  1. Run with this RRR Hart-1b Aoki-rf Braun Ramirez Lucroy Weeks Morgan vs RHP / Gomez vs LHP Izturis/maysonet - whatever Aoki plays everyday until proven otherwise.
  2. Welcome back GoGo!!!
  3. I also don't agree that the NL isn't strong. Yes the extra Wild Card helps but you still need to be a top 5 team to get in and this team looks a lot closer to the bottom 5 than the top. should this be in blue? Really, bottom 5 you say? Wow.
  4. I am dumbfounded by the Maysonet callup. He is just a guy. Not a guy you would actually use. Why not give Bianchi a shot? He is the classic, injury to potential starter story, isn't he? The guy was drafted out of H.S. in the 2nd round by the Royals. (2nd pick of the 2nd round) Here is a snapshot of his MiLB stats: Year Lg Lev G PA AB BA OBP SLG OPS 2005 ARIZ Rk 28 122 98 0.408 0.484 0.745 1.229 2006 ARIZ Rk 12 54 42 0.429 0.537 0.667 1.204 2007 MIDW A 99 403 368 0.247 0.296 0.315 0.611 2008 CARL A+ 104 431 396 0.255 0.290 0.442 0.732 2009 2 Lgs AA-A+ 128 542 490 0.308 0.358 0.435 0.792 2009 CARL A+ 60 245 220 0.300 0.360 0.427 0.787 2009 TL AA 68 297 270 0.315 0.356 0.441 0.797 2011 TL AA 119 499 444 0.259 0.320 0.333 0.654 2012 SOUL AA 19 85 77 0.351 0.398 0.403 0.800 He must have had some injuries early (based off his AB totals in 05/06). Then finally got to A ball and played poorly during his 20 and 21 year old seasons. In his 22 year old season he has success at A and AA. Then had Tommy John. Sat out a year. Didn't fair well in AA last season, but is raking this year. I guess my point is (and I know next to nothing about this guy) ... he was highly recruited out of HS, had success, got injured, stunk it up and turned 21. Did well at 22 and then needed Tommy John. Returned from injury and didn't do well. Is at a point now where he is in a make or break situation. I guess to me, I say here - give it a go. You have a month. (It is what it is... do well and stay up. ) Izturis? Maysonet? Come on, neither of these guys are the answer for now, tomorrow or the future.
  5. I'll Pass on Derek Lee. I might ask him to sign on our AAA team to see what he has. But to have him come in and hit a double play every day doesn't sound like a good time to me. I would prefer to just let Ishikawa, Kottaras and Conrad play the spot. (I do hope Kottaras gets some starts there. Maybe he has never played it though?) In a month if that isn't working, I would prefer Hart to be moved there and then let Aoki, Morgan and Gomez play CF/RF. or Even call up Taylor Green and see if he can play 1B. Ishikawa is hitting into plenty of double plays himself and Lee was at one point a much better player and is probably a gold golve caliber 1b. Though you might be right...he might be done. Who knows. I really dislike Ishikawa and feel he never should have been on the roster so I want that fixed. Him playing every day is a joke. I really wanted them to bring up a third catcher and let Kottaras get starts at 1b, with Hart playing when tough lefties are on the mound or when Kottaras needs to catch for Wolf. I am all for Kottaras getting playing time at 1B

  7. I like the salute from Luc at 2nd ... I hope that gesture sticks
  8. I think Burgos has a sub-fringy fastball. From our own 2009 Draft Pick Signing Thread. I know this is a minor league pitching thread but after clicking on the link I had to make a comment on Scooter. I do like the BF.net scouting report (from that link) on our 16th round pick of Scooter Gennett from that draft: BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT: As a left-handed hitter Gennett is one of the best pure hitters with one of the better approaches of any prep player eligible for the 2009 draft. He doesn't have the greatest size, and may not have the range to stick at shortstop, but he is an athletic player that has very good speed as well as a very strong arm. He handles himself very well at second base, and third base could also be an option given his offensive potential and arm strength. Gennett's pitch recognition is uncommon for a high school senior, as he exhibits an incredibly polished approach at the plate. He has very good bat speed and can turn on the best of fastballs, and he performed well on the showcase circuit during the summer of 2008, including his participation in the Aflac All-American Classic. Despite his smaller frame, he has good power potential, and should hit plenty of doubles and triples as well. He had somewhat of a down senior year, which caused scouts to wonder if he may be better off going to college. If he does take his talents to Florida State we may be talking about him as a first-rounder for the 2012 draft. I know he probably wouldn't be a first round pick but having a career MiLB avg of .306 isn't something to ignore. (Especially with his .326 AVG in 86 AB this year in AA.)
  9. PrinceEatCrow ... hehehe J/K ... sorry couldn't resist. I wasn't expecting a dinger in the 2nd by TI either ....
  10. What I just noticed, my iPhone MLB at bat app (has game day audio) is a good 30 seconds behind gamecast. That's annoying.
  11. Way to go Braun!!! and glad Gomez stays hot with a single
  12. How about this for 1 game Aoki Weeks Braun Hart Ramirez Gamel Gonzalez Lucroy
  13. He was, when Hawkins came off the DL and we finally went with fewer than 3 catchers on the roster. Don't remind me ... 3 catchers. Jeez.
  14. I wouldn't trade him during the season as he is our best bench bat. I think you could get more for him next off season if he has a full season of success and not 2 weeks. I would definitely look to move him next off season if you find the right deal.
  15. What a game by Gamel Yesterday. His 9th inning at bat / 8 pitch walk was great. Never swung at a bad pitch in that at bat. Lots of young players think you have to get a hit in that scenario. Mat showed why drawing a walk is just as good as a hit. Great game Mat.
  16. That was an impressive at bat by gamel ... Swung at only good pitches and draws a walk
  17. Great deal ... thanks for posting!
  18. We should use our best reliever in a game with 4 run leads in the 9th? One of the hardest jobs of a manager is to have the guts to not just manage for today. This is a very good point
