  1. If that is a for-real deal, there has to be another part to make the dollars work. Plus, we know the Bucks have made an imperative to get better on D and that means either Mo or Redd have to go.
  2. Neither do compared to most of the 'bad' NBA contracts because they can actually play. The Bucks, as we know, have plenty of not-so-good contracts. Just is that Mo and Redd together in the back court is not the best idea. Would be great if Mo could take the 6th man role. More likely is one is dealt (with Gaz or Bobby) for an expiring contract(s).
  3. Well between Vargas and Cappy being the true ACE of the staff...
  4. All I know is the day is pretty hot for some soup.
  5. ...But if Sheets is going to test FA; he is going to test FA be it in Milwaukee or in Boston. The 'Sox or Yankees or anyone is not going to give away the farm for a rental. Granted the 'Crew could strike a good deal, but the Twins got 'less' in the Santana deal then they thought too. Maybe another way to look at this is if the 'large market' teams know Ben is going to be a FA...all they have to do is start the bidding in November, rather then give up a prospect or two...then have to bid on Ben anyway.
  6. I'm with JohnBriggs on this one. Hope that Ben gets to pitch in the NLCS this year and then feathers his nest. Really, this is his one real big shot @ the FA market. Can't hold that against him. Really, nothing different then what Prince will want to do. If Ben was a part of the A's and we were watching this from afar; it would be pretty clear the Beane would be letting Ben leave too...just trying to decide if he rides him out and gets the picks, or flips him if Oakland would fall out of the race.
  7. ...I'm just happy to have this gig and I'm sure that 'they' will be on to me soon.
  8. True, but only if Ben will take our money. If Boston or NYY really want him, it would be shortsighted to out bid them no matter the price. We all can agree that we would rather have Sheets then Lowe. However, IF Ben leaves it is viable to consider who would take his spot in the rotation an at what price. Lowe is a bit more then mediocre.
  9. Agreed. Unless the 'Crew goes on a 15-game losing streak, Ben stays.
  10. This is an entirely different situation than CoCo closers are decently easy to find, look at what we have had in the past. Wickman, Leskanic, Kolb, Turnbow But true aces are rare. Yo hasn't really proved much yet. Sheets gives us almost an automatic win. I agree that a top-shelf starter like Ben has much more value then a closer. That is also not the point I tried to make. All I'm trying to say is I hope Ben and his agent would come to Doug with whatever their best offer is an allow an opportunity to match. If you recall, CoCo and his representative did not. Other then that, I'd say Ben can do what he will.
  11. ...wow, there IS someone out there that understands me...While I might not have that Cub-Hate down as much as you do, I must say I do bask in their losses much more then seems healthy.
  12. I might get the suite next to you, Ob...
  13. Is what it is...I'm hoping he at least gives the 'Crew an opportunity to match or beat any offer...unlike CoCo. I guess that is all we really could fairly ask of Big Ben.
  14. Diet Pepsi an Skittles. Diet Pepsi and Cheetos. Diet Pepsi and Black licorice. Diet Pepsi and Leftse Beer and meat.
  15. If SD wants to just dump the contract, well sure. If they actually want prospects about A+ ball (besides Gywnn)...maybe not. If this moved Dave Bush into the pen; that should be an upgrade for the staff in general.

  18. That is what I was thinking; they might just go with 13 pitchers for a bit. Only 1/2 kidding, but with Kendall being Kendall, they could send out Rivera and who would know?
  19. Perspective is an interesting application of human psychology.
  20. Interesting question, what is a playoff trip worth and how would the 'Crew once they are there? CC helps 'some' make the post-season. If that happens, IMO he would help a ton in that environment. Now, I'll admit this answer is with my heart more then head, but to me a post-season birth is worth a whole lot. Not both LaPorta and Gamal, but one...no question to me the answer is YES! Of course I'm just a fan.
  21. Good point Jim. I'd like more data on the hitter at-bat. How is is doing over his last, say 10 games. In-game box score would be nice, maybe data on previous match-up V the pitcher.
  22. Ned does tend to ride his closer. Skipping Manny 2 or 3 times does make some sense. True that Yo going down had nothing to do with throwing, but that happens in sports. When I first saw this story I thought Ned, et al were dumb to not throw Benny as much as possilbe, but after pondering it, I have come around to what they are doing here. I suppose this will be a decision we review based upon the outcome.
  23. Guess I see this a bit different then Utdfan. I'd rather get 10-20 more pitches out of the starters and limit the guys out of the pen as much as possible. From the years we have watched Ned, we know the pen tends to get overworked. If this limits the pitches in the pen; seems like a good thing. Additionally, when I first heard this, I thought that Ned was being dumb if it meant that we got less starts out of Sheets and Soup...now after pondering this; maybe the bit of extra rest has help them thus far, while the regular work on the back end has assisted Seth too? Not sure how to measure that.
  24. He is like Glen except he can defend and run the floor. I loved Big-Dog, but he is a better athlete. Could be that he ends up with similar production, but if Denver really wants to deal him...I'd take the plunge.
  25. Baltimore (other then the Twins) was one of the teams I really disliked as a kid. Goes back to those AL-East days when they were very good and one of the primary rivals. Man, just thinking about them (and the Cardinals) makes me angry!!!
