  1. Nope. Home plate umpires are just awful. Someone posted a link showing they are 90% accurate or something. I mean, that's just incredibly low considering the amount of pitches that are clearly balls and strikes. I'm trying not to complain this year about them, but I anticipate I'll make it to like May. I'm sure that 90% is all pitches. I would guess you could correctly call about 90% of pitches correctly watching on TV. It's the 1 inch on either side of the strikezone they're probably about 50% right on.
  2. What looked like an easy fly ball off the bat is a homer. Who knew.
  3. Apparently the announcers haven't watched the Brewers as their errors have pretty much nothing to do with shifts.
  4. That's right, the Brewers have owned the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Thank god the Cardinals won last night to put an end to that.
  5. Contact wasn't intentional? He shoved the ump multiple times.
  6. Shouldn't Facebook have known that already based off of all their data mining? Definitely fan favorites of Russian troll farms. North Koreans are Cardinals fans. Russians love that team in Cincinnati.

  8. That's what happens when you play a weekday afternoon game in April after a snowstorm. I know it will never happen but it would be nice if MLB could play the first two weeks of the season only in southern cities or places with domes. Professional baseball should not be played in 30 degree weather.
  9. It might, it might not. But you're certainly not even going to be considered for a scholarship or spot on a D1 or most D2 schools without playing it.
  10. I doubt Drake would get claimed and, really, so what if he did.
  11. Why wouldn't they keep Phillips and option one of our many AAAA relief pitchers? Not much of a bullpen left as is. Drake is out for today and should be gone simply because of that.
  12. Drake should be gone simply because he's not available today. I would assume Guerra was already in St. Louis but just looking at flights from Denver to St. Louis, Jorge would have to really rush to make it before game time. Jennings may be the whole bullpen today.
  13. This is unfortunately true. The best players, that really want to play, play travel ball. If they can afford the monetary and time commitments. Then you have your second tier players or players who just can't commit to 40 games in two months are left to play on crappy rec league/county league teams with kids that just don't give a crap and it does nothing for them. A vast majority of the 2nd Tier players are also playing travel ball all summer, too. Not in my area. Only the absolute best play travel ball. The next level of players most likely won't play anywhere in summer.
  14. So far Stearns track record on finding scrapheap pitchers leaves much to be desired compared to Melvin's.
  15. They have Jordan Hicks, who they use in big spots. We have Taylor Williams, who has similar stuff, but is apparently not to be trusted. Instead, we get two innings of Ducky. Taylor is not a proven player. Therefore he cannot be trusted. Oh, that Hicks kid is a rookie? Well, then hell if I know.
  16. He was frustrated with his rotation and Machado mostly. Dog days of July were unkind for that group. That's right. Machado loafed it quite a bit.
  17. I remember that series. It was nice to watch the Brewers play a team that was even crappier than they were at the simple stuff. Didn't Buck rip into the team in the media after it because it was just so awful?

  19. Do the "paper roster" and DL/coach guys get paid based on their officially rostered level or just a flat amount by being in the organization?
  20. As someone who played spring and has coached spring and has spoken with people who played and coached summer I can say spring works better. Believe me, the weather sucks in spring. I'm actually glad the first few games get snowed out because then I don't have to stand around in the 30 degree weather with wind chills in the teens for 3 hours. From what I've been told from those involved in summer baseball, there is very little commitment from the players because it's summer. Kids have jobs and vacations and other things going on that you don't have as much of during spring. If they would just push the spring season back a couple weeks that would fix a lot of the concerns about weather. A few years ago our AD talked with us baseball coaches about possibly switching to summer and we were fully against it.
  21. They hate him cause they aint him.
  22. This is a random thought more than a news or note but if Ohtani has a roughly .750 OPS and 3.5 ERA is he not the AL MVP? Neither of those are eye popping numbers but the fact that he did both of those things as one player is more valuable than any other player in baseball. Jumping off from that, how is his WAR going to be figured out? Right now BR has him at .4 for pitching and .4 for hitting. Is his WAR .8 or will there be other factors that go into it?
  23. So Sedar sent him but Villar held up on his own, which was probably the right call anyway. Twilight zone.
  24. Not until he's in the last guaranteed year of his contract. But I guess we could DFA him today and go with Hernan Perez in LF till Yelich is healthy.
