  1. When was the last time the Super Bowl had a performer in their prime? Usher is certainly very relevant, but his glory years were 10ish years ago.
  2. One thought I had regarding the potential QO next year. So many players are signing 1 or 2 year prove it deals. Like with the arbitration discussion in the Hader thread, I feel that the QO requirements reflect a past market and not the current one. I doubt Adames gets 2/50 so we are looking at a 3 year deal minimum.
  3. Twitter post based off a podcast he did. https://x.com/NYYUNDERGROUND/status/1753082917654327333?s=20 and this article talking about Bauer. I had just done a quick Google search. https://rumbunter.com/posts/pittsburgh-pirates-why-the-team-should-stay-away-from-trevor-bauer
  4. I probably could go on a long tangent of the inconsistency of how the MLB and other major sports treat off field issues. While I agree Bauer deserves another shot especially since he's made it public that he would be ok with a very heavy incentive based contact, I find it damning that from a PR standpoint that no team wants to touch him with a 10 foot pole. I understand that it only takes 1 team but so far only a couple of teams have kicked the tires but it's more like they saw the car from a distance.
  5. I don't know if there's any substance to the rumor that the rules committee is looking at changing the fumble out of bounds ruling, but I for one like it how it is. With a rule change, Leon Lett doesn't get goated by Don Beebe
  6. There's something funky going on. TNT first reported the signing citing CNN, but nowhere has CNN actually reported it.
  7. It probably will be, but it's not official. Somehow CNN Sports broke the news but the usual suspects have not confirmed it.
  8. Hader will be 35 when his contract finishes. I have to imagine that this is his only big payday.
  9. My car battery died and I called AAA. I'm thankful I'm home because I'm on hour 6 of waiting for them to show up. I had work and plans today. I guess not.
  10. Playing Devil's advocate, say the Packers win the super bowl riding on a stout defense with several turnovers. Can the brass still pull the trigger?
  11. SF is 2-5 when they give up at least 20. GB is 5-5 if you include last week.
  12. 94 Bills? Coming off of a boat load of super bowl appearances, Bills lost the last 3 games to miss the playoffs
  13. The Buffalo/Steelers game is starting to mirror the Packer game
  14. That is no joke and 100% true.
  15. Assuming times are somewhat normal, you can easily have the wedding itself, dinner and all the firsts before gametime. Then just saddle up at the bar for the rest of the evening. That being said, your son should have seen this as a possibility and waited until the Saturday after the super bowl.
  16. This one is getting close to turn into a laugher
  17. Peacock forked over 110 million to get the exclusive rights (minus local markets) for tonight's game. I don't know if it's a consensus or just a vocal minority but plenty of people are unhappy about it. Another example of either missing out, paying a good chunk of money for 3 hours, or finding alternative methods. I could go on a large rant about this, but that's probably better served for the what's bugging you thread. I can't imagine that Peacock is going to recover their money from this.
  18. Often times, it seems like things occur because that's how it was done initially. Until the players, owners, etc complain about it, why change it? I'm usually not a hot stover (said the guy on a baseball forum in January) but I havnt heard any issues from either side. Just the fans. That being said, I agree the schedule does seem janky.
  19. Assuming the long term plan is for Quero to take over the mantle, I think these are the perfect short term stopgap backstops. Say that 5 times fast, geez
  20. I think it was Lovie Smith who said that his only goal of the season was to defeat the Packers. Facetious or not, the Bears did not construct their roster to beat the Packers. Not that some people don't act out of spite or other emotions but I have to think people like MA don't get into the position they are in by being spiteful.
  21. Not singling you out, because this gets thrown out there frequently. Is there a non-fan related reason to do all this? I'm anxious as the next Brewer fan for their next move but I don't see a baseball reason to make any changes.
  22. Certainly none of our opinions matter when it comes to what actually happens to the Brewers. I was just curious about your and others' opinions and general philosophies about fairness and winning odds. I have zero faith that this league will not come close to being fair short of something drastic but as fellow fans of a team with terrible odds, how do we redefine success?
  23. I'm pulling numbers out of thin air here, but you'd rather have a 1 in 100 chance of winning the WS in an unfair system rather than the straight 1 in 32 if it were even odds just because the win would be sweeter?
  24. The question asked was if .super teams, like the Dodgers, were good for the sport. I'm sure tons of revenue will come in, even to cities like Milwaukee when the Dodgers come into town because of Matsumoto and Ohtani. From a financial perspective, that is. My concern is if the league is fair. I'm curious if anyone thinks that a team like the Guardians or the Twins have just as likely opportunity as a team like the Mets or Dodgers, given the current revenue sharing and luxury tax situation.
  25. It has been well established that more money doesn't always equate to more wins or more championships but this spits in the face of anything even remotely considered fair.
