  1. The misery of the Cubs is music to my ears... I'm sure there's probably a standard fine that goes along with an ejection. The fact that he got tossed from a 7 run game arguing a strike call from 3 innings ago is hilarious. I doubt there's a fine for as often as managers get tossed just because.
  2. I like Plesac, I think he brings some good energy and good analysis. I just have to prepare myself to hear the term "Brew Crew" about 1000x. Stearns big free agents signings this offseason need to be Vasgersian and Plesac.
  3. I've traveled AmTrak a few times in my life and other than the time we were stuck outside of Seattle an hour or two because a snowstorm covered the tracks they've never been more than a few minutes late.
  4. It's not totally random as the "Sunday lineup" is a thing for just about every team, not just Milwaukee. I guess our bench just generally has sucked compared to other teams so their scrubs destroy our scrubs.
  5. Don't know for sure but probably somewhere between 10th and 12th.
  6. I'm guessing they gambled they could get him on a waiver deal and Oakland snuck up in front of them and took him. I'm not sure how much sneaking was involved. There were reports of multiple teams interested in Fiers before the deadline and the Brewers would have been 29th in line to get him on waivers.
  7. Technically it would be because he was offered one last year and a player can only be offered it once during their career. But the traded during the last year of his contract part would apply if he didn't get it last year.
  8. I'm a debbie downer on the Brewers with the best of them but this thread takes the cake. I was no fan of Villar, but he was done here and it was time for him to go. If he turns into an all-star so be it. Oritz has some potential but spent 3 years at AA and seems like he can't stay healthy. Honestly never even heard of Carmona but teenage international signings are such crapshoots you have no clue what he might or might not be. Is he Gilbert Lara or Jose Ramirez? Schoop has pretty much sucked since he got here, there's no denying that. But considering the blackhole that was our middle infield all year long and he can retained next year, seems like an acceptable trade to me. It's not like Schoop is keeping a better player off the field at this point and his ceiling is definitely high than Perez, Saladino, Orf, Sogard and whatever other crap we were running out there.
  9. I saw a highlight of Santana's last HR for CS on Twitter recently and it reminded how unusual his swing is for a slugger. I'm not a hitting expert by any means but to me he doesn't really have swing to drive the ball. You watch Braun or Thames and they have a swing that drives through the ball before and after contact. Santana almost seems like he's swinging the bat to a spot and if the ball and bat meet perfectly he'll drive it, otherwise it's weak contact somewhere. Almost like a slap hitter would but he doesn't have the speed or bat to ball skills to make it effective.
  10. It really feels to me like the last few years (even before Counsell took over) that if they won the first two games of a series the starting lineup and general play of the team in the third game was phoning it in. Most of the time that third game is a day game after a night game meaning some guys are going to get a day off but the opposing team is in the same situation and doesn't seem to have the same lackluster play.
  11. The Angels are going to do nothing in their division the last two years they have Trout. Maybe they trade him at the deadline of his last year and wind up getting a fraction of what they could have now. Basically they'll have had the best player in baseball for 9 years and wound up getting swept the one time they made the playoffs. And completely failed to take advantage of bolstering the future of their franchise by not trading him when they should have. A lot of that is just the luck of baseball but they really failed to take advantage of having Trout by either putting together a competitive team or using him to acquire prospects.
  12. I actually thought he hit it foul based on his reaction. Me too. Then I realized he was being a dick. Dude just crushed a go ahead grand slam. He can't be happy about it?
  13. Corey threw the pitches but this is on Craig. Grow a pair and take him out.
  14. Something about blind squirrels and nuts. Those numbers are inflated by last night's game. Take away last night, since he was brought back he's got a .584 OPS.
  15. This Brewers team is built very differently than a historical Brewers team. That said, it can be tough to adjust to someone you haven't seen before. I still think we light this guy up today though. This guy on the surface looks nowhere near capable of pitching in the majors. Cain and Yelich will go about 4-9 with a few walks. The rest of the team? Oh-fer?
  16. True that, unfortunately.
  17. The name you should all be looking for to add to your fantasy team today is Mr. Kennedy..............Kennedy.
  18. One of the lefties Ramirez or QTC should. But if they haven't yet then they probably won't in September either.
  19. Jeez, even the double was on a great pitch. Talk about crappy luck.
  20. Hader gave up a ground ball that got through on a pitch at the ankles and a guy flipped an outside the pitch the other way. Don't see him getting hit hard.
  21. Whether he swung or not, he doesn't know if he has to run until the appeal and then it's too late. I hate those situations. The batter is in a no win situation.
  22. That is an interesting point in regards to relocation or expansion for any teams in MLB. There are plenty of places that should have the population numbers and corporate dollars to support a major league team but is there actually any interest by the people who would attend games? Baseball is not a sport on the rise. The areas with the biggest "serious" youth participation have got to be Florida, Arizona, and southern California. Baseball has already failed in Florida for two teams. I don't think the DBacks are a failure but they don't seem to have a great fan base. And southern California has enough teams already. I keep reading that the people of Montreal are dying for baseball. Maybe that's true but they already gave up on one team. It doesn't really matter to me that the Expos and Olympic Stadium sucked, they gave up. Who's to say that won't happen again if they get the Rays and have to spend most years in 3rd place or get an expansion team and suck for 5 years.
  23. Just saw Baseball Reference's Tweet. April: Milwaukee May: Cleveland June-July: Anaheim / AAA-Salt Lake Late July: Toronto August: Minnesota I think I might work a bit on my left-handed tossing, see if I can float around and make the minimum for a year or two. Drake is a righty. Imagine how long his career could be if he was a lefty though.
  24. Guys need days off. That is a fact. How many days is going to vary on the player but no one is playing 162 games anymore. The real question is how do you distribute those days off. Do you stagger days so you're sitting just Cain one day, then Yelich the next, then Shaw, etc.? Or do you give everyone a day off at the same time? Personally I'd prefer you put out a lineup at 100% strength almost every game and then bench everyone at the same time.
  25. It's only been 60 innings, but Liriano has been horrible whenever he has been used as a reliever allowing almost a 1.6 WHIP and .800 OPS. He's way too inconsistent throwing strikes to be relied on from the pen.
