  1. Oh well, at least he calls a great game. Human Rain Delay coming in. At least this will give Ueck some time to shine.
  2. It's gonna be hard for Looper to catch Lima at this point, although I do believe if there is anyone who could do it, it would be Loup. For a bit of perspective, Looper has given up 1.91 HR/9 this year, Lima gave up 2.20! However, I wonder what happens when you adjust for era...
  3. Corey raking in AAA, say it ain't so. Doug, please don't trick yourself into thinking this guy is a major league talent.
  4. Seems like a pretty decent chunk of cash to pay to a good but not outstanding bullpen guy. Given that, I would hope that the list of players doesn't contain anybody except low level prospects. Probably a solid trade by DM, but it's hard to say before we know the PTBNL.
  5. That's a pretty painful bottom of the order. Looks like Yovani might have to produce for himself again today.
  6. I think that call killed gameday. Now it says Prince walked. The machine has overpowered the umpires.
  7. Hey, if the Brewers can average 1.66 HR's against per game for the rest of the year, they'll break the NL record held by the Rockies. Now that's something to be proud of.
  8. Wouldn't mind him on a minor league deal. Actually, wouldn't really mind him in the rotation, but he'd be pushed to the pen as soon as Bush and Gazpacho came back. Not that he'd be a terrible addition to the pen. Then again, if he's a headcase, probably not worth the trouble.
  9. Running in to outs like that (even if he was safe) seems a bit silly with one out and Fielder at the dish...
  10. I don't think Hardy is a .227/.298/.367 hitter. He's struggled this year, but these numbers would be much better if it weren't for a .254 BABIP. Given Hardy's speed and Line Drive rate, he probably is more like a .275-.280 BABIP guy, which would make his line look a lot more respectable. If a 162 game season were to start today, I'd peg Hardy for .260/.320/.430/.750 and Escobar for .280/.320/.380/.700 or so, with both being plus defenders.
  11. I wonder if he could knock one out in that charity softball game they have every year around the derby. He's got to have more power than Bobby Flay, right?
  12. Nice. I'm starting to wonder if he can actually crack 40 dingers this year.
  13. Harang isn't even close to Suppan's level. Sure, he gives up quite a few dingers, but he has had a K/BB ratio of better than 3/1 the last two years. I'm pretty comfortable saying that he is an average starter. His BABIP's the last two years have been .317 and .346, which can explain some of his struggles. I mean, he isn't an ace or even a #2, but he is certainly a servicable #3/4 starter. That said, I didn't realize he's due $11MM this year and $14.5MM next (assuming his buyout would not be exercised). I'll gladly pass at that price.
  14. Probably not, but if they do, John Kruk and the boys on ESPN will probably view it as the catalyst that got the Brewers going. You know, John Kruk rambling and all that.
  15. Why do I fear another 8 inning, 120 pitch outing from Yovani in a 4-0 game?
  16. Wow, just turned Ueck on and pretty surprised to see that Yovani gave up 4 in the first...Even more surprised to see he did it without issuing a walk or a long ball. Edit: Even more surprised he did it on 23 pitches, 16 of them strikes.
  17. I had that when it first came out, and thought it was one of the best Berliners I'd ever had. If you don't like white wine, it probably makes sense that you didn't like it, but I've had the Berliner from about one month old to four months old, and now it is over a year old, so that could have something to do with it.
  18. No, definitely not. The bottom line is, his UZR/150 says that he has been terrible this year. As was mentioned earlier, given the sample size, that does not say much about his performance in the future at third, but although I don't have the UZR data to back it up, I doubt many premiere fielding 3B's have ever posted numbers like that even in a small sample. Basically what I'm saying here is that both Bill Hall and Ryan Braun can go through an 0 for 30, but that type of performance in a small sample is much more likely to happen for a Bill Hall than a Ryan Braun. Understanding that samples of this size for UZR are similar to 20-30 AB's for a player, it would be ridiculous to conclude that Casey McGehee is a bad defensive 3B, but it is somewhat more likely that he is a bad defensive 3B than a good defensive 3B. Hopefully that rant is somewhat coherent.
  19. Looking at the infield situation, Mcgehee, Hardy, Hall, Gamel, Escobar, Weeks, and Fielder are all under contract for next year. I think the best idea here would be to obviously not do anything until there is a better understanding of Mcgehee's knee surgery results (maybe this is a minor surgery, I don't know about this stuff). If McGehee is healthy, I'd play him in a utility role, platooning with hall at 3rd and playing 2nd for Rickie's odd day off. Gamel could be moved to RF. Otherwise I guess McGehee could move to RF, but I don't see him having enough range to play the outfield.
  20. Could Hart take on some of Braun's part time work in the front office before he gets off the DL?
  21. I really don't know about Lucroy's defense at this point (although from what it sounds like, he'll stick behind the plate for the time being), but his bat has got to be at least a year away from the majors. He's shown a great eye at the plate this year (16.1% BB, 16.0% K), but he'd probably be better of developing some more power in AAA next year. If the team is out of the playoff hunt in September, I would like to see Salome brought up to catch a handful of games (what good does it do to have Kendall catching 28 games in September, much less any other month?). It's just really hard to project catching prospects before you've actually seen them catch.
  22. Wow, Bronx cheer for Kershaw there...That's pretty harsh for the way he's pitched recently (for the last two years, for that matter), not that Brewers fans wouldn't do the same.
  23. Guessing Manny in left and Eithier is worse??? No way Braun and Hall are worse than Soriano and Bradley/Hoffpauir.Not to mention the Nationals. I didn't realize Hall hasn't played a single game in RF in his career, but he was solid in center...I'm pretty comfortable saying that at this point Braun is pretty near average in left. Maybe I'm crazy, though.
