  1. ROH tanked when the Elite left. The same guys that started AEW. I think there's enough juice for some money making storylines right there while still showcasing whoever's left. Heck, this may all tie in to whatever is going on with Cody right now.
  2. Tony Khan bought ROH. I think this was the most likely outcome when they announced their hiatus. I'm interested to see what he does with it. I hope he keeps it and AEW as two separate companies with limited crossover.
  3. I was just adjusting my resume to apply for a job when I noticed a spelling error. I sent the resume I was working on out last week so I immediately went back to the email I sent it in to see if the spelling error was there too. Yup. Great.
  4. The two places I look for jobs are Indeed and my local COC's website. When I started looking in October I'd almost never see the same job posted in both places. Over the last couple months I'm now seeing a job posted one place and then a couple weeks later posted in the other or posted again entirely. That tells me they're not getting many or any applicants.
  5. A couple weeks ago I was having lunch at Noodles and a woman probably in her early 20's was getting interviewed at a table near us. She was wearing sweatpants and slippers.
  6. Speaking of guys switching companies, can't say I saw anything special about Keith Lee. Never saw him before but I guess he was a guy that fans loved in NXT and WWE dropped the ball with him. All he did was throw a guy around for 5 minutes and the only reason it looked good was because his opponent was athletic and weighs about 160 pounds. I don't think he did an actual wrestling move the whole match.
  7. One thing about the whole Cody situation is it seems somewhat sudden. Brandi just started an angle and yesterday AEW released a podcast with Cody. He seems like a real go-getter who's more interested in starting than sustaining. He helped start AEW and 3 years in it's time to move on and start something else so I don't see him going to WWE especially after the things he's said about the company since he left. Maybe he'll go to Ring of Honor and help them get going again.
  8. Cody Rhodes left AEW. It's assumed he's going back to WWE. Seems like a weird move for him if he does. He's also talked about not wanting to wrestle much longer so maybe he's retiring.
  9. You could send your resume and cover letter to 10 hiring mangers and get 10 totally different opinions ranging from "it's horrible" to "when can you start". It's like trying to play a game but you don't know any of the rules.
  10. I've been doing a semi-serious job search since about October. I'm seeing lots of openings but I'd say 75% of them are manufacturing, retail/service, and health care - things I'm either not qualified for or not interested in. I do most of my searching on Indeed but our Chamber of Commerce website does have a good number of listings and I've found other chambers do a good job of that too. I look at the Wisconsin Job Center website every now and then but so much of what they have are postings from employment agencies that it's not worth my time. I've tried looking at jobs on LinkedIn but all I find are manager postings for retail and fast food places and then high level jobs for national corporations which I'll never get nor am I even qualified for. I'll confirm that Indeed is the best I've found.
  11. Shane McMahon was released today because of how he took control of the Rumble and messed it up.
  12. Macho and Eddie. I don't think Benoit ever won it but that's my guess for the third.
  13. The Rumble could be the best PPV of the year by far, but they ruined it years ago by guaranteeing the winner a shot at a championship title at Wrestlemania which eliminates all but about 4-5 entrants. There's an old saying in marketing that "predictability is the enemy of engagement", and when you know that 25 of the 30 entrants have no chance that increases the predictability. Can't really do anything about the leaks, that's the media doing their job. If you want to make money, bet on the favorite the morning of the event. I think one of the best ones was in the late 90's when the tide was starting to turn from WCW to WWE and they grabbed a couple of guys who were just released from WCW the week leading up to the Rumble. They didn't even have entrance music for the WCW guys. Other than the times the winner wins a vacated championship hasn't it always been that way?
  14. You probably checked to many boxes on what they wanted or not enough take your pick. If it was a corporate job they are probably looking for someone who is overly experienced or not experienced at all even though they probably had something like 3-5 years of experience required. Corporations are still treating everyone like it is 2008 when there wasn't a shortage in labor and they could get people who were overqualified but yet pay them the same rate as someone who has no experience. The tables have flipped now but the large corporate jobs are struggling to change their ways as they are just stuck in 2008 still. I can't decide what is worse in corporate America is it IT or is it HR. They are both bad but I think corporate HR is over taking corporate IT here in uselessness. It wasn't a corporate job at all. It was with a museum and they were looking for specific experience that I have that I can't believe many people in the area have. And this was not a job someone would relocate for. The only two "red flags" I can see are that my degree isn't in the area they're looking for (but my work experience in the field should trump that) and that I am probably over qualified for what they are looking for. But I fail to see how either of those things should take me out of the running.
