  1. Pretty awesome to see Tommy pitching and for a mlb job....it is too bad that its not with the Brewers and he quit on us. Still no grudge as I hope the best for him. First of many triples for McGehee, guy can just fly!
  2. Kintzler wins last bullpen spot and has Axford type success this season
  3. That line screams needs more time in the minors to me. He basically isn't walking at all and you can live without walks for a small sample but it will catch up to you eventually. Ha I can't even take this serious. Not saying he couldnt still use time in minors but to say he is not ready because in 27 at bats he only has one walk. How many walks are required in 27 AB to be ready for the majors? 2? 3? 27? Give a guy more that a weeks worth of ab's to say he is not walking at all
  4. I am pretty sure that is not Kentrail Davis in that picture in the video from Mayo but the other K. Davis, Khris...anyone else catch that?
  5. To me it is just really disappointing as a Gamel fan. The last three years he has been in a good postition to compete for a roster spot and the third straight year he has gotten hurt and lost that opportunity. I have a feeling he will replace Kotsay if he goes on a tear and Kotsay is not getting the job done.
  6. Almonte has also played a little in RF so that could be a possible option in a pinch. With our little depth at SS (Yuni can't play D, Cruz can't hit, Counsell getting old, and our most promising SS still a couple years away) I think it is important for Farris and even Gennett to start working at SS a lot. Weeks is looked up now so they are blocked and we have a big whole at SS. I don't think Farris will have a shot to make the club to break camp but if he goes to AAA and is starting at SS (Maysonet at 2B) and starts hitting and playing plus D I could see him up by June or July.
  7. Well Farris played SS today and I pray and hope he take a lot more reps there. If Cruz does make the team, Farris should be SS in Nashville. He is completely boxed out with Weeks infront of him and our SS depth is not great (I like prince even though he was down, George is nothing special and our t most exciting Yadiel Rivers and to me Andres Martinez are still long ways away). With Bethencourt not being able to field or get on base, Cruz not being much of a bat and Counsell not getting younger, Farris sliding over may give us another option.
  8. I personally prefer the Brewers approach with Loe. Why mess with a good thing? If the guy excels in a position why switch him up? If our top 5 pick, number one prospect, who as worked his butt off to get to this position is healthy why deny him? Low has proved to be a key member of the pen, leave him be. We have three starts that need to be covered mid as well give one of our young top prospects an opportunity to show what they have. With our O they don't need to pitch a no- hitter but just keep us in a reason position to win (5ip 4 er I think would be very successful).
  9. Ah I see, yeah he would be offered back but I don't think Egan will be the one to win that last spot, therefore we will have to offer him back.

  11. I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying. There is no way for the O's to keep him unless he is on the 25 man roster but if the Brewers do not accept him back then if he clears waviers we would join the O's. A lot of times team will accept them back and then trade them to that team so they get something for the player. Because Brewers drafted Egan from O's and O's drafted Rosario, the two teams could accept the players back then trade them in a swap. I hope the Brewers do not go that route. I'd prefer him back in our system and would take him over Egan.

  13. IDK from all my years of baseball, it never bugged me to much beside the long wait and anticipation. I personally noticed it a ton more while pitching but that is just me.
  14. I would say the Brewers would have to be crazy if they do not take him back or decide to trade him for Egan. He is only 21 and has really good stuff. You usually don't take a young kid in the major league portion of the rule 5 unless your scouts are sold on that player being a major league pitcher and at least compete for a job. I think it would be very exciting to see what he could do in BC or maybe Huntsville this season

  16. From everything I have read, Rogers is just about set to go and stands a good chance of being ready by opening day as long as there is no more set backs
  17. I agree you don't bat him second (unless he is getting on base at a .350-.400 clip) But if he is getting on base that much I think it is fine because you want guys like Weeks and Gomez who can take extra bases on a hit. Gomez is on first, Braun hits a double, Gomez has the ability to score from 1 to home on that where almost no other Brewer could. He generates more RBI's with his speed for our big bats. Plus pitchers are distracted with him on first which could lead to a couple more mistakes down the middle to Braun or Fielder. That all hinges on if he can prove to get on base but I just don't see him making that big of a gain this season. My favorite line ups are where we have our 5 top hitters in the top 5: Hart and Mcgehee in 2 & 5 or vis versa Weeks, Hart, Braun, Fielder, McGehee Weeks, McGehee, Braun, Hart He don't have a true 2nd hitter because Yuni & Gomez don't get on base enough. Lucroy has the ability to in the future and I would not be opposed to it but not sure if he is ready yet.
  18. As long as Rogers is stretched out and has no more set backs I think he is the best choice. Brewers have said there is no chance Loe comes out of the pen, Parra would be good but not sure where is time line is compared to Rogers (Mark is ready to pitch in a game I believe Parra is still a little further out). Peralta and Rivas would be alright since teams have very little scouting reports on them but don't think they are ready yet, like to see some success in AAA first. Fiers is old enough, guy is 26 now I believe and has a live arm from what I have read so he is a darkhorse. To me as long as they are good to go and stretched out Rogers and Parra I think are by far the best two options. Mark was a top 5 pick and now our best prospect for a reason. He pitched very well in September and as long as he throws strikes he will be fine. The nice thing is that with the Brewers offense, if he can give us 5 IP with 4 ER that should keep the Crew in the game and be a good fill in start.
  19. I really wish they would just get ride of the JSOnline comment box. The ignorance and stupidity of those post are just mind blowing.
  20. A few positives: 1) Guy has balls of steel, if anyone has ever bruised and fractured your ribs, that is not pleasant at all. This guy went out pitched two live games and didn't even want to take a day off from practice. This is the toughest you want out of a starter. 2) Even though he got hurt, he will start throwing again in two weeks, and only miss two starts, three max I am guessing. Plus Yo will get the opening day nod I'd guess. 3) I am confident that the new 5th starter will be Mark Rogers for the first 2 games (maybe Parra if he gets back to health). The way Mark pitched in September I am not nervous that we would be a liability to put on the mound or put us in a position to lose those 2 starts. Negitives Well we will have to beat the Reds without one of the best pitchers in the game on the mond.
  21. Erik Almonte is making is case know right now for making this team! I was surprised they haven't put him out in LF or RF for a game, played a couple last year in AAA.
  22. Its nothing shocking, players are in development while in the minors. They are still learning and physically developing. Not all players develop and reach potential equally. Often for catchers, the bat is the last thing to come. I think you will find that more players than you taught actually follow that suit and get better with age and higher levels
  23. I think that he must have a little there if the Brewers felt it was mandatory to add him to the forty man, want to get him a lot of time in AAA this season, and actually has an outside chance to make the club. From the stats and the way he was developed as just a filler for whatever club needed a catcher but it sounds like they are high on him so who knows. Defensive stats are pretty impressive with him throwing out runners at a career 43% clip, pass balls are not that big of an issue, and a career .988 fielding% but offensive is kind of yikes
  24. I think Cruz right now will be a lock. Maldonado making the team I think would be awesome for the pure fact that we would have two home grown catchers on our roster which hasn't happened since... i don't even know. Better yet it is a par no one would have expected (always suppose to Salome and Lucroy) and Maldonado has never really been a prospect anyone has talked about. He must be really impressive defensively. Edit: Maldonado was selected by the Angels in 04' then came over to Brewers in 07' so he is only half home grown
