I'd really like to see him play off the bench, but not sure who can play the 4 then. I would have liked to see CV moved too, but this is more then a one-year process. Trading YI for RJ doesn't necessarily mean win-now, but does tell you that Hammonds/Skiles were not as sold on the kid as the last administration.
  22. Tri might be closer to the truth but I'm not as down on this team as that. Redd (like him or not) is a nice player. RJ might be our best player. If Bogut can take the step up and make more touches have value...they are not that far away from being...ok. Not saying more then a fringe #8-seed but the NBA, maybe more then any other of the leagues, is the hardest to get 'good' once you go bad. As far as getting mid-level talent. That is easy. It is the top-tier guys that rarely even hit the FA market (or get traded) that you have to draft.
  23. I wonder if CV still might play off the bench. That would give one 'scorer' in the second group. PT is going to be interesting. Might be a 'platoon' all year there. At least Skiles has options and Lue does give some insurance @ the point. Depth (at least that can score) is an issue, but if we look at this as a two-year process, then I'd say year one isn't to bad. I know Dez has a following, but I never really saw what he brought to the table that is anything noteworthy. RJ, Redd and Bogut are going to certainly get their shots. Good point was made about getting to the basket off the dribble...that is going to have to be RJ or bust, but still nice steps (IMO) by Hammonds. Once this season is cleared, the books to open up a bit. Also eating another year of Gaz will help trade him next summer. I'd assume the same with Bell, but since he will have to have an expanded role this year...maybe he plays better and his vaule increases. Possible. Just my opinion again, but a nice deal as far as it's inpact down the road, maybe not so much on the court.
  24. I'd take an infection of the bladder before Gary Sheffield.
