  1. I've seen a few posters mention Aguilar could use some time in Colorado but he has been out of options for two years.
  2. The difference was that Gomez was a plus defender so you could excuse some of the other flaws. Villar is bad defensively so if he isn't working out elsewhere he has no value at all. Gomez also crashed and burned his way out of Milwaukee and everywhere since. Won't be missing either of them.
  3. Pham is proving to be a one year wonder, he's 30 so he's reached his peak and is possibly on the downside of his career, and throw in his open criticism of the front office so not really surprised the Cards dumped him for whatever they could.
  4. The boldest part of your prediction is the DH coming to the NL next year because there is about .01% chance of that happening. My bold prediction is that Stearns will get a middle to back of the rotation starter with control beyond this year. Wheeler, Fiers, or Gausman is my guess.
  5. Maryvale is always full of players whether games are going on or not.
  6. I am 99.9% sure Arcia stays on the dirt in the lefty shift. Putting him in the outfield would be a waste of his arm and more importantly his range.
  7. I can't see the Shaw at 2B thing lasting any longer than the end of this season. The only thing that may change that would be a Moose resign. I know there were rumors of the team being interested in him this spring as he was languishing on the market. Of course, he he goes off the next couple months and helps carry this team to the playoffs, I imagine he'll have a lot of interest. I don't see any way Moose is back next year. He either doesn't play very well and they don't want to resign him or he plays really well and prices himself out of Milwaukee. Plus I don't think really want to tie up years and money in multiple 3B with Keston knocking on the door. Which is why I think if Shaw proves he's a decent 2B they would/could sign or acquire another rental 3B while Shaw plays 2B until Hiura is ready.
  8. So if Shaw is a decent 2B does he play there next year until Hiura is ready? Sign Adrian Beltre for 1 year, bring up Keston in late June, split Beltra and Shaw at 3B and Shaw and Keston at 2B to keep everyone fresh, and win World Series.
  9. http://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/braves-broadcaster-joe-simpson-blasts-unprofessional-dodgers-batting-practice-tshirts.html The Dodgers took BP in shorts and tshirts in Atlanta. Braves announcer Joe Simpson was greatly offended. "If I were a Dodger fan, I'd be embarrassed. And I don't know how Major League Baseball allows such attire when the gates are open and fans are watching." He later yelled at some kids to get off his lawn.
  10. A large part of that is Arcia. My impression is that we are heavily relying on Arcia for the most difficult defensive position on any given pitch. He's playing in shallow right against lhb and his natural position against rhb. When Villar plays, he handles the shallow right assignment sometimes...whereas going forward I expect it to be only Arcia. It's definitely a new efficiency if it works out. To your point though, I generally agree. I get the impression that Hiura is a better defender(aside from arm strength) than Shaw or Moustakas already. On a side note, Arcia would have immense value if he could simply hit for 700 ops given how heavily we are relying on him defensively. He's directly responsible for getting a significantly better bat in the lineup on a daily basis(assuming everything goes according to plan). Shallow right is always played by the 2B or 3B. Arcia plays right near the base when they shift against lefties.
  11. Overall, yes, but the winning average has been all over the place the last ten years. Highest at .365 and lowest of .318. There have been a few in the .310-.320 range but for the most part they are .330 or .340.
  12. Vasgersian or bust.
  13. No. The positions listed on a lineup card are totally irrelevant except for pitcher. He doesn't have to go to the umpire every time Shaw moved from 3B to 2B and then to SS when the batter had 2 strikes. So you’re saying Shaw can play SS.... Yes, Shaw can stand where ever the hell he wants on the field.
  14. Can Arica hit 10th? Is that an option? Or maybe Counsell can petition the league to allow him to DH for Orlando and let the pitcher hit for himself.
  15. No. The positions listed on a lineup card are totally irrelevant except for pitcher. He doesn't have to go to the umpire every time Shaw moved from 3B to 2B and then to SS when the batter had 2 strikes.
  16. The Phillies were doing it in spring training, swapping LF and RF. Don't know if they continued into the regular season.
  17. Cubs down 6-0 after 1 with Quintana on the mound. Good thing they brought in the underwhelming Cole Hamels to help out their already underwhelming rotation.
  18. Brewers 2B have averaged 4.04 chances per game so far this year compared to 2.43 for 3B, and 4.27 for SS. That doesn't take into account balls a fielder could (or should) have gotten to but didn't and only accounts for when the position did something "scoreable" on the play. Also the shifts make those numbers even more less than perfect. So, I'm not really sure what to take from them. But here they are. Also, as has been mentioned before, I don't think we should totally discount Shaw being traded before the deadline. Not saying he will be or they are trying to but it does give them the option to.
  19. The tweet I saw came from the same guy that broke the trade news. This will be fun for awhile until they figure out where the leak is coming from and stop it. Hopefully not until after the deadline. Could very well just be a good guess. He obviously wasn't going to wear 8 and 18 was available. I was thinking he would take 18. And Sogard isn't on the 40 man so it doesn't really matter if it was his number of not.
  20. Don't really care about losing Phillips or Lopez. Don't really care about Shaw to 2B. Don't want Moose though. Incredibly overrated. Some power, no OBP. Basically describes all the flaws in our offense.
  21. Shaw plays 2B against most LHB. And with all the shifting going on, the definition of a defensive position is constantly changing. Having said that, I want nothing to do with Moose and his barely over .300 career OBP.
  22. Makes me think of the time where Yo beat the Giants with the bat off of Randy Johnson. This was the only HR Randy Johnson ever gave up to an opposing pitcher. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/event_hr.fcgi?id=johnsra05&t=p He also hit his only career homerun against the Brewers. Off of Doug Davis. I was there.
  23. Will Dozier cost more or less? That is the real issue at hand.
  24. Gibson has been horrible his whole career before this season. I wouldn't be jumping at getting him if I were the Brewers but I would be doing everything I could to cash in on him if I were the Twins. He's likely to be terrible again next year and they'll have gotten nothing in return if they don't trade him and they'll still have a terrible pitcher.
