  1. Ruthledge is 3rd in k/9 rate in D1 behind Bauer and Hultzen....not to bad.
  2. May have lucked out if this season is any indication. He will continue to get better as he adjusts to his disorder but as of right now he is a ways a away from being where a 12th pick 2-4 million signing bonus guy should be. Hopefully in 2yrs he is back on track butcan fall to Brewers as a 2nd to 5th rd pick. This season was very ugly for him. Still wish him the best
  3. Here is a transcript of an interview with Hall after he was drafted. So its not an actual scouting report but I found it helpful Actually here is one from Jim Breen (Bernies Crew) prospect madness in March of 2011 http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/fanblogs/117516348.html
  4. Also, it was great to see Lasker come out of the bullpen and have a nice outting tonight. Hopefully that gets his confidence back after 3 straight terrible starts where he could not get past the 2nd inning. PAST 3 STARTS 3GS 3IP 8H 11ER 12BB 2 K Tonight's Relief Appearence 1 G 3 IP 1H 0ER OBB 1K
  5. Very nice first showing for Hall tonight, minus a rough 4th where he gave up four straight hits before recording an out. He throw I believe 51 strikes in 76 pitches (not 100% sure) and in the fourth he throw 17 of 21 believe for strikes. So that may have been an issue that he was just getting to much of the plate. Overall, very encouraging and I am excited that he is finally up! Hopefully we can get a good scouting report a bit later on where he was, what he was all throwing, and what were his plus pitches.
  6. I don't see them scared to pay a guy like Guerrieri, he will want a good amount but doesn't have the leverage of a Bradley or Starling. I think it is guys like those two or the ones who are assertive they want to pitch in college and will demand Purke type money. Also BPA doesn't go by what PG, BA, or any other site but who the team scouts fell is the best ( hence brewer reaches on Fielder, Braun, LaPorta and Rogers over Homer Bailey) Never know until you look back years down road. So maybe a Greene pick at 15 or another guy who seems to be a safe pick, to the Brewers scouts that kid may project much higher. I can't say it enough, I beg Seid to go young. We need more Jeffress, Rogers, Lawrie, Odorizzi, Scarpetta, and etc type picks and talent. This system is deperate for young prospects compared to 22-24 year olds filling all the spots on our rookie A, A+ levels
  7. I wouldn't call all-star @ every level, 1 or 2 league MVPs, futures game selection and a top a top 10 brewer prospect in that big wave a good example. Sure Hart was not a hot topic all over the milb but not a shock that he has performed the way he has.
  8. No way do they take Bradley at 15, it could be a wasted pick. I really hope they go 2 HS Pitchers. Need some nice high ceiling pitchers to mix in with Joel Pierce for that next wave. If we get Guerrieri and Norris I may end up streaking naked in excitement! Best case scenerio to me
  9. Lot of mention of "if he can add some more ticks on fastball" which at the age of 20 is very possible as he matures and develops physically but I think where he is sitting right now is not to bad, I think it is his off-speed pitches that will dictate where he will end up in the rotation. A curve that "at times" is a plus pitch and a change up than "could be above average" really need to come together. If they do that 90-92 toping at 94 will be a lot more dangerous
  10. To me Taylor Guerrieri may be the best available. I have read all over he could have been the top hs pitching prospect ( hatd to buy better than Bundy) if he had more consistant prior to this season. He is there we need to jump
  11. Love BC's lineup much like I did for Wisconsin last year...just don't get why they don't win. They have WAY more potential than sitting in last place, its mind-bottling
  12. I think Nick Bucci is maybe the most under-rated, interest prospects in the Brewers system. He is off to a great start so far in 2011 and has been very productive in the past (walks are down thus far). The kid is 20 years old, in the top 10 in the FSL in most catagories, and has so far is throwing strikes, maybe his most glaring weakness. Hard to believe but he is actually the 4th youngest pitcher in all of the Brewers system (in order, Pierce 18, Johnson 19, Wawrasek 20; month younger) He is younger than Brooks Hall, all the pitchers drafted last year sitting in A ball, and more advanced than the guys close to his age. He has a decent body frame at 6'2 190, regularly works in the 89-92 MPH range (guess can top out @ 93-94), mixing in a slow curveball that is a plus pitch at times. The changeup is still a developing pitch, but at times flashes average potential. But at 20 yrs old, 21 in July, there is still plenty of time to improve and develop that change up and gain more consistancy with his curveball. His 68 walks really killed people off the bandwagon last year but if he stays where he is at (only 14 in 46IP OR 2.7 P/9) is it time to consider him a legit prospect?
  13. OH MY RICHARDSON!!!!! I think its safe to say the guy is red hot right now! 6-6 He putting together a great May after a dreadful delayed start in April/early May.
