  1. It's not though. It's thrown exactly like a fastball just the fingers are off center.
  2. I assumed Dyson was a one year wonder who then returned back to his old form. But then I looked at his numbers and he was pretty darn good for awhile and then just lost it this year. I know that happens with relievers but generally guys with his lengthy track record don't just completely tank and are done. Seems like a real panic move by Texas to dump him.
  3. It was the fad pitch for a few years and then sort of disappeared. It's not a sexy pitch so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Also, there are very few pitchers that have a great one that gets swing and misses. For most it acts almost like a changeup in that it generates weak contact.
  4. Never heard of "lingering issues" with Sogard's knee from CC or Stearns....... just conjecture repeated from Rock/BA. How come Sogard is so easily looked at as fringe player, but Guerra is our late blooming "ace"? Just play Sogard until he cools off. I remember Brady Clark leading off a year or two really well; then he was just a guy. Play Villar down in order, and keep getting him at bats. Don't bury him yet. I can see him getting hot later this year. Villar can be a big SB threat in late innings, as well. Sogard had over 1300 PA of major league mediocrity before this year and has 53 great PA this year. Guerra had 4 innings of major league experience before last year and has been pretty good since. Big difference.
  5. This is what I'm curious of too. Stats with runners in scoring position likely generally parallels overall offensive production. Getting runners in from 3rd with less than two outs is a bit different. Or...maybe it's not? Not exactly what you're looking for but this year with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs there's slashing .340/.422/.577 (.254/.327/.444 overall) and striking out 23% of the time (24% overall), and have 75 RBI is 116 PA. In theory, they're scoring about 65% of the time (75/116) and actually hitting much better than other situations. Numbers from baseball reference.
  6. I hope this is sarcastic because every pitch has been called correctly this inning according to gamecast.
  7. I'm on gamecast. Was the Mets infield actually playing back? If not, he really can't just put it in play, he has to make sure it is at minimum a fly ball to the OF, that is not as easy as trying to punch it to the 2B. The infield was in. But the point is I think, you have to put the ball in play to have a CHANCE of scoring. And the Brewers have been failing at this quite a bit lately. Not just the lack of hitting with RISP, but simply hitting sac flys can go a long way to winning games like this too. Been that way for years.
  8. I'm on gamecast. Was the Mets infield actually playing back? If not, he really can't just put it in play, he has to make sure it is at minimum a fly ball to the OF, that is not as easy as trying to punch it to the 2B. Infield was in.
  9. Hey Jett, it takes zero effort to jog to first and make them make a throw.
  10. So why does Anderson bunt like a softball player bunting for a hit?
  11. 3.15 No person shall be allowed on the playing field during a game except players and coaches in uniform, managers, news photographers authorized by the home team, umpires, officers of the law in uniform and watchmen or other employees of the home club. In case of unintentional interference with play by any person herein authorized to be on the playing field (except members of the team at bat who are participating in the game, or a base coach, any of whom interfere with a fielder attempting to field a batted or thrown ball; or an umpire) the ball is alive and in play. If the interference is intentional, the ball 28 Rule 3.10 to 3.15 shall be dead at the moment of the interference and the umpire shall impose such penalties as in his opinion will nullify the act of interference. Well then we need to train our bat boys to run around all confused like every time the our batters hit a foul ball near them.
  12. So how is the ball boy any different than a fan or coach preventing a catch from being made? If Flores runs into Sedar trying to make a catch and can't it's an out.
  13. Gamecast only here. Please explain? Shaw struck out looking and was quite upset. I think most umpires would have tossed him immediately. He was still jawing back to the dugout and Craig was no where to be seen. I figured when they came back from commercial they were going to say Shaw got tossed but somehow he didn't.
  14. Hey Craig, way to leave your guy out there to get tossed.
  15. Nothing to do this afternoon and the game is televised. I'm predicting a Mets blowout because that's what happens in these situations.
  16. So last night I was told that MLB didn't change the strikezone and now Rock and BA are saying that they did change the zone. So which is it?
  17. Wily's BB/9 as a starter: 3.2 Wily's BB/9 as a reliever: 3 Still can't throw strikes. Doesn't matter what role.
  18. Ya. Have been watching the last 2 innings on Gameday and you might as well flip a coin on anything on the corners.
  19. I care when everyone talks about how great a guy is but he can't even remember a major rule change. Maybe it's because the players union refused to approve the changes to the strike zone so their was no,rule change? https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2017/03/02/mlb-mlbpa-agree-rules-changes-for/fPpwjj9P8fRWDE5fju334I/story.html I've seen the changed strike zone talked about a few times here but I guess it didn't actually happen. I'll admit I was wrong about that but he specifically said "there's been no talk about the strike zone" which is completely false.
  20. I care when everyone talks about how great a guy is but he can't even remember a major rule change.
  21. Good lord BA they just changed the strike zone rules this year. But you never hear talk about the strike zone. Such knowledge.
  22. He's such a great announcer though. I'll just say that's in blue so all the BA lovers don't jump down my throat.
