  1. This may be an odd thought but I've always wanted to see Ichiro in a home run derby just to see something different.
  2. Ersan was (and still is) a terrific athlete. He'll be a very good addition. The past few years it's seemed (I could be wrong) the Bucks lacked athleticism. This year that should not be a problem. Maybe like a Raja Bell in his prime (my comparison, not theirs). Bell is a very good defender. How is Meeks' defense? If he becomes a good defender the Bell comparison could be very apt. Bell's always been a very good three point shooter.
  3. Also, somewhat under the radar, is that the Bucks a few weeks ago signed Salim Stoudamire. Is he really a possibility to make the team? I believe Stoudamire signed with the team during the last week of the season. He was signed with an eye toward next year and wasn't active for a game. He could provide a nice shooter off the bench if he makes the team. Haislip played in Europe the past few years and was one of the better foreign free agents along with Ersan. Reports say he's improved a ton and might actually make himself useful in the NBA.
  4. Marcus Haislip has signed a deal with the Spurs. And according to Rotoworld Ersan Ilysova has agreed to a deal to return to the Bucks. The deal should be announced tomorrow.
  5. I'd love to see a sign and trade involving Childress. It would be beneficial to the Hawks as well. Ridnour would give them insurance in case they don't resign Bibby and a quality backup to Bibby if they do resign him. Childress is a very good defender and a team player. Scott Skiles would like him.
  6. Check the draft forum. That's where any news or updates will be posted. Khris Davis has already signed and is playing for Helena now. Not sure about Kentrail Davis or the others.
  7. NBAdraft.net asked Jennings what his favorite memory of this past year was and he responded "playing against Earl Boykins." Former Buck Boykins is a quality NBA caliber player and Jennings more than held his own against him. Jennings played with and against some good players over in Europe. NBAdraft.net interviews with draftees including Jennings.
  8. I really like the Jennings pick. I actually liked his comments on Rubio. I felt he made some good points about Rubio avoiding workouts and thus not risking himself being exposed. Jennings went against guys like Flynn and Lawson in workouts. He tested himself against the best and wasn't afraid of being exposed or outplayed. I like his competitive spirit.
  9. I like the Oberto for Johnson trade. Getting Johnson for a guy we were probably going to release anyway is very good. As already mentioned Johnson's only 22 and still has a lot of upside. He gives us a young player to act as insurance in case we can't resign Villanueva. Overall, I think these trade will be fine. I can see them keeping Bowen as a mentor to LRMAM. Bowen knows a lot about the mental side of defending. While a lot of that is dirty (I've always felt he's been the dirtiest player in the game over the past 10 years.) a lot is also sound technique and just smart play. Bowen could also give us another three point shooter off the bench. He's always been a nice three point shooter.
  10. I wish Leiter was working for a national network. He's a fantastic commentator and good baseball mind. I read Reynolds' blog and it just doesn't make sense. He contradicts himself and says nonsensical things. If he was joking his blog entry would be funny but he's serious.
  11. In McCalvy's story he reports they will have to replace some carpeting in the clubhouses so the clubhouses weren't exactly spared. They just didn't get hit as hard as the other areas.
  12. According to Adam McCalvy Miller Park saw flooding from the storm during the night but should be cleaned up and good to go for the Tuesday game. McCalvy: Miller Park to be OK after flooding. MJS on the flooding at Miller Park
  13. Now Congress is going to investigate Sosa. Why? What's the point? The only thing to be gained from this is an opportunity for the Congressmen involved to grandstand and blow steam. Congress to investigate Sosa
  14. Is Puerto Rico the same as well because it is a U.S. Territory then, or no? Puerto Rico is considered part of the US as far as the MLB draft is concerned. All Puerto Rican players go through the draft.
  15. Using the 1400th pick of the draft (48th round) on him isn't exactly a risk. They took a player they knew would sign there instead of taking one that probably won't. Being a linebacker for Miami tells me he's got some athletic ability. He may be no more than an organizational soldier at the lower levels but he could turn into something more. Who knows? It's worth finding out. Just for reference, there were a number of football players drafted. Miami Dolphins' QB Pat White was drafted in the 48th round by the Yankees.
  16. Terrific interview. Wow. Mandy Coolbaugh is a very inspirational person.
  17. Freddy Sanchez would be an upgrade at second but I'm not sure what it would take to get him from the Pirates. They may be reluctant to trade him to a division rival. If the Brewers aren't satisfied with Gamel's defense at third then you don't want Huff. He isn't much better.
  18. To be fair, he did hit up the Rocky Mountains and Las Vegas. I thought the running across America bit was cute. I thought it was cool they actually went to all those places and filmed him running there. I didn't think it was laugh out loud funny but it did make me smile.
  19. AL C: J. Mauer 1B: J. Morneau 2B: I. Kinsler SS: J. Bartlett 3B: E. Longoria OF: C. Crawford (33 steals and only caught twice. Are you kidding me?) OF: Adam Jones OF: J. Bay SP: Z. Greinke RP: J. Nathan NL C: B. McCann 1B: A. Pujols 2B: C. Utley SS: H. Ramirez 3B: R. Zimmerman OF: R. Ibañez OF: R. Braun OF: J. Upton SP: Santana RP: Hoffman (gotta go with perfection. He's putting quite a stamp on a HOF career.)
  20. Now we have two left handed Duffys. We can call one Duffy1 and the other Duffy2. Gwynn for Gerut is a fine deal. Gerut has shown more in the bigs than Gwynn has. It'll also give the Padres a little good PR to offset the Peavy trade.
  21. I could just feel Brooks' energy and passion. Terrific interview Todd!
  22. That sounds like a feature Yuku would have to implement.
  23. William DeWitt's combover's got to go. David Glass looks confused. Considering the Royals' last 20 years that's not surprising. Hard to argue with the top five or bottom five. If I had to guess I'd figure Attanasio is in the top 10.
