  1. I caught the end of that only. Am I right that Jesus was walking away with his head down and the ump chased him down and started yelling at him? Also, Perez two hits today after I was negative on him, and I saw both. Now if he comes up late in a critical time please don't swing at the first pitch off the plate on your hands. Yes but Jesus barked after getting called out earlier in the game. So it wasn't just out of the blue. But an ump can't just go after a guy who's walking away.
  2. Quintana giving up 4 runs in the first. We already have pitchers that can do that. Good no trade.
  3. Also, way to totally dodge the problem Craig. If an ump is barking at your player 100x harder than the player is you've got to stand up for him.
  4. And a ball that's a hit the majority of the time turns into a double play.
  5. The walks killed Garza but Thames hits a line drive last inning that's caught and Garcia hits a crappy grounder in the same spot but gets through and scores a run. Baseball sucks.
  6. Especially if you get a bad jump and trip on your first step.
  7. Adam Dunn was hitting leadoff for the Reds a bit some years ago.
  8. Kid is by my mom, game is on TV, playing the Cardinals. All the elements for the Brewers to get blown out.
  9. I have no idea what he does. He was speaking at the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Conference.
  10. The schools and WIAA actually make money from football so I doubt they're cutting any games anywhere. What us spring baseball teams really need is two more weeks at the end of the season. It's not fun trying to play baseball in 30 degree weather the first week of April and then waiting 3 weeks for it to stop raining to play again and then cramming 10 games into the last two weeks before regionals.
  11. I agree. It would be hilarious. How that guy ever got a job in TV is way beyond my comprehension. I heard Jerry speak at a conference for about 30 minutes straight a couple years ago. He was nowhere near as bad as he is on TV.
  12. Thames offers power and the willingness to take a walk. Good skills for leadoff. Shaw and Braun are the only other guys on the team I see with those. Considering his diminished skills and the fact that there are other power hitters in the lineup I'd love to see Braun leadoff but I doubt that will ever happen.
  13. Until Matty V is announcing Brewer games again, whoever is will suck. End of story.
  14. Dubon will have about 70 games at AAA starting next year and so far his hitting is nothing special for the park/league. I guess the same could be said for Arcia last year but Dubon is no where near the prospect Orlando is/was.
  15. Counsell apparently.
  16. You are exactly correct. Matt Arnold coming over from the Rays is going to have a big influence on what they do. He has a lot more experience than Stearns. When you can develop pitching the way the Rays have you never have to sign it. The Brewers have been crap at that for 4 decades.
  17. Detroit and Atlanta are tied right now so they would be claiming either 8th or 9th, not sure what breaks ties. The worst records are Philly, SF, and White Sox. All seem to be pretty set in the infield, either in the majors or AAA. Then is Oakland, Cincy, and San Diego. Villar doesn't seem like a Beane type player, but I could see Cincinnati and certainly San Diego claiming him.
  18. No. We may have a lot of financially flexibility but blowing it all on one player would just be stupid. Especially when you consider the length of the contract a player getting that much is going to command.
  19. Reading about the WIAA football season starting early this year. Apparently they start so early because they are concerned about playing cold games late in the year. Having played and coached spring baseball in Wisconsin for 15 years I can tell you that about half of our games are "cold" with temps around 40 and below 30 with the wind chill. I guarantee there are more baseball games with snow than football games every year. The high school football season is way too long. Our football team had mini-camp during our baseball regionals for crying out loud. And they have a player led week long grade school football camp in July which is really just a way to squeeze in more practices while skirting the rules.
