  1. The 2017 bullpen, specifically Feliz over Holland. The Brewers weren't giving Holland a contract anywhere near what he got. Can we stop talking like it was a flip of the coin as to which one Stearns was going to sign?
  2. I don't think extended ST/etc would be an issue. As I found during my research the Cardinals ST stadium is used by 4 minor league teams, including two in the same league.
  3. Yes it is. The Brewers would almost certainly have to buy a AAA team first. And someone pointed out that they couldn't play in Phoenix, I would assume because of the DBacks and TV rights or something.
  4. Understood. I honestly don't know off the top of my head which clubs have paired up like Cleveland/ Cincinnati. I do realize the Twins are currently in Florida but know nothing about their situation there. What I do know is this: there is at least 1 other team in baseball that is operating by itself at a facility (either in Arizona or Florida). It is on the Brewers to find someone to match up with... The Twins ST site is the home of their A ball team. I don't think that's a huge roadblock but I would guess that makes them less likely to leave. Looking at the geographics, Houston makes sense to go to Arizona but they just built a new complex. St. Louis does too but they currently have 4 of their minor league teams playing in their stadium. In Arizona, Oakland and the Angels play in pretty old parks but each recently went through major renovations. Seattle and San Diego share facilities that are aging and haven't been upgraded in awhile to the best of my research. Perhaps pairing with one of those two is the best option for a shared site.
  5. Really? That's what it actually takes for an umpire to get suspended?
  6. When I went in the shower we were winning. When I get out we're down by 4. Just wow.
  7. Flip the question. How did he go from a scrub to all star last year. His 13 and 14 line up pretty well with his line this year. His 16 was great and 15 was decent. Although 16 and 17 are the only years he was an everyday player.
  8. Is Sano going to get tossed for being so far out of the on deck circle?
  9. Amazing how bad Villar is compared to last year. Seems impossible.
  10. Why does every stadium have the outfield padding stop about 3 inches above the ground, the exact size for a baseball to get stuck in? Why not down to the ground or higher off the ground to avoid that?
  11. Yeah, and if he pokes an 0-2 blooper into right field, we're down 2-0 and with the way the offense is going, that's a lot. A rundown is almost a sure out. You throw over every time. Dozier probably breaks for home and then the infielder throws there and you deal with the rundown there. I'm glad he got out of it, but absolutely inexcusable to just eat it and make no throw. By the time Garza stepped off it would have been a close play at 2b. Just not worth the chance of him throwing it away and a run scores anyway.
  12. 2 strikes, 2 outs. Not the worst thing to just let him take the base.
  13. How's that any different than any other game over the past decade?
  14. Sananta is possibly the worst defensive outfielder I've ever seen.
  15. It's actually a pretty terrible view of the entire game. I've never done the plate for a game but I've done it for scrimmages from behind the plate and behind the pitcher. For me, behind the pitcher is a much better view.
  16. I didn't need any trax system to tell me that was a ball. Horrible call.
  17. No. It was Pitch/FX. I will see if I can find the data study. Not you, whoever said they thought it looked off to their eye.
  18. There was an article not too long ago about Pitch/FX and the reliability of it's data. The end result to me was that the Std Dev was too great in terms of inches both vertically and horizontally for me to even care about it anymore. FWIW...just about nil, IMHO. A standard deviation of inches seems shocking to me; not questioning it. To my average eyesight, it looks as though the computer takes note of pitch location in relation closer to where it's caught rather than where it crosses home plate. Maybe my timing is off but the location shown is always off a little bit to my eye when they show that in slow-motion. If you're referring to Fox Trax I'm guessing their location is based off of the TV shot like K-Zone and sort of a best guess by a computer when the white dot reaches a point (I have nothing to back that up, just my feeling). While MLB's Gamecast uses their statcast/pitchf/x/whatever they use.
  19. Ya, I don't know how many 3B are going to make that play, let alone get a glove on it.
  20. FWIW, gameday had 2 of those 4 pitches as strikes and 1 borderline.
  21. I don't remember anything about Susac catching last year but so far tonight he does not look very nimble back there and he seems to sit really high compared to most other catchers.
  22. I don't know where he should hit, but the fact that Arcia is one of our better hitters right now is why we're losing games.
  23. Zero votes. Is he having a good year? Absolutely. Is there anything about his season that stands out? No. He's 9th among NL rookies in OPS, and 3rd in AVG and OBP, and his counting stats aren't that impressive since he doesn't play everyday. Just among hitters I would vote for Bellinger, Renfroe, Josh Bell, DeJong, Happ, and maybe Margot and Brian Goodwin over Pina. There's not much for rookie pitchers this year but there are probably a couple better than Pina. I'm not sure how many guys are on a ballot for rookie of the year but Bellinger, Renfroe, Bell, and Happ will almost certainly be the top 4 on 99% of ballots.
