  1. While it doesn't fit the question perfectly, would you rather be a fan of the Dodger or Marlins? Over the last 20 years the Marlins have won 2 World Series, made the playoffs twice, and been over .500 six times. Over the last 20 years the Dodgers have won 0 World Series, made the playoffs 9 times, and been over .500 18 times.
  2. B, hands down, not even close. Winning a world series would be cool but ultimately means absolutely nothing to me. I want to see this organization run intelligently and the team consistently competitive and if that leads to a World Series title, then great.
  3. 50% of the Marlins position players in their starting lineup today were Brewers property last year: Yadiel Rivera, Isan Diaz, Garrett Cooper, and Lewis Brinson.
  4. Vogt appeared in one of his videos last year while he was rehabbing in CS. Don't remember much, just that it was a very brief cameo.
  5. Don't know why they would want Broxton or Aguilar. They already have log jams at both OF and 1B/DH
  6. He has no reason to fake. Injury is the only way he isn't making the team.
  7. Do they both have options? If Bethancourt keeps hitting in ST, I would just bring him up. I realize it's just ST, but if they're basically equal I would start with Bethancourt and see if he can stay hot for a month or two. Who knows you can get lucky and get a decent season out of him. I could sleep well at night never seeing another Susac or Bandy AB again. Bandy for sure doesn't. I would assume Bethancourt doesn't either but he's on a minor league deal and not the 40 man so I don't think that really matters.
  8. Was watching High Heat while on the treadmill today and Arrieta made some comments about being upset teams weren't willing to up their offer to him and criticizing teams for not trying to win. Rarely do I find Russo saying anything intelligent but he nailed it today. Owners weren't complaining when players were getting $200M+ deals. George Steinbrenner never complained when one of his expensive free agents went bust. However, one offseason of free agents not getting mega deals and the players throw a fit. My own personal opinion is that the Cubs probably offered a deal better than this at some point during his years there and it was rejected. You made your choice Jake. Now you have to live with the results.
  9. Bandy vs Bethancourt Both are god awful with the bat, Bethancourt being even more god awfuler. At least Christian was a well regarded prospect at one point. I'd go with him just because I got sick of watching Bandy flail away last year.
  10. MLB has a glut of 1B/OF guys that can hit and offer nothing defensively. The Brewers have their own glut. Choi brings nothing to the team that it doesn't already have in spades. Great depth in AAA is we can keep him, otherwise no loss.
  11. Braun himself made some comments about not feeling comfortable. There can be a difference between how a player feels doing something and the results that they have been achieving in those few games. In the article on brewers.com, Counsell has said that he looks to be progressing well, for what it's worth. It seems it's more about physical discomfort (his back) than about performance.
  12. Totally discounting that Walker may have preferred New York or just didn't want to play in Milwaukee, this makes no sense that he's not back for this deal or more. Like someone posted before, Walker was brought in because the very guys they will be rolling with this year were so bad last year. So we're going to give them another shot this year. $5M is peanuts for a starting MLB veteran. Spending that money wouldn't prevent them from doing anything this year or next.
  13. Overall slash: .249/.322/.429 RISP slash: .239/.326/.403 Men on: .256/.332/.437 Bases empty: .245/.315/.424 Before I looked at the number I assumed the RISP slash would be terrible compared to the overall, but it was pretty similar other than the 20 point slugging drop. They actually hit better with men on than overall and with bases empty they hit pretty much the same as overall. The problem is mostly second half related. They averaged 4.9 r/g in the first half and 3.9 r/g in the second. Team OPS was also 60 points lower in the second half which was mostly slugging related with a 50 point drop. OBP wasn't that much lower. To me, the fact that the OPS drop was almost completely because of a SLUG drop it seems the hitters tired out. Probably because most of them haven't played a 162 game season before. If it was because of pressing I would have expected the AVG and OBP to drop much more than they did.
  14. Arrieta and Derek Johnson were both with the Cubs at the same time right? I wonder if DJ had a lot of input in whether or not they went hard after Arrieta.
  15. Good lord with all the details. Basically Arrieta comes out way ahead no matter how he performs. Thank sweet baby Jesus he didn't sign that deal with Milwaukee.
  16. Not a fan of the 3 walks, especially when his biggest problem last year was command. Miley just has a NRI. If he loses the job, plug in Woodruff, Miley goes to Colorado Springs to be depth. Maybe. I'm sure he has an opt out and based on what he's done so far I would think some team would give him a 25 man spot.
  17. Totally agree. He's on the downslope. No reason for us to go multi-year with him, especially at $25M a piece.
  18. Amen. I could not agree more with anything that's been said here this offseason. Everything positive and joyful last season was made possible by moving on from the past and embracing a new way of doing business, but keeping Braun was the most back-to-bad-habits thing they could have possibly done. And that's before you even consider the stigma of his PED scandal. I love the new front office, but they should be ashamed of themselves over this one. So are you proposing they should have just released him? It's been widely reported that Braun will only approve a trade to the Dodgers. Stearns clearly tried to do that and it just didn't work out. There's really nothing else they can do other than release him.
  19. If you look at the AFC North you see a division on the decline. The Bengals and Ravens have average at best QB's on the downside of their careers with little supporting cast and the Steelers will only be good until Big Ben retires in a couple years. The Browns are basically in the same spot the Jaguars were a coupe years ago. While everyone else was on the way down, they were on the way up.
  20. Not much for either. I've tried to sell all kinds of packaged, starting lineup figures and they go for very little, if at all. The nesting dolls looks like $5-10.
  21. Once Braun is spending the majority of his time on the bench I'm sure he'll feel more comfortable playing 1B.
  22. I don't think so. It was reported no major free agents were there.
  23. Why? Because he missed half of ST I would assume.
  24. Ur internet isnt behind, doesnt have a stat line for 18 yet.
  25. Apparently just precautionary due to wet mound. I assumed that. But it was good enough for every other pitcher in the game after, including Albers who will probably be a late inning guy. Seemed more like Knebel just didn't want to pitch on it.
