  1. I would look at the Houston Street deal http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/streehu01.shtml?mobile=false One of our minor league guys would have to chime in on if it was a quality or quantity trade though. July 19, 2014: Traded by the San Diego Padres with Trevor Gott (minors) to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for R.J. Alvarez (minors), Taylor Lindsey (minors), Elliot Morris (minors) and Jose Rondon (minors). My point being - getting Pap would be similar.
  2. We are all aboard but RRR is the conductor (well more was but that's neither her nor there) - he is probably in the caboose ... Either way we are all going down with the Krod train. Even with the padres horrible base running
  3. Way to go Overbay! I have no idea how they overturned that. Whatever
  4. There just seems to be no life on Smiths pitches. Straight as an arrow
  5. Could you imagine our BP without him? Jeez. And I agree - thanks Toronto!!
  6. Well his son died at 9 months. Which means his wife got pregnant well over a year ago. No one on this board can say if there were complications. Who knows maybe there have been family problems for the past year. Combine it with pitchers figuring him out some and he just hasn't been able to make adjustments.
  7. I don't know but I am starting to want him to start over Segura.
  8. Well we can just thank Matheny for not inserting a lefty. Because Ike has an awesome line vs lefties: 32 PA / .100 / .156 / .100 / .256 / 0 HR / 0 RBI / 11 K I have no issue with us not trading Thornburg for Ike. I just don't get the love fest for Ike. He just isn't much better than Reynolds.
  9. Hey - here is a novel thought - let's keep on running into outs
  10. And scooter picks up Braun and Ramirez - way to go Scooter!
  11. Nelson sure does draw some tough matchups. But that's ok - hope the bats keep it going tonight.
  12. Here is how the Cubs remaining scheduling looks. If they play above .500 ball the rest of the way, it would be hard to not be excited if you were a Cubs fan. Reds - 6 Brewers - 6 Cardinals - 7 Pirates - 6 Non central games Dodgers - 4 Blue Jays - 3
  13. So during last nights game, Madly picked someone off 2nd base. It was an awesome throw. (Skip to about 1:10 in the video) http://m.mlb.com/mil/video/topic/8878756/v35673811/milsd-lohse-holds-padres-to-one-run-over-six-in-win/?c_id=mil So I got to thinking, how often has someone been picked off of 2nd base by a catcher? It just can't be that often as that is ~ 130 foot throw. A runner would have to be REALLY falling asleep to screw that up. According to this article it has happened just over 1,000 times from 1956 to 2007. So an average of 20 times per year (which still seems high to me) ... either way - Maldy rocks. http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/stolen_bases.htm Here is a leaders list of most catcher pickoffs per season: http://members.tripod.com/bb_catchers/catchers/pickoff-leaders.htm
  14. I mean - we all know Maldy has a canon but wowser - that was nasty ... For those who didn't get to see it - check the replay as Maldy picks some lame duck off 2nd base with a snap throw
  15. My God, for all we know, Jimmy Hoffa could be hiding out in that beard. FOr a short time, I was listening to the radio, and in the 5th, Joe Block said "There's a righthander up in the Padres bullpen, and I can't see the name, but he has a giant beard" Lol
  16. Cardinals beat the Pirates 3-2. Was really hoping for Pitt to open with a win.
  17. I really hope Scooter proves RRR wrong and start hitting lefties. I just feel he is the fire starter of this offense. He always seems to be involved with runs. Base hits, moving runners, scoring runs It's not like Weeks has been bad vs lefties, I am just a fan of Scooters game.