  14. See i see it the exact opposite because you can field a competitive team by loading up on college late round picks like Hopkins, Vucinich, Shaw, Rogers and etc. I figure Roberts & Rivera will be sent down once the season starts because both so far have been overmatched in A and are still pretty young. They have a quality OF with Walla, Allison, Stang, Bivens. So load up on young guys 4 Arizona early and fill the Helena roster with later picks. Seid really needs to focus on building a young, energized, high ceiling system. Right now his approach has got us to having the worse system in baseball (the trade killed use but those were all Jack Z guys) I like Bruce but really would like him to go very young this draft. With all the extensions, its not like we need all these guys NOW, so take the highest ceiling prospects, load up on youth, and develop them.
  15. Add Guerrieri @ 12 and Norris @ 15 add them to the Joel Pierce and Brooks Hall pitching group. Im sick of all these college pitchers as of late. Right now our system is full of low level 22-23 yr old guys (many of whom are not as dominant as they should be and those who are that are critized because they are to old for the leage). He have such a shortage of young pitching. Above Rookie ball, Stosh is 20 in A, Bucci is 20, Lasker and Nieves is 21 in A+ and Peralta and Scarpetta are 22 in AA. (Rogers and Rivas are 25 and the youngest in AAA) Not saying that it is awful, thing I like the wave that are coming and we should turn out a couple of big league pitchers but why not focus on refilling or rebooting the system with some young high ceiling pitchers. The same goes for young Bats, Seid has been loading up on all these college bats and and has really not went after young HS hitters. 2010 Yadier Rivera (9) Kevin Berard (22) 2009 Cameron Garfield (2) Max Walla (2) Tyler Roberts (10) Scooter Gennett (16) Demetrius McKelvie (25) 7 signed HS bats (unless I missed some) in last 2 years as compared to 27 college signed hitters (good amount were roster fillers) Dante Bichette Jr is a guy id love to get in the 2nd if he is still around
  16. Yeah no one is saying draft some 2nd rate player, you take most talented player is somewhat signable. U can not take Bradley @ 15 because if he goes and plays football Brewers pisses away a huge pick. Also this draft is deep as heck, it is very hard to be caught majorly reaching. Big fan of Guerrieri some say he is 2nd best available if he'd be more consistant, id love Norris or Bradley as well. This draft will be crazy, who knows how it will play out.
  17. 12 is the risky pick where the Brewers can go out a take anyone with signability issues (a Starling if not gone, Archie Bradley, & so on) at 15 you need to know you stand a good chance of signig the guy. Doesn't mean he needs to be a bumb not worth the pick...this is an extremely deep class they just can't take a person who is extremely commited to college ball or has a shot to be a stud football player at 15. You look at the draft, it so deep that a lot of guys like Springer could go top 5 or 10 or fall to top 20. Another Plus...draft is loaded with good high-ceiling SS even after Lindor is gone Christian Lopes would make me pretty happy.
  18. From want I heard his bat has a bunch of potential and unlike Escobar a body that will fill out. But every time his bat potential is mentioned, you will see extremely raw right after. Let's hope! Really hope Andres Martinez makes the trip to AZ this season as well.
  19. I personally would also like to see him moved up for we get the small hope that Brooks Hall will get the call (once again Brewers baby players way to much so doubt it). That is one really discouraging thing about our rotation right now. Nelson, Howell, Miller should all be dominant right now and they have not. Ross starting in spring to now has really put himself in a postion where he is right there with Thornburg at the top of the group. Only issue is, we will have zero clue what we have with him until they decide to test him in AA. BC is a pitchers park and going against okay prospects and doesn't mean much. Just like Heckathorn who prob should have started in AA after getting a very good amount of innings in BC last season, Brewers baby them
  20. Pretty excited about Rivera, hopefully he can handle the pitching and stick..... we could really use a SS to turn it on and become a true prospect. Only if Prince would get on base a lot more....
  21. Since the Brewers forced Khris Davis to waste away in Wisconsin for a full season, nothing shocks more anymore. With that said, to early to promote. Come end of May I think he will move up. Guy has great off-speed stuff to go with a 90-93 fb not a bad combo when you can throw strikes
  22. Whenever the Brewers fell like challenging his bat. He should have be promoted last season and never was and no promises they won't do the same again. Feel bad for him because once again the explaination people will give for his stats is he is "old for the league" which really isn't 100% true. I really hope they quit babying him and get him up by June (assuming this continues). Never a true prospect until you perform at AA
  23. Safe to say Mat Gamel had an alright game....5-5 3 2b and a HR believe 5RBI. Not to bad at all
  24. Dream scenario: The Cubs finish with the 16th pick for the 2012 draft, then Prince signs for 8/160 + with the Cubs. How sweet would that be to take the best available pick away from the Cubs, while they take on another awful contract. See: Soriano, Alfonso; Zambrano, Carlos; Ramirez, Aramis; Fukudome, Kosuke. Awful. I don't care how bad the contact is or the pick we'd get from them, Prince is still hitting his prime and very damn good player. I much prefer him NOT being in our division where he can lights up a large amount of times in a season. Angels with a 16-25 pick sounds great to me
  25. Holy Maldondo!!! 2 2B and a HR is Huntsville debut. Have to be impressed so far this season with his offense which is good news as a guy known for excellect defense. Won't be a an everyday superstar but could be a nice Neives type back-up (hopefully a lil more lumber)
