  1. http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=7487532 Anyone know how good Mortensen is? With this being his 4th organization looks like the Rockies got a steal.
  2. After seeing Aoki's first name today (I guess I really never took notice of it before) ... I might have to vote for him as I can see the blogs already .... No Aoki! Stop using him in RRR!
  3. Prettyuch agree. Morgan has to sit vs lh. Gomez is not good enough to start every day. Ditto. I like Morgans approach at the plate and wish his style would rub off on Gomez more.
  4. Ya that is a good deal. Makes sense. Berkman will play 1B.
  5. Ya - I don't see how the Nationals are not in on Fielder. They are putting together a really good team. If they added Fielder that would be huge for them.
  6. And they raised ticket prices ... Good news for the Brewers. Keep buying tickets Milwaukee! Attanasio has showed that with our support, he definitely invests into the team. GO BREWERS!
  7. A 4/50 deal is the equivelant of what we gave Wolf. (He signed something like a 3 yr 33?) ... So Wolf at $11 per year or Marcum at $12.5. I am good with that. Also, I really hope we can lock up Greinke. $16/ year for Greinke is money well spent IMO. To have a top 3 of Gallardo, Greinke and Marcum is a good staff. Then add in Narveson, Estrada, Peralta, etc you can fill out the 4/5 spots after the 2012 season when Wolf leaves. Pitching is important and the Brewers cannot afford the Lackey / Sabathia contracts that are 7 years at $20+ per year.
  8. 4 is also more than Kotsay hit. Just saying. That's whose spot he would get. (as our roster currently stands)
  9. You are half way there http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ... But I am not sure we can pull of a Morales deal. I think you will see Gindl / Schafer in LF. When Braun gets back I would like to see: 1. Morgan - CF 2. Hart - RF 3. Braun - LF 4. Weeks - 2B 5. Ramirez - 3B 6. Gamel - 1B 7. Gonzalez - SS 8. Lucroy - C
  10. There is no way Braun leaves the 3 hole. You want him batting in the first inning every game. Plus the higher in the order you are, the more at bats you get 1. Morgan 2. Lucroy 3. Braun 4. Weeks 5. Gamel 6. Hart 7. Gonzalez 8. Green If green or gamel hit well, they go to the 2 hole Vs Lhp Hart, lucroy, Braun, weeks, Gonzalez, mcgehee, gamel/green, Gomez
  11. I agree that we better not trade him for "salary relief" ... that would be stupid. He is a very good pitcher and makes our team better. I only trade him for a great offer. In all honesty it would have to be something like Hanley for K-rod or I just don't do it. Have 2 studs in the 8/9 innings will be a huge positive for us.
  12. While I agree we have in house options for 1B, I don't see Melvin not investigating what it would take to get Morales. Doug likes his "proven" players more than a minor leaguer. (Granted Morales didn't play in 2011) .... I guess I just don't vision Doug saying Gamel at 1B, Green at 3B and McGehee will start a few times a week at 3B and 1B. I guess I will only believe that scenario when it is opening day and Green and Gamel are both starting. Until then, I just don't see Melvin standing pat
  13. I am torn on what to think here. 1. In a monopoly money world, sweet. We stay with 7 inning games as the 8th (krod) and 9th (axford) will be very difficult for opposing teams to score in. 2. In the real world, D@#$! Our 8th inning guy is our 2nd highest paid player? Ummmmm, that seems odd. Seems like this is going to put a hamper on our whole off season. Bye bye Ramirez, bye bye anyone who costs anything. So Gamel at 1B is a lock, Green at 3B is a lock, McGehee to backup both is a lock. Yuni coming back .... probably a lock. What about the possibility of trading K-Rod? (We did sign Gagne for a 1 year $10 million deal) ... I just find it hard to believe there isn't a team out there that wouldn't want a closer as good as K-rod.
  14. $2 mil - That seems pretty low ... really dont' understand why the Brewers wouldn't have bid that. Seems worth the risk
  15. But he was 2nd in the league for RBI's I agree with you though ... It would be disastrous. He is a mold of the same player we already have a lot of; doesn't play defense well (or really at all) ... hits a low average and a little bit of power (at least for his position) ... Doesn't run the bases well. Thinking about this more, I would be pretty pissed if we bring Yuni back. I just don't want him. #1 on my SS list is one who plays good defense. And not just the routine balls hit his way. I want a guy with some range and who will actualy dive for a ball.
  16. If we can get Furcal for 2 years + a mutual option, I am all in. 3 years would be a tough sell but I might even do that too. We have no SS on the horizon so the chance we sign a guy to a 1 year deal is minimal in my opinion. I personally like Furcal. High energy, good defense, and he can hit. He is coming off his worst hitting season in his 12 years as a pro. (And it isn't even close his 2nd worst season was .269 in 2009) ... He sounds more like a solid bounce back candidate than a guy who is going to keep declining. I highly doubt he hits .231 in 2012. I would expect closer to a 265/335 line out of him. With his defense being far greater than what we saw out of Yuni ... All in all, I would be very happy to get Furcal.
  17. I would think most big name free agents would wait for the season lawards to be handed out.
  18. I just read on jsonline that the award is being announced on November 22nd. I have no idea, why they wait so long.
  19. Wow ... That is crazy. Didn't see this one coming. But what a career
  20. Here is the link. And a few good threads to reminisce about how bad some wanted him http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .... John Lackey Melvin wants two starters
  21. This board will explode if they pickup Yuni's option. But I have said it before and others have too, there is not a 10 page list of available short stops. If we miss out on the top available FA SS and can't make a trade happen ... Yuni will be back.
  22. Dunn - no, I'll pass. Sox would have to eat his whole contract and I wouldn't give up much for him. Schafer - no. We can't have Braun and Hart as the only guys in our OF capable of hitting the ball out of the park. Green - yes give him a shot but if he is given a shot I doubt gamel is still here Gamel - see green, I don't see Melvin inserting 2 rookies on a 96 win team Mcgehee - backup 1B/3B I don't see Melvin moving hart to 1B and then getting a new 3B, SS, and RF all at the same time. We won 96 games not 69 games. Chances are Melvin makes two moves, 1B and SS. 3B will probably be mcGehee again unless Green tears the cover off the ball in spring training. I just don't see a scenario where a 96 win team has 4 of 8 positional changes from the year before. ( some even want 5 by dumping Morgan/Gomez) ... 5 moves is pretty ridiculous, IMO.