  15. After using all 5 of my degrees of Kevin Bacon I finally found a contact there. Turns out they filled the position. A week later and they still haven't responded to my email asking if the position was open. Extremely frustrated by the lack of communication and dumbfounded that I didn't even get an interview.
  16. This is an absolute train wreck (in a good way) interview with Chuck Taylor, Trent, and Orange Cassidy.
  17. Applied for a job on November 12. I can't see how I don't at least get an interview for this job. Figured I would be contacted for an interview Thanksgiving week or the week after. Emailed them on Monday asking if the position was still open and no response. With all the talk about how "hot" the job market is supposed to be I figured this would be a rather quick process and not weeks of drown out ghosting like it was 5-10 years ago when I last looked for a job.
  18. I'm with you. Could I save money by constantly switching services to chase the lowest price? Sure. But I'm fine paying the extra for the convenience of not having to do that. Not to mention I have grandparents that come to my house to watch my kids. My mother in law needs me to show her how to turn the TV on whenever she's here. I'm not going to have to explain to her every couple weeks how the new streaming service works.
  19. Ring of Honor is releasing all of it's talents after their final show in December and going on hiatus until spring of 22 with the hope of "re-imagining" the promotion and then relaunching. This is almost certainly the end of ROH. They served a niche for a long time but there are so many other options for wrestling fans now.
  20. This reminds me that I applied for a job back in March or April. Exchanged some emails with the owner of the agency as sort of a mini interview. He said he would take the information to his team and see if there is a fit. I'm guessing there wasn't as I still haven't heard back from him. Now I definitely got the feeling as things went on that they weren't that interested in me and, honestly, I wasn't super interested in them either. But how hard is it to send an email telling me they've moved on?
  21. https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/10/job-seeking-advice-hiring-trend-tight-economy.html Reading this article brought a real smile to my heart. As someone who graduated college in 2008 and spent essentially the next 4 years trying to find a job I can totally related to being on the other side and being treated the same way. Well, well, well. How the turntables...
  22. I'm going to have to disagree with nothing really happened. I think it's pretty obvious this is the beginning of the fall of the Elite. Kenny already lost his Impact Title and the Bucks lost the tag titles. The last time Adam Cole was in the Elite he tried to break them up, which is why they killed him. There's no way that doesn't come up.
  23. I had read a lot of reviews of All Out and it was almost unanimous that it was one of the greatest wrestling PPV's ever. That's a lot of hype and hyperbole to live up to but I watched it this afternoon and I don't think that's far from wrong at all. I never though Eddie Kingston was much in the ring but his match with Miro was fantastic. Lucha Bros/Young Bucks was one of the best matches I've ever seen. MJF totally got me with his trolling of Jericho's entrance and then he and Y2J put on a great match. Britt Baker was solid as always. Christian and Omega tore it down and then back to back surprise debut's to end the night brought down whatever was left standing. WWE caters to kids and the pop culture crowd. They do a decent job of that and won't lose that demo. AEW caters to wrestling fans and the last couple weeks they have been giving them exactly what they want in heaps.
  24. So you are saying it is like WCW back in da day? Sort of, but AEW is building their own stars as well and Vince doesn't have a clue what he's doing anymore.
  25. Finally got around to watching Punk's return. I stopped watching wrestling around 2012 just because my life got crazy busy so I haven't been following WWE's dive into sub-mediocrity very closely. From the bits and pieces I do see though, it's crap now. I love AEW. It's gotten me back into wrestling. I love seeing the guys I used to watch and the guys that are new to me. I love the subtle digs they take at WWE but I really wish that everyone that was in WWE at some point prior would quit with the whole "the other place sucks that's why I'm here" schtick. I'm sure it's true but it just gets annoying to hear it constantly.
